I'm obviously talking about a scenario where ranked was a forced BO3. The part I'm really trying to push is "If ranked was BO3 then..." which I thought was clear enough, but you're right that it isn't working.
If you start a ranked BO3 or a FT10 or whatever and leave in the middle because you really need to go or whatever I'm not sure anyone will care if it's 2 seconds before a match starts or 2 seconds into the match, even though one is ""in the middle of gameplay"" and one is not, rather if they care at all it's about you leaving in the middle of the set.

People didn't get nearly as butthurt over ragequits in SF4 nor did people do it as much.

climbing out of silver is a sea of rage quitting golds, scrubby silvers fought in horrible rollback, and people with less points who scrub out 1 win in the bo3 and don't run back, making it so you now have to play 10 more matches to get to where you were considering that 6 of them are going to be rage quits and at least one of the other 4 will have horrible connectivity issues

casual matches should let you continue to fight each other until one of you backs out, right now there's no way to get endless sets going outside of battle lounges and it can be hard to find someone to run sets with

Learn some meaties and how to anti-air. St mk isn't that bad but get used for cr hp, it's far more reliable against jumpins.

EX dash is invulnerable to hits but can be thrown. If you have bar and you're being pressured just command dash out of it and hit a button or just go up close, fish for a throw and start putting shit in the air. Assuming you're playing someone who has no idea of the matchup, start with mp upballs, follow with hk ryobenda, mp\lp upballs hk ryuobenda. Repeat until they get frustrated or they realise to use something that bypasses projectiles.

Coward crouch is positive on block. Feel free to abuse the shit out of coward crouch kicks -> lp lk coward crouch ad infinitium and eventually you might score a hit if they don't v-reversal. If you hit, follow up with st mk xx lk ryobenda.

If you hit with sotoja lk command dash to st hk is autotimed meaty IIRC.

If you land a backthrow you're essentially setting up very simple vortex since you can just keep backthrowing them, meaty, bait a dp or shimmy at ease.

If you get cc sweep you're free to set up lp upballs and ex commanddash to the other side. Even if they dp you're safe and they just got hit by one of the balls and you can continue employing minefield. EX upballs also allow free safejump so feel free to use that too.

I don't main Fang but I've started playing him recently so I hope helps even a bit.
