So I got into RF4 and couldn't get into it as much as I did into RF3 (probably because I chose hard mode...which is really fucking hard). But I want to try again and see where it gets me. The other walkthrough, I believe that what I did was beat the first act, how long is the game apart from this?

Also, any recommendations for what I should be focusing on, early game?

It's been a while since I booted 3V since I've been busy with monster hunter, but I played yesterday and got Kasumi's yellow flower event.

This one I'm not really sure about the content. It was a lot of text and my moon still isn't very good.

Basically you walk into the bathhouse and you see that Kasumi is also there. You exchange a few words and part ways, but before you head into the baths you get stopped by Hinata and Yuzuki. The three of you decide to go in together.

You exit the bath and find Kasumi chatting with Komari in the lobby. You then get a flashback to a scene featuring Kasumi and Shizu (MILF that makes clothing in Tsuyukusa).

She gets flustered when Shizu brings up the fact that she has a boyfriend now. Then a nameless NPC enters the scene and makes everything uncomfortable for both of them. Pretty sure he's flirting with both of them too.
Kasumi has a problem with men and them getting too close to her, so she knocks him out.

It then cuts back to the bathhouse and when Komari asks if your character also makes her feel uneasy she starts gushing about how you're different and lets some of her feelings out.
What she doesn't know is that You, Hinata, and Yuzuki heard everything she just said. Everyone is really embarrassed and she's speechless. Event ends with her excusing herself and running out of the bathhouse.

Like I said before, take everything I say with a grain of salt.

Finally getting around to Story of Seasons, just entered first year of winter. Had a question: I set my birthday as Fall 4 and it happened to overlap with the Concert Festival. I only got dialogue that pertained to the concert.

Is it simply that I am not friendly enough with the villagers for them to realize the day yet or can the festival take priority over the birthday dialogue?

So when it comes to choosing a waifu, do you have a type? Or at least some kind of traits (physical or personality) that you like?

For me, glasses are my main turn on, if there's a waifu with glasses I almost always go for her. Lately I've also had a thing for girls in labcoats, but I don't think we've ever had one in these games.

Personality wise, I don't have any particular preferences as long as they're written well, but smart girls turn me on, I also have a soft spot for girls who start out distant or aloof, before gradually opening up to the MC.
Angela and Maerwen were probably my overall favorites, I also really liked Flora and Dolce. From what I've heard of her, I'll probably go with Kasumi in Three Towns.

There is no framerate problem 99% of the time, only one small area that kind of lagged for me but it was nothing really serious.

The trailer made me wary of the game too but it seems like they managed to fix the framerate at the last second.

I...I don't think I can go back to this after RF4. The sense of having to frantically rush everywhere if I want to be able to get things done on time just kills the comfiness.

I guess RF4 spoiled me by having things like your stamina/health and watering can level and other such things visible instead of hidden behind approximations, and the timescale is definitely much faster, it's 4 seconds for 10 minutes in-game, which is made even worse when you consider how the town's kind of sprawled out and people work much shorter hours (usually around 10-4 whereas with RF4 it's usually a 9-6) so if you're trying to socialize or shop you have to do a mad scurry to hit as much as you can in the limited window of opportunity. Time being frozen in buildings doesn't help since it's the commutes that're the real time killers.

I can confirm, I found my GBA the other day and it still had FoMT in it, time does go faster, though I think it's slower than SoS, specially because time freezes inside buildings.

It's great that HM and SoS go faster though, planning your schedule and getting it done is incredibly rewarding, RF4 is way too lax to the point of being boring at times (unless I'm farming crafting materials).

I disagree, RF4's timescale gave you time to stop and smell the roses whereas HM always felt like you had to be running at full tilt from the start to get things done. And even then RF4 could still absorb quite a bit of time to get things done and it was only after you hit the end-tier of tools that you could blitz through chores so easily as to have tons of free time for loligagging.

Anon, in my last playthrough I hit Rune Prana in Year 1 Autumn 12. And that wasn't even playing at full HM pace, that's how much free time RF4 gives you to relax.

I think HM64 has the fastest time though. I can't get shit done in a day. Also, can one befriend people while they're working? Because otherwise, they're behind locked doors and I don't have enough FP to see them there.

Only RF4 (and probably RF3, but I'm not sure, it certainly has no way near the same amount as RF4) has more dialogue than SoS, the other entries have about the same as HM entries.

And I disagree about HM's being more dry. Characters do feel as alive in HM as they do in RF, it's just that they're mostly normal people instead of having notorious gimmicks like a lot of RF characters. It's not like one of the franchises has deeper characters, they're both about the same, just different styles (though it's nice that HM64 did tackle more serious issues with it's characters).

And this is my opinion, but I'd rather have more normal dialogue than the zany dialogue of RF3/4, that's why my favorites are RF2 and RFF, that have pretty similar writing style to HM, even if a bit more comical (or even satirical at times), the best of both worlds.

Anon, I only called HM64 harder because it really is harder than the rest of the series.

It's one of the few entries where you can easily fail and miss stuff if you're not using any kind of internet info, time going faster only increase these chances.

I do like it though, and I like planning my schedule.

I don't know, I don't want to turn it into a "well, back in my day..." kind of thing but I played HM64 for the first time when I was seven years old with no guide and I certainly never felt like I was missing out on anything so huge that I could no longer enjoy the experience of simply playing through it. Also I wasn't necessarily complaining about you specifically. It's just that sometimes I wonder if all this "being too spoiled to play other games now" that RF4babies are constantly whining about is actually just brain damage.

You miss that evaluation and photographs, also some people actually had Karen leaving because they ignored her. I've also read plenty of people before (in this general and other threads) complaining about how "hard" it is (even though I don't find it hard, just harder than other entries), so there is something to it.

Don't get me wrong anon, I also played it without any guides back then (though I played it post-2000 in an emulator, around 2002 I think), and thoroughly enjoyed it, but it's an undeniable truth that you CAN miss stuff without a guide.

I don't think it's brain damage, people nowadays just have different tolerance to difficulty/stress and they're accustomed to different pacing from a game. When I play RF4 I do it in a pretty efficient way, which ends up in me getting through most of the content in a shorter time than most (aside from stuff that requires heavy crafting and a lot of drops), but that's only because I'm used to playing HM. I think that the way other people play RF4 is perfectly okay and if they can relax while doing it then good for them.

So for a long time I was playing a cracked version of Earth Defense Force 4.1 (with 3DM crack), and now that I bought the game is there any way to transfer the save files from the cracked version to your steam account? Because I don't want to start again, and neither my pal since we unlocked a lot of things playing local.

I remember a trick with Dark Souls 3 where if you enter the game, go to the character selection screen, alt tab and swap the save files, go back to the game and load, then it magically overwrites that character save slot. So basically you can transfers characters to any steam account.

But it doesn't work with this game, if I attempt this it says the save slot is corrupt.

You mean the Documents\My Games\EDF 4.1 saves? The one thing I can think of is that there was a recent patch that rolled out for legit versions which may be getting snagged on something in pirated saves. Might also depend on which files you're overwriting, I haven't had to do a reload yet after backing up my own stuff but overwriting stuff piecemeal and seeing which one or which combo does the trick might get it done.

Alternatively, you could use CE to rebuild your progress to an approximation on a new file or wait for a save editor to come out, which I'm sure is already in the works if nothing more than to get around the separate SP/MP progress thing.

Have you befriended her, talk her outside her shop or anything like that? It's impossible for a HM character to keep saying the same thing forever unless she's bugged or you simply reached max friendship (even then she should have other dialogue depending where she is).
