I thought of a possible mechanic where maybe Winston's gun when used inside the shield on actual enemies could "charge" the shield and regenerate it a bit. Not too much but just enough to make linger more, and maybe increase its already long recast time a bit more.

Probably not a great idea but I just kind of wish there were a way to make it possible for Winston to be more of a defensive character or manage to be a main tank more successfully than the dive-centric tactics he's used for at the moment most of the time.

I don't think this is true. It's more that every other hero in overwatch has a much lower skill cap than genji does. A pro player can get 10x the usefulness playing genji as he could playing soldier or reaper, just because there's more potential.

How would /owg/ raise the skillcaps of the rest of OW's heroes? How would you make them so that they could be better in higher levels of play without just making them OP?

Are you sure D.Va's counts damage? The projectiles just straight up disappear whereas Reinhardt's shield actually has health to deal damage to.

Yeah, Genji doesn't become a fucking Uchiha until you learn to manage cooldowns and combo effectively, but he is perfectly accommodating to low skill players. The fact this translates to an advantage in higher quality play is an even bigger sign of trouble.

It's not that Genji is too strong, it's that his counters are too weak. Remember back when fan the hammer did 70 damage? At that time people went on about how Genji sucked because McCree shat all over him. Now that fan got nerfed, McCree has a harder time shutting down Genji (although it's still possible). Winston is meant to be another counter but he does so little damage it doesn't really work out.

Then the players who have the capability to interrupt his ult should be waiting for it. I mean fuck, all Zenyatta has to do is press q when he gets his ult and the genji ult is rendered utterly useless. A Lucio ult can buy everyone enough time to focus on the genji in full. There are ults that outdamage that ult and you don't see people screaming for nerfs to those (yet) do you?

His shuriken are low damage too, others with a lot more long range damage get their ults just as fast and without the added necessity of needing make the ult work since its all in the Genji players' hands.

I'm still not even remotely convinced he needs to be nerfed. Every complaint I've heard is completely and utterly managable.

The current top tier McCree has a button he can press to deal with Genji, even during his ult (and I don't want to hear that he can reflect it, you shouldn't be throwing it AT people.)

The two big supports at the moment, Zen and Lucio, have ults that if saved completely invalidate Genji's ult.

Honestly every complaint I'm hearing about Genji sounds like player-error and bad judgement to me. McCree pre nerf had an innate advantage baked into his kit that allowed him to easilly kill even tanks at close range, and currently he almost single handedly invalidates Widowmaker. It's not a comparable situation.

1. The ult pulls the ball to you. So don't stand still unless you want a big fucking ball to slam you in the face.
2. Accordingly, that means that when you pull the ball behind the goalie, you should be pretty far behind the goal
3. Getting behind the goal is fucking useless if they know you're there.
3. You always want to pull the ball when it has GREAT air, and is on your half of the field. This ensures that you prevent blocking in an optimal way.
4. Sometimes they have a really good goalie. That means that you have to push him out of the way in a critical time.

Balls that are high in the air are more difficult (nearly impossible) to predict and serve, partially due to 20 tick, and also partially because hitting a ball in mid-air is hard as fuck in general. Which is why having the ball in the air 50% of the time is a good idea, if your teammates can follow up with it.

"Defense" roles are counterintuitive, because you can be assault as fuck with Mei, Junkrat, and Widowmaker.
The problem with all 3 of them is that you can't count on them to be your team's main source of damage. Dedicated attack heroes will always be better at that (except Genji)

Essentially, you had best think of "Defense" role heroes as more of a "Attack-supporter", because they make it much easier for actual attackers to deal real damage to the other team.

I never said they weren't support heroes. Guess what, both of them can either kill or knock away Genji. I've practically two shotted a Genji as Zen on multiple occasions with Discord. And I don't even want to hear that Lucio is somehow always at Genji's mercy when he has a free "get away from me" button and the ability to go consistently faster than any other character in the game at a moments notice. It's also the team's job to be looking out for you too if they can. Even throwing out a simple "care for genji" in chat can help. Sorry "champ" but still not convinced this is anything more than bad judgement or blatant failures to communicate with your own team.

If the Genji gets the drop on you and successfully kills you then good on them, he's a fucking Ninja that's the point of the character. What do you want him to not be good at the way he's supposed to be played?

If you see a Genji is on the other team, assume immediately they're going to be stalking the backline characters otherwise you have nothing else but yourselves to blame.

This picture made me think of a few other "lore" things.

One is that this isn't some future where old west-style cowboys are normal again. McCree's just a dork who watched too many old westerns.

It's also interesting that McCree is standing all the way across from where Reaper is, and that Rein's got his arm around his shoulder - I've seen people claim that McCree was only involved with Blackwatch and didn't have much connection with the normal Overwatch, but this illustration implies otherwise.

Another is that I can't help but notice how Pharah is positioned BETWEEN Ana and Soldier, and how smug he looks standing behind her. That seems to go along pretty well with what everybody's already been suspecting.

Also, young Pharah looks like Ranka from Macross Frontier.

As for the other characters, people seem to be pretty sure that the guy on the left is Liao, girl on the right is anybody's guess though. I'd guess she's NOT Sombra, because Reaper's past with her and the hints we've had make me think she was either Blackwatch or never part of OW, and that girl doesn't seem to be wearing a BW uniform.

I'm calling it right now. Assuming Sombra can be broken out of stealth by a hit (and if that doesn't turn out to be the case then this is all moot), then Zarya climbs the ranks tremendously by spinning in circles around the group with the laser on.
