It's just an unintended side effect of the gym battles.

Battles that are finished with multiple people attacking gain more prestige upon finishing depending on how many people were attacking. If you're quick enough taking control after the battle the prestige is increased by the amount that would have been decreased had the gym still belonged to the opposing team. Normally you'd have to be lower CP than the pokemon you're training against to get 500 prestige, but using this method you can gain 4x that on each account without needing to be lower CP, and with the ability to use multiple pokemon.

Ideally though you'd simply attack a gym with 25 people at once and call it a day. Even if not all of them snagged the bonus prestige you'd still be able to skyrocket the gym to 50k simply by putting a single high CP pokemon with a weakness in slot 1 and grind that pokemon with the stronger typing until you hit 50, then drop 9 actually good pokemon in it to strengthen it.

It would take just a couple of minutes with good coordination. And level 10 gyms take up to an hour of dedicated fucking with to be taken down with shit pokemon in it. Drop enough shit wreckers in it and they'll have to whittle down each floor one at a time which would cost them upwards of a hundred revives or potions.

Yes, level 10 gyms with shitter pokemon in them get taken down, but they don't get taken down by one person in 10 minutes.

Level 10 gyms with good pokemon in them definitely don't get taken down in 10 minutes, not even by a decent sized group of attackers simply because they can't beat the 10th level of them gym without wasting a lot of time dodging or going floor by floor.

Level 10 gyms can be brought up from nothing in ~10 minutes with the right coordination of accounts. In addition to that, doing that expends almost no resources; just a couple of potions per account.

If you're really into screwing up a town, you can do it simply because taking the gyms back would no longer be worth the time and effort.

Yes, We know you can dodge all day long because you're a dodging god and this game is super duper easy; but you'd be wasting half of your day fighting a battle of attrition, and you'd be fighting alone fueled only by your butt angeryness.

You severely overestimate how quickly you can take down a level 10 gym by yourself. I know you think you're hot shit but even with perfect dodging and unbelievably high attack power, you would still have to complete the entire gym at least 9 times.

When I tell you it's possible to bring a gym up from nothing to level 10 in ~10 minutes, I'm not exaggerating.

Let me illustrate and assume you don't use the glitch to gain more prestige.

2k prestige for the only pokemon defender.
25 accounts train on that monster with a slightly lower CP monster. Takes 45 seconds. +12.5k prestige. Repeat that 3 more times. 50k gym. Place 9 high CP pokemon in it.

Where you would be smashing your head against it for an hour and a half.
