Not really no. The game sort of discourages multiple accounts, because you have to do days' worth of quests each time you level a new character. If you're a mega-autist raider or crafter you might have another account or maybe two extra, but it's not like Eve where you need 5 accounts to even get your foot in the door

I see people here complaining about the 2.xx quests, alas, not only here, but in other websites too, but i find them ao good in the job of worldbuilding, and that in a mmo is really great. One of my joys in a MMO is being able to immerse myself in there, and forget my shitty life, and FF XIV does that so well, even the sidequests are comfy and have some nice story in there.

That said, the mechanic of "Kill X/Deliver X" can be annoying, and if you're just scrolling the story, something that will happen eventually with 2+ characters, i can agree that it gets boring as hell.

i would honestly feel nothing if Kirito Tia died except for a feeling of happiness that the piece of shit is gone from this world

Summoner is fine. If you can't enter Midas normal to grind for gear (which will surely make you quit again), do void ark to get farthings, then buy eso gear and use the farthings to upgrade the eso gear. Then you do weeping city for a weekly 230 drop and roulettes for lore (230/240) gear. You'll get a left or right side upgrade from weeping city once a week also

At i185, you should camp out in Void Ark to get Esoterics and Mhachi Farthings. VA itself will drop i200 gear, Esoterics will buy more i200 gear, and Mhachi Farthings will upgrade the Esoteric gear to i210.

Once you get to i200, you can start doing Normal Mode Midas, which you can run for tokens that trade in for i220 gear. Once you're at i205, you should start doing Weeping City of Mhach, which will drop a (weekly-locked) piece of i230 gear, and will give you Mhachi Pennies, which can be traded in for the current tier of upgrade tokens.

If you have spare gil, you can short-circuit a lot of that by buying i220 gear outright, and you can also use Lore tomestones to buy i230 gear, which upgrades to i240 with upgrade items you buy with the items from Weeping City.

Summoner is pretty good.

then when you reach the hurdle (3,3 dungeons/nidhogg) grind eso and void ark for eso gear and eso upgrade coins. when you get the full set you can do alexander 5-8 normal once a week and then weeping city once a week (205ilvl) for lore upgrade coins (230->240)
expert roulette gives you 215 gear and jewlery and a lot of lore

and thats about it unless you can do ex primals or are willing to mindlessly grind the new palace of the dead for a 235 weapon

I realized I hate my current job at 60, so I went back to level my old 50 on Zelara, mainly to save its minion and bikini collection from a terra-bad server. But holy hell this place is dead. I did the Yokai event and kept seeing the same ten people. Mor Dohna only has three people max, I only counted 4 people in Limsa during peak hours once and two were gold sellers. The worst thing was everyone there had no idea that most servers were not this empty. Zelara makes me sad.

Look what abilities you're giving up by not using a jobstone.

Just for an example I'll use THM and BLM.

By dropping your jobstone you lose the ability to use Fire 4 at all, Enochian which even ignoring the access it gives to Fire 4 is a near 100% uptime 5% damage boost, Ley Lines, Sharpcast, Manawall and Apocatastasis, even fucking Flare.

You know what you get access to instead? Utterly worthless garbage like Aero, Raise, Stoneskin, Keen Flurry, Foresight. Sure there's some good abilities, Convalesence might have a very niche use, Second Wind is alright in a pinch and Blood for Blood or Internal Release are decent damage cooldowns, but Enochian still has a higher average damage boost than both of them and that's just one ability.

In a perfect world, where you have options available for all three types? Kite shields are best for dungeons or bosses with multi-hit physical tankbusters, Tower shields are best for most other bosses.

Realistically, you don't have any meaningful choice. There are five shields in the game right now with a high-enough iLevel to be viable (Midan, Relic, Lore, Horde, Padjali), and every single one is a Kite shield.

Nope. The strongest Tower shield in the game is still the 210 Gordian shield.

Tower Shield doesn't refer to the visual style of the weapon, but how the Block Rate and Block Strength compare.

Tower Shields are the ones with high Block Strengths, but low chances to block.

Kite Shields have balanced Block Rate/Strength.

Bucklers have a high chance to block, but a low Block Strength.


However SE basically treats non-Kite shields the way that they treated one-handed WHM/BLM weapons.

Three. And the reasons for them are pretty obvious, because I just described the differences between them.

It's a half-baked idea, though, and could be immensely improved if SE actually wanted to with only a tiny amount of effort, but I get the sense that they just want to distill it down to one kind of shield.
