I fully admit this is the case, but collaboration seemed to happen more than I expected it to. Nothing really big or dramatic, most of it was small things. Most everyone lived very far apart, which was fine on TrainSerb what with all the travel enhancements. I did spend a good bit of time moving sand for other players, and was supplying our commie with sand almost on my own.

I'd say conservatively that about half the shit I made was set up for other people to use in addition to myself. Not saying anyone actually used it, though. They were either too far away for most people or redundant. I think my lava loading station saw the most use.

Tinkerer's Construct works for any version you'd be interested in trying. It has two primary focuses, it gives you tools with a strightforward enchanting system that make mining less slow and it has a multiblock smelter that doubles the value of ores you put into it.

Its a little more interesting than making a shitload of vanilla iron picks.

In general 1.7.10, 1.8.9 or 1.10.2(most recent) are the versions to use. 1.7.10 has the most mods, but feels dated.

The only time I played on a minecraft server was with my real life friends in high-school during the beta days.
Honestly that's the only way I would ever play MC multiplayer anymore.

Sure everyone is doing their own thing sometimes, but often we would build in clusters close together, so you would have the feeling that something was always happening around (aka you didn't feel completely alone in the world).
But sometimes we would take on projects together or somebody would ask for help on a certain project. And you of course had the commie storage.
And then there was also the chat, so you could still banter/hangout a bit even if you weren't close to each other

I've had fun with both Thaumcraft 4 (1.7.10) and 5 (1.8.9). Botaina isn't a bad mod despite what they say here. Unofficial Botania for 1.10.2. Botania's kinda main thing is tools and armor that repair with mana, but Tinkerer's makes them kinda unneeded.

Mostly though either do 1.10.2 or 1.7.10.

It's the illusion of a working conveyor belt to load the train, yes. The cars are loaded by Advanced Item Loaders placed beneath the track. This is one of the "made-for-all, used-by-one" things I was talking about.

Techincally, yes but in a roundabout way. Lighting up caves force more entities to spawn in a more compact space, so could possibly lower your framerate if you have a perimiter around a farm and you stare at it at full bore.

Nah, just kidding. The dirt block itself is fine; it's an environment feature, not intended as a resource. Yes, players use it for scaffolding and quick bridges, but that's due to the lack of better alternatives, not a problem. However, when it comes to dirt varieties...

Farmland: it has no fucking good reason to be a partial block, and it shouldn't - this creates bugs (jump on farmland, get stuck on the dirt) and aesthetic problems (when you side it with full blocks).

Grass: the grass itself should be its own block if the voxels were smaller. But considering 1m^3 voxels, the dirt becomes grass mechanic is fine.

Grass path: yeah, I can get why it was implemented, give shovels a better reason to exist. But it has the same problem as farmland (partial block for no reason), it's annoying to remove/undo and it lacks any meaningful mechanic besides "look pretty".

Mycelium: what a lost potential. Why on Earth did Mojang make mushroom biomes avoid spawning, when they could do it with mycelium itself instead?

Podzol: it's unconsistent with the grass and mycelium mechanics for the sake of "MUH REALISM". Really? In a game with exploding green penises, the devs still care more about realism than gameplay? Also solely aesthetic.

Coarse dirt: its unintended gameplay (turning gravel into dirt) is far more interesting than the block itself.

I'll stick to vanilla... Minecraft is one of the few games where even modders make better design decisions than the devs.

Minecraft ores have a rough division between "metals" (iron, gold) and "others" (quartz, coal, lapis, redstone). Metals can be used for tools, armour and swords and always need to be smelted; the others are directly dropped from the ores, cannot be used for tools/armour/swords and play specific roles.

Then you have diamond mixing both categories above. They work as endgame material both for metals and others, so anything that should be costly in vanilla (enchanting table, top tier equipment) ends using diamonds.
[Except if it's so costly that not even diamonds could cover - like the beacons.]

As a metal, they perform so fucking better than iron and gold that, provided you have enough diamonds, you have no reason to use anything else. They end too centralizing, and this stops the players from getting any meaningful choice to make.

[A quickie for modded: it overuses diamonds too, but vanilla is still to blame.]

Since I guess I'm now doing a complete re-write of atomic science, I guess I'm going to have to draw up some design documents.
The radiation system, atomic science's most important feature, is obviously the first thing that needs to be planned. I've got a lot of ideas, and plan on making it an actual thing, and adding the possibility of shielding stuff.

Should it be just a potion effect; or more? Like more than one potion effect? Or something that can build up over time, leading to worse effects, like in fallout?
I definitely want to add a gamerule like isWorldIrradiated that basically puts radiation everywhere; for stuff like maps/hqm or something. Hopefully I can re-implement it in a manner that isn't fucking laggy as shit.

Actual content wise, I'm going to try to implement everything the way it was in resonant induction:atomic age, which is the iteration of Atomic Science I've decompiled, so complexish multistep crafting process for uranium, fusion less so but it being a bitch to set up, etc. Mostly because I just want to get a working version running.
The microcrafting is probably going to be thrown out the window I hope. Should I actually get the fucking hang of this shit, I do plan on adding stuff, like LFT reactors and other things.

Graphically, I fucking hope I can find some way to rip the models, animations, and textures for the 3D stuff.
I don't really know.

Keep in mind that I have no idea what I'm really doing at this point, and it could all go horribly wrong. And I'm probably being overambitious.

An easy way to implement radiation is by using biomes. You just have to look into how taint and eerie biomes happen in Thaumcraft. However, that means that an entire column of the earth is immediately irradiated, making underground facilities that are rad-safe impossible.

Potion effects are a good idea too. Just have an invisible technical block that gives Radiation Sickness I to IV depending on how close the person is. It should also help with world generation, since you can just add "ore veins" of those technical blocks throughout the world.

I should have been more clear, I'm not entirely sure how to clone stuff off git into eclipse to take a look into it's source.
I can do it manually, but it's all fiddly, I know you can clone through eclipse or something, though I'm not sure how to make it work.
Eclipse is a lot more full featured than the IDE I first learned java with, it's much nicer, but I haven't quite sussed it all out yet.

Due to the new terrain gen, finding a mega taiga can be incredibly easy or hard depending on your spawn biomes.

Most of these are still well alive and kicking. At least for 1.7.10, anyway.
APS, I'll admit I never heard of - but BC has come a reasonable way. There are a lot of changes to power systems, and new mods with different power gen options now.
Railcraft is more of the same, but refined
ICBM kinda died after 1.6.4, and the "rewrite" for 1.7.10 didn't really stick. There are a couple of replacement options now though - DefenceTech is basically a straight port of how you probably remember it, made by the guy who does Mekanism, which might be up your alley. The other is Fission Warfare, which has a lot of the same features

Wanted to get back to playing Minecraft.
Installed Curse and downloaded a few Modpacks.
Almost all of them are super laggy even when just in the Main Menu.
For example:

I inserted Optifine and Fastcraft for both of them but it doesn't make any sense to me.
I've tried with 2G, 3G and 4G of RAM but it doesn't seem to matter.

I don't understand. Why is the game not working for me anymore even though I played it 100% perfect like a year ago?

Manufactured goods would be worth more depending on how much microcrafting is required for each item. There should be price incentives to ship in batches, but the market should react to massive influxes of new product. Prices should fluctuate in a semi-predictable manner.

It would be even cooler if there was a massive "over-market" that multiple different players could connect to allowing for industrial sabotage across independent servers!

Something like Enchanting Plus, but instead of going for the maximum level of an enchantment you need to start from level I (and upgrading it to II, III and so on will cost progressively more). That's not a problem at all. You are getting shapes right and it's one of the most important things. Adding shading is the easier part.

Worth noting is, keep the light source in the same place for all textures. It would look off, if some items were lighted from the right, while some from the left.

Though this retort one is not obvious, while you look at it… At first I thought it was a witch hat. Try with some different shape. I have no idea what the black thing on the bottom is.

I'm pretty happy with the overall form of my Thaumcraft place, in particular the whole altar setup on a lower level with clear glass above it (I'll try caring about decorating and giving everything better colors later), but this water brain thing from Automagy in the fucking middle of the top room feels kinda off (not only does it occupy a lot of space, but since I can't place crystal shards on quite clear glass, I have to block the view of the altar). Not entirely sure what to do about that.

It's funny how it has a block placer and a block breaker now, too. Even more is how you can upgrade how often it does its thing with speed upgrades, toggle a fuckton of options for the right-clicking (many more than the autonomous activator could) and even give enchantment books to the block breaker so it can fortune or silk touch blocks.

you need to get versions of the addons that are built against RV-3. Thaumic.E's curseforge is set up so you get RV-3 versions by default with recent versions. you may want to check the information available on the download page for the version you have and verify it is built for AE2 RV-3.

enderIO 2.3.0.424-beta works in IE:E which uses AE2rv-3 (beta 5 specifically).
ae2stuff has RV-3 builds available.

Somehow completely broke doors in Resonant Rise, but they're arguably as bad as FtB when it comes to configging and making things work. Not as jewey though.

Carpenter's blocks also has doors that work that way, and hasn't screwed up doors.

Has a couple of useful machines like a tree harvester, crop harvesters+planters etc. Be sure to disable liquid worldgen in the config because having a literal pool of shit destroy an otherwise attractive village/structure is annoying.

Making very good dimensions requires massive amounts of RF. Gives you something to shoot for in terms of end-game RF consumption. Also adds a lot of neat gadgets, like a terminal-style screen you can use to monitor RF levels, tank contents, etc throughout your base.

Borderline MAWPC RF generation. I advise against using this one your first time around because you won't find anything more powerful. RF rates can be easily decreased or increased in the config, though.

I like this one because I usually play tech/adventure packs where I run into a lot of equipment and tools I won't use, so I can break them down into ingots/diamonds. If you're running just tech this probably won't see a whole lot of use. It also gives (most) items a scrap value, which you can turn 8 scrap into a scrap box. Scrap boxes can be redeemed for ore dusts (higher quality scrap = higher quality metals and alloys).

What I´m planning to do is to have the town, as a steampunk (Immersive Engineering, Steam Power) medieval town, and I just want to put buildings that match my needs first like warehouses or farms, then put around there houses and also services like shops and bars as decoration, I have a place for Witchery, which is the massive bunch of trees.
