That's not a good comparison. Riku is a fairly well written character with major plot importance and has an interesting story line, all things which Inaho doesn't have. There's no reason to like her or her story and the forced switching would've been better if you were forced to switch into a likeable character. Recent anime episode have even taken out her segemnts; Level-5 has hopefully realized their mistake and is in the progress of throwing her out of the franchise.

Demo is agreed to be a pretty poor representation of the main game, though i wouldnt know since i didnt try the demo. It depends on what you're looking for to say it's worth it. It has a nice overworld in the detail town you inhabit, a good amount of youkai to befriend, and plentiful sidequests to complete. The battle system is pretty simplistic and is pretty much up to the individual if they'll enjoy it.

A lot of things actually, which can be summed up by strict, constraining contracts that limits as to what works a voice actor does until it expires or requirements met (usually the completion of dubbing/voice acting).

Also I translated something interesting from Sangokushi's extra descriptions on the yokais (which isn't on the wiki)

Apparently he and Tuchigumo are brothers and they got along quite well first. But then Mc Kraken exiled him or made him not a general anymore like Tuchigumo; this made Jorogumo butthurt and started doing bad shit (like eating people/poisoning). Now Joro and Tuchi don't get along anymore.

(don't take my translation word for word, I'm not fluent in moons yet)
I'm assuming this description applies to Jorogumo, but again it could be the general class description and doesn't apply to Joro himself.

I could probably go check some more out if anyone's interested.

nevermind I think the description only explains some chinese history shit and the names that come after, (like Jorogumo Enshou) are based on real ching chong people.
But regardless, I think it gives hints to some of the yokai's back stories. I remember a few anons on 2ch discussing the Sangokushi and how it related to Yokai Watch's lore.

anyway here's Ogama.

Ogama wanted to rebel against Mc Kraken who was doing bad things and formed his army.
He was successful, but didn't kill Mc Kraken. This was apparently shamfur/Ogama should of killed Mc Kraken, and some of Ogama's army men were pissed about it. As a result, his army fell apart/ they became separate.

Ogama was also in good terms with Tuchigumo, and Ogama self-proclaimed himself as general but no one really took him seriously (because he was hot-blooded and had a personality that wasn't too regal)

Basically Tuchigumo was more liked by the higher class and thus became a respected general. Ogama meanwhile continued to lose battles and died of AIDS (disease) 2 years after calling himself general officially.

But regardless, Ogama is still well respected for being smart and charismatic

She never really had any identity of her own, the anime had to come up with something to differentiate her if she was ever going to be a character in it. It never gets better. Even in three with a full row of popularity yokai and max food AND MAX FRIENDSHIP GUN It's reset after reset after reset.

A lot of the garbage in yokai watch makes it feel like a pay 2 win game where there's not actual micro transaction component.

Everything about it feels like there's a dollar sign missing from it. Missed that S rank today? Come back to tomorrow or pay 99 cents. Want to roll again today? Come back or pay 99 for another RNG gachapon machine ride.

Even the tie in with the QR codes and medals don't really give you a benefit to fight the rng fest that is befriending yokai so it's not like they're behind a physical buy in wall.

I'll never understand why they do this shit. I spent an hour today getting BAD CHILDREN DON'T OBEY TRAFFIC LAWS for 3 and it took like a minimum of 40 resets throwing marbled beef after beef and firing the gun again and again to catch him. The weird save to protect against gaming the system is even worse since.

I truly will never understand why they do it. I know japs love their autistic grinds but who honestly wants to come back once a day to try once to catch something that would on average take like two weeks of resetting with OPTIMAL conditions.

The Americanization is a non-issue as far as I'm concerned. That sort of adaptation is expected. I don't think anyone in America can bring themselves to refer to pic related as Musashi and Yamato. Adapting something for American audiences doesn't really damage the product.

The Pokemon anime came out at a time when Americanizing characters was the norm. No one does that anymore, not even Beyblade. The games feature a lot of puns anyway so translating names works. There's nothing punny about "Keita".

The show's adaptation job is legendary. It helps that it had a good show to work with and was given a proper dub without cramming in a bunch of pop culture references like today's dubs would.

And, yes, Dentsu carved out everything interesting about LBX with a very broad stroke. There's a pair of thrilling episodes about stopping an assassination plot, but its was too much like JFK, so the axed it, even though the comparison actually made it more gripping.
