I think I'm underleveled in DDS1. I need to complete the dungeon with the brutes but all the bosses are kicking my ass, and all the characters are only around lvl40. I knew I shouldn't have escaped from random encounters but it's too late to say that. How close to the ending am I at this point in the game? Will I need to grind in DDS2 too by the way?

Brutes is the last tribe before the final dungeon, but the final dungeon is a bit long but good. If you can't beat the bosses you either need to grind a few levels or optimize your party for the bosses. Unless you're going for the special bosses in the final dungeon in DDS2, there's no need for grinding. Did you mean to post that picture?

Have you been tailor making good demons by covering their weaknesses and watching what stats they inherit?
Like for instance right before you fuse a demon if you notice they'll have higher stats on that page than the previous page. But if you reset the fusion and go into the fuse screen again with the same two demons you'll notice the extra stat distribution is different.
Even without your demons doing any damage if you get 3 holy dance strikes instead of the minimum two then you'll wipe anything without endure

With 40 mag you can drain like 500 hp and mp off of opponents it's actually pretty great for bosses since you can just take away all their MP to make it easier
Belberith is one of the many "casual filters" (no offense) since his infinite range is intimidating and a lot of averages players don't like specifically planning for just one foe
Get flight/phantasm and devilspeed so you can teleport over to him
should be over in like 5-6 turns at best including flying over to him

8/10, better than SH if only because it's more focused and doesn't leave any open ends. The gameplay is more balanced than SH which was pretty goddamn easy outside like, the Finnegan duel and Manitou. The game also has a better fusion system and has better mystic-change and sword fusion. It's more of a SMT game than SH. Overall, I think the Raidou games never fully captured the mood of DS/SH correctly.

Yeah, the game has a lot more in common with SMT1/2, not even going off the SMT1 divergence. The sword fusion is a lot like 1/2 where you have to collect multiple swords and fuse demons with different blades in different chains, but raise loyalty to do so. It was great because you always could be looking to upgrade your weapons and equipment, from mystic changing Hairy Jack into a club, to turning Pyro Jack into a cape, or Nekomata into a bazooka. The dungeons have some great music, and there's plenty of enemies still not recycled out of DS1. The setting is pretty interesting, and I hope the hacking is finished eventually because it's somewhat interesting despite less of a cast-focus like SH.

I'd have to fault the Loyalty system though, because it's less refined than SH. There's 3 types, neutral-demons must be given lifestones/beads/jewels to rank up, light demons rank up through usage, and dark demons rank up through level difference. This makes Neutral demons easy to rank up in the endgame, but light demons can be a pain, especially since they take a lot of time and are necessary for a lot of ultimate armor and weapons.

Keisuke wasn't the true law at all. He was just angry. Something that law figures are supposed to never be. Amane was law, but keep in mind that as II showed, law isn't about yhvh. Its about law. Law figures work for their idea of the greater good. The interesting critique here is that amane thinks that siding with them to become messiah is the best good if you're still up for it. But in the absence of that, she realizes that yhvh has problems himself, and so if gone against directly there may be issues and they'll no longer be for the best to align with.

Interestingly, this actually makes this more similar to mainline than people think. People often note that in devil survivor YHVH seems to be a lot nicer and at least plausibly has people's good in mind. That all ties together. He is a god who was smart and powerful and got himself in charge and in some sense thought he could make everything work out for the best. But he's not infallible. Just a fatherly figure with a lot of power. Devil survivor takes place in a world where he's not quite as jaded yet. His system can still be used aligning with him for their better good. But mainline games take place at a point where its obvious he's just too far gone. Either way the angels will carry on, but the difference is whether they still consider him an asset or a detriment.

Amane ditching them for you was her probably realizing that he snapped. And so regardless of the well intentions of the angels, things were not going to go well since the rube level ones still think of him as in charge of them in this universe. As such, it would be better to go with you, and hope that after the fact she can influence you in the end to be more peaceful. Its similar to how in IV on the chaos end mastema refuses to fight you, but places the seeds of doubt in you by offhandedly commenting about how going against the true path is a way to ultimately learn why it exists in the first place.

I disagree. The Law and Chaos routes are exactly the same in regards to ideology and Neutral has three variations with two of them being very Neutral.
Dagda's route being the most independent, Danu's bound to gods and demons (with all the risks), and the Polytheistic Alliance neutral is probably the least neutral because humanity (fuck yeah) has nothing to say in it, considering how each world is ruled by a different god (if Krishna didn't plan to fuck them over), you could say it's the most uncertain one because we know nothing about how each god would rule.
Thinking more about it Dagda's route is pretty similar to DeSu2's Alcor ending, depends on what kind of ruler Nanashi turns out to be though.

Alignments are pretty universal unless you think YHVH=Law, humanity=Neutral, Lucifer=Chaos. The only game that went really against the standard concepts of alignment is Nocturne and even there we have alignment (influences in the first) with Yosuga, Freedom and TDE.

Listen to the music in-game, then listen to the mp3 of the music in Audacity and cut and paste parts until it's identical to what you would hear in-game and continue until the play time is as long as you want it to be. I guess another way would be to have a program that plays the music, but stops and re-plays the looping part seamlessly in that you wouldn't notice when it stops what it's currently playing and goes back to the beginning. Otherwise the only other option is to leave the game running.

I think it was just to pull off a YHVH ala SMT2, to match IV's SMT1 feel. Satan was supposed to look real different according to concept art, but Doi wasn't allowed to stray too far into what he wanted (which was Kaneko as fuck) because Atlus wanted things to appeal to the newer fans.
Whole game was just one big experiment for Atlus to see if they can take bits and pieces of Persona's success and apply it to mainline, which worked both good and bad.

With what they learned here, we'll probably see an SMT5 that strays from the formula and has designs that look more like what they're based off instead of just cool ones. People in moonland have been very vocal about the parts they hate, and also the parts that they love (STEVEN hype is at a high, and so is bittersweet trauma, so I can't wait.)

They hated how Poly didn't have a route, and there was a shitty reason for Vishnu being there.
They disliked the way the routes weren't as balanced, and that Satan looked weird, but it wasn't that bad, considering the circumstances. Speaking of which, they dislike that Atlus might not give mainline as much reign as they want, but some see it as just a FINAL problem.
They were neutral about the friends. If they changed more throughout the choices in your save, and toned down the happy a tiny bit, it'd have been fine. Team members in battle are appreciated, they just wish there'd be different members instead of having them all by the end. I guess the loneliness of Nocturne is like a half-and-half sort of thing, with some liking it and some preferring the other.
They were glad Flynn had a happy end for once, since he seems to be huge. "Thank goodness, cockroach hair is going to be okay" or something, which I don't really get still.
They really liked the crossover DLC, since they know it's just fun sillyness like every MegaTen game has, and it's nice to see love for older characters.

What is that list even supposed to be? Worldwide? Japan-only? We don't have full worldwide numbers for most games in the series. We know that SMTIV eventually sold 600k+ worldwide, and Persona 4 Gold by itself reached 1 million worldwide.

If it's Japan-only, it's wrong. Persona Q barely surpasses SMTIV by itself in sales. If you add Final it's nowhere close.
