Oothier and the Krait

He pushed harder with his sword, pushing the dagger out of Oothier's hand, and then swiftly whipping the back of her legs with his tail. She collapsed on the ground before him, looking like she was praying or begging to him, looking up innocently with her one good eye, knowing this may as well be her demise.

If you can't submit yourself to the most basics crutiny ('ping me your gear') you're not gonna make it far in raids in general. I don't find scrutiny beyond gearchecks to be necessary, as it becomes clear after 2 or 3 pulls who is capable of doing their job and who isn't.

The big problem is that there aren't many people capable of effectively leading raids, static or pug. There are a lot of awful, toxic, arrogant and useless raid leaders, and there are a bunch of people that are basically mute tags that won't kick the guy that's messed up on green circles for the third time in a row.

And even if the leader is sane, they might not necessarily have the social network (guilds, etc) or experience to get away with kicking people without hesitation. They might not have an environment where people are comfortable 'snitching' on eachother or finding faults with their gameplay or strategy. Necro #2 might not be epi bouncing at all, but Necro #1 is too concerned with keeping their head down to notice. Stupid shit like that.

Raids are fun. They're probably the hardest thing in the game at the moment, but they aren't unreasonable. And they're reasonably rewarding in terms of unique skins and ascended gear.

I grinded from the bottom of awful pubs all the way to being a part of an experience weekly static clear group, myself. Meanwhile, I have friends that went a different route, and were functionally invited into a 9-man group and were carried through the wings several times. Even though they were handed raids on a silver platter, it only took them ~3 clears before they were experienced enough that I was comfortable inviting them into my own group when we needed a sub.

The only exception to this are a handful of roles that really require some past mechanical experience/practice. Chronomancers and their quickness rotations, Druid and their healing, and Engineers for their complicated DPS rotations. Other roles are much less demanding and pretty easy to enter the raiding world with.
