call me a complete retard, but when starting at the very beginning of the browserhax part of the guide, do I still use the stock sd card that came with my 3ds or do I already use the big one I bought?

So, when downgrading my rednand to 2.1.0, everything goes smooth until it comes to a line about NFIRM. At that point I always get the error screen. The guide mentions making sure I'm using the latest version of Reinand, but as far as I know I'm not using Reinand. It then mentions making sure I never changed anything in secureinfo_A of both emu and sysnand, but I never touched those.

So what gives?

I've been out of the 3ds homebrew scene for a while.

Pretty easy. Do you only want GC games? GC stuff requires only that you install the Homebrew Channel and run Nintendont.

Is this guide updated? The FAQ still says you need a game to downgrade from 10.6 / 10.7
>>
>>150529879
Maybe its different for you, but I didn't own a DSi. I had a DS Lite, then a n3DS, so I had to buy a charger and only have one. If you're buying every hardware refresh you're wasting your money to be able to play the same games, but hey, I guess you at least have some chargers to show for it.
>>
>>150529937
I dunno why the fuck are you bringing the PS1/2/3 into this but:

With those, even the video cables are interchangable! That's convenience.

1st gen Vitas only have their proprietary shit cable that can only work with them. That's retarded. And that's the model with the better screen.

And if you want the convenience of Micro-USB, is at the cost of a shittier screen to play games on. My IPS N3DS screen looks better.
>>
>>150530258
Its still relevant, regardless if it says 10.6/10.7 .

I dunno, I just truly find it amusing that this is such an inconvenience for you. Whenever I need to travel I have a backpack, that's more then enough to hold the charger. On top of that, I personally prefer the proprietary cable because it snugly holds onto the vita. Micro-usb in my experience is incredibly finicky if you're trying to charge and use the device at the same time.

>>150530856
One would assume the one provided by the .me would update the install link.

It would have taken the 3DS hacking scene forever to crack it themselves. Without it essentially being given to them, they wouldn't have made much progress.

Wether or not the localization companies go under, games continue getting released in moonspeak.

However, we were talking about localizations. Other anon said that if piracy comes out, companies like XSEED die/stop porting vita stuff since the vita is pretty much a walking corpse (in the west, of course). I said they will probably keep selling since their fanbase is dedicated enough, so we'll get more english vita releases so there is nothing to worry about.

>since their fanbase is dedicated enough
I um. Anyways ignoring the silly Free > loyalty every time argument.

>"[A] publishers tended to be most concerned about piracy on the Nintendo DS in certain regions of the world, such as Europe," Ong explains. "This directly affected the distribution and marketing efforts of our games within those regions."

>"A publisher would go as far as to avoid spending the investment necessary to even release our game in Europe due to their projections of how piracy would impact its sales."

And:

>"Publishers end up catering to that type of buyer instead of the enthusiast/hardcore players. This means that not only are gamers presented with more and more sports/licensed/sequel games in favor of original IP games, but also that even within non-original IP games, the type of design and gameplay will tend toward less innovative/risky mechanics."

The "but fans will still be the sole market' argument is both false and silly.
>>
>>150539575

>>
>>150540080

You misunderstand. I'll be fully interested in the Vita once it's fully hacked and can play pirated games. Until then though, I have absolutely zero interest. I have a Vita TV that I bought for $25 over a year ago, and all it does is sit there and collect dust until they day piracy is available. The last time I turned it on was way back when you could hack the whitelist.

"Homebrew" though is complete and utter shit, and anyone deluding themselves into think it's somehow better than piracy is insane. It's like the blowhards on GBAtemp for example. They seem to go ape shit if you ask them about how to enable piracy. It's like back in the day when rxTools was the first CFW to allow full blown piracy (besides Gateway), everyone (including Roxas) got insanely butthurt about it.
>>

Unless it becomes stable, it isn't worth it anon. Just look at the votes. I'm going with the majority ruling on this.

Not the same game, Swordcraft is spin off. DS/ps1 are the main line. DS has more missions and playble characters, but the game is super easy and you get all weapons early on. PS1 is hard as dicks and the more fun if you like the s in srpg but the balance is all whacked in favor of the ai and some weapons types get the shaft because they are only available at the end of the game, like bows. That is for summon night 1.

Mine is getting really old now, so I ordered a "new" one recently. Every N64 emulator has been left at "it's good enough" and built with archaic methods in mind. (plugins) Also it's stuck in a strange limbo when it's not simple enough like nes and snes which has been done to death but is easier than ds and psp but not interesting/in heavy development.

OOT and MM are pretty much the only reason to ever emulate n64, and coincidentally, both are ported to the 3DS, making the system completely pointless to emulate. Oh not to mention Starfox 64 which also was ported to 3DS. I can't really even think of another game I'd play. Shadows of the Empire maybe? Rampage World Tour wasn't terrible. Jet Force Gemini was good I suppose. That's about it really.

N64 emulation is just shit because it's complicated, I am pretty sure they know all the inner workings already. Saturn is in way worse shape than N64 though, they need a savior badly. Retroarch is not a complete package, each core is its own CIA and runs as a standalone program. You can't switch cores on the fly like you can on PC, you have to exit and load another core. Same deal on Vita.

Original Vita has a better, brighter screen with better colors but a higher burnout rate. You wouldn't notice it with most games, but Vanillaware (Dragon's Crown, etc.) games and Tearaway look significantly better on the original Vita.

The new model is the Slim version. More ergonomic, thinner, better battery life, no proprietary connector - it's better in every way except the screen, which you wouldn't really notice unless you're playing specific games.

100% depends on the previous console owner.

When Sony refurbishes a unit, they fix the issue if their is one, and then they replace the outer casing, sticks, and buttons. That's it.

With OLED's and how they exist, they can burnout after continuous use - I would be very hesitant about getting one, because Sony isn't guaranteed to replace the OLED on refurbished units.

Some games have reasonable timed plats or are basically unmissable by the time you complete them casually (like Zero Escape).

Oreshika gives you an option when you start to control the pace of the game, I'm just interested in knowing how the plat works into it.

Most people looking to get a vita are probably mainly interested in the niche Japanese third party localization games. In which case the better graphics and character aesthetics of the OLED will be very important to them. If you don't care about niche titles, then I guess that saving $50 on a slim model would be a reasonable compromise to those people.

I'd personally prefer the slim as a successor to the PSP for portable emulation simply due to the size/weight reductions and slightly extended battery life. Seems worth it given the focus.

Never change, GBAtemp.

I'd love an alternative to the native solutions to see what we can do without them. For instance, the native PS1/PSP options lack FFing, savestates, cheats, and even scaling/remap options on PSTV.

Yes it can, you just need another 3ds on CFW already.

Nintendo patched out any way for any game or software to directly access the sysNand while we use it as of 11.0.

The one thing they couldn't patch out was DSiWare, and that's because they live in sysNand and require access to it to function. Even if Fieldrunners/Legends gets removed, any DSiWare game that can read a save file can perform this once we write the proper save file for it.

Do I play games off an external? All I ahve is 160gb internal.
>>
It's okay if I login Nintendo if I got A9HL with many pirated games?
>>
>>150563393

Yes

You can choose either. I chose to upgrade my internal. If you're using pkg+rap you can only use internal I believe.
>>
>>150563451
Yeah, i've even downloaded shit from the official eshop.
Nintendo doesn't seem to have a way of tracking if you have officially or unofficially installed games if you use .cias at least.
>>
Don't care about piracy but is there any chance of this making switching profiles on the Vita easier? I have plenty of games on 2 separate accounts and it's a pain in the ass to switch.

Just a quick question, since I'm using a regular Vita and not a PSTV, do I leave it as the way it is in top or change it to the path in the bottom?

I'm still running a vita with 3.18 and roughly 30 gigs of PS1 games on it. Should I uninstall all of the games from PSP/Game before updating?

Tried my P4G cart via gro0: and it worked fine.

Does anyone have a dumped copy of Oreshika?
