The game throws Lead (1 perk) and Iron (2 perk) cards at you like crazy
It takes maybe an hour to get a Bronze (3 perk) card
The crafting system is pretty awful, but it's not pay to anything
People who want to spend money on this game are actually fucked because the monetization is so badly designed
You're 100% always better off just playing the game than you are spending money, and there's nothing you can buy with money that isn't easily unlocked

I played DB because of the people from dbg. Now that most if not all of them are gone I feel less and less interested in even logging in. I miss the old dbg with OC, friends and ironic shitposting.

I've literally only ever played by myself, none of my friends really ever wanted to try the game.

You know it's bad when they have to stop core development for bug squashing. That speaks to how small of a team they have for DB.

As for more fun non-gameplay affecting cosmetics (looking at you, loadouts), on the Nexon side we have come up with various awesome ideas. Just up to them to execute if they *want* to.

Weapon skins are on their way, Exedore has mentioned this before.

At least at Nexon, between Elan (the producer on our side) and I, we both believe the crafting system is for free users, and paid users need more... pizzazz. We have come up with a couple of systems that would work for skins that would attach to loadout cards and override that skin basically, but, again, up to SD if they want to execute and when.

Good job Raz for bringing down the shitstorm of 4chan upon yourself. What were you expecting?

Even people who played during those events, for the most part, couldn't manage to actually get the right card they wanted. The result of every fucking event is "Oh wow, I got a few random cards I don't fucking want and now I can't delete them."

There will be perhaps 3 people in the world who would complain about reintroducing limited skins, and all 3 of those people would be contrary idiots whom you shouldn't care about.

If dirty bomb was hugely popular and had a sensible monetization scheme that encouraged the average player to spend some money, then we could talk about nice and pure ways to pander to the 4 people still around who played during those events. But it's not, and it doesn't.

They bought Warframe, and it's doing extremely well. They managed to fix most of their game breaking issues and bugs, and remove a lot of the pancake on face fucking stupid stuff. I haven't played it in a few patches, but as I understand it it's still chugging along in essentially the same way it always has without any interruption, and they just keep adding more and more shit to do.

I'm hopeful that a little more money and attention will do the same for Dirty Butts, but of course, not that hopeful. Since, y'know. As far as anyone can tell they don't have anyone even slightly competent working at SD.

Yep.
Turning my graphics up a bit and turning off borderless window actually made my FPS more consistent, I suppose because it took some load off my CPU and put it on the GPU.
It lowered my max FPS quite a bit, but I can definitely play better this way.

Yeah, I put everything on low and gave it a higher priority and it got better.

After a couple hours, I think it could be cool, but I agree it's weirdly halfway between arcade quake style stuff and modern shooters.

The movement system is reminiscent of faster paced games, but most guns have smallish magazines with long reload times. Both automatic weapons also have a bigger spread than what you'd find on dirty bomb, which is also weird.
The only gun with a fast reload is the assassin's shotgun for some reason.
I'm also not sure I'm on board with the ultimate abilities that too easily become a panic button. It's cool to use, but it's currently not well balanced.

Also the design and voices are inferior to dirty bomb, which really struck a sweet spot between conventional and characterized without going full gearbox.

And yeah the settings are barebones, not being able to swap weapons with keys is really counter intuitive to me and the people I know who played.

The ability and weapon design just doesn't seem to match with the style of gameplay; everything feels either too awkward or too slow to give you the solid feeling that what's going on in the game is happening because you want it to. The accuracy on everything is bad and there's no iron sights, most weapons are low TTK but there are a lot of random one shot abilities, almost none of the real teamfights actually occur in low gravity - it's just a gimmick that most people seem to avoid. Even the way they designed the medstations seems extremely contrary.

I wouldn't say that it's precisely unpleasant to play, but from a design standpoint it's on very shaky ground.

SD suffers from what I like to call "HiRez Syndrome." When it comes to designing and implementing the initial gameplay systems and mechanics, creating models and art, adding voice overs, and overall designing a very solid and stylish experience - SD is fucking fantastic.

The trouble is that whoever is managing their resources, and deciding who should work on what when, and how they polish and maintain their games is utter garbage. Whoever the CEO is, or the Producer, or whatever title it is that's responsible for overall management and oversight - they do a terrible job.

They clearly have at least some talented guys working over there (though none of them are still on the DB team), but they also have a lot of spaghetti programmers - and when it comes down to professionally handling and releasing a game, every game they make is full of holes.

Yeah I was thinking about that while playing that health station being the only way to heal in a game where fuel is long to recharge and doesn't get you going much farther really doesn't really do the game favors. And low gravity works somewhat but is really awkward for two out of four classes. The automatic weapons also have too much spread to be of much use beyond short-mid range where they're advantageously replaced by the close combat options.

I think it's a shame, there's fun to be had with fast, but right now the only class that can cover a lot of ground quickly is assassin, the vanguard is surprisingly slow for a "f-16 on legs", and it lacks advanced movement mechanics that help you go faster or be more maneuverable in general- walljumps, longer jumps, a sprint button in general that doesn't use fuel or a faster walk speed in general.

The maps also don't feel like they're designed for that type of game, the objective rooms are way to small imo, it's a massacre for anyone with aoe weapons.
