Still a lot of placeholder art but I've got a working demo of my game. It's a 1-4 player twin-stick game where you compete for points - the bigger the enemy, the more points you get. You can time it to blow them up at the right moment for more points, or concentrate on blasting your opponents to reduce theirs.

What I need to do next is introduce a broader enemy variety with projectile attacks - ideally the larger you make the enemy, the larger/stronger their attack patterns get as well.

So I used the path_end event as suggested, but I'm having the same problem. So I'm thinking that the instance is never truly reaching the end of the path, even though it's clearly stopped. Anyone have this problem before?

Also you set a speed when you start the path, but is this the same built in speed? I'm asking because I figured that I could check that it didn't reach the end of the path but the speed is 0 I could work around it, but the speed is 0 the entire time it's on the path, even though I set it to 1.5 with path_start.

Does anyone have any legitimate advice, please?

Have to fix some issues with rigging. Mostly related to the bottom of the tunic clipping with the legs when they are raised. Adding bones just for the skirt appear to be my only option, no matter what my weight painting is, the influence doesn't appear to be enough.

Need to also sketch out hair.

In the last thread, I clicked the embed to see what this 'epic dissing on googems rock paper scissors game' was, but the autoplay was like 12 seconds before it, and I couldn't last long enough to find it. I managed to hear it just now because I was delayed closing it by picking up a pen that I had dropped.

Trying to take an unbaised stance here, should I consider what these talking heads say to have merit, and why? If not, is this the kind of thing that realistically could negatively affect your game if you wanted to pursue a greenlight to steam release?

Working on doing saving.. made it once before using recursion to go through each field on each object and turn it into a line of text in the save file, but that was too much of a headache with all the inner Unity things. So now its being redone using JSON and an additional SerializedMyClass class for each class, so I can pick and choose which fields I want to save, and do things at loadtime like hooking up references or whatever instead of blindly loading in whatever comes out of the JSON. So I spent all afternoon fixing up the dialogue even more. Now it types out the letters and it has word wrap!

I know I've started a few days ago and haven't made much progress, but that's because (aside from me being retarded) I've had my first hiatus. I updated my mods for AA2 and have been in a nodev coma for days. I even scrapped all my classes and started a new one with new cards I made one by one because I was tired of all my old cards - this alone took a day.

I'm using Monogame now with Farseer physics engine.
Unity's physics aren't deterministic, and this type of game requires determinism unfortunately.
I thought I could make it work but after trying to make a fun webm a few weeks ago, I couldn't get the ball to go through the course the same way it was before. It was really game-breaking.

Added Accessories, which are equipable items that augment the party members in some way. Each party member has a number of accessory slots, and the number of slots each accessory takes up varies.

They're pretty straightfoward and a little boring, but without them there are only 2 ways that the player can customize their characters, so adding one more way seems beneficial.

I've never used construct before but if it helps this is what I did in GMS. Basically the speaker objects have their own little arrays of messages and when a sensor hits a speaker it creates a dialog object that goes through and displays the text. I'll give it a shot, but it's not just the error code, now it won't let me change the sound at all. It keeps reverting them back to the old sounds.

I even changed the filenames of the new sounds to match the old sounds in the project/audio/sounds folder and it still is using the old ones for some reason.

At this point I think my solution is going to be to make new "sounds" in GM and just change all the references to those while leaving the old ones in with the old names and just not referencing them. If that doesn't do it, I don't know what the fuck to do

I have a 'working copy' folder that then gets moved over to its Google Drive folder via BeyondCompare whenever I'm done for the day, and the folder in google drive is what gets checked into bitbucket. Having some trouble with invisible shit in Godot.

My code looks like:

Minimap is up and running. I'll have to make the image itself better at some point, but it's fine for now. With this, I can add a key to bring up the full map, and I can also add the Wizard's Eye spell which shows items and enemies on the minimap. But first, I have to fix it because currently when you get to the edge of the map, it starts drawing the other side of the map instead of just black emptiness or something.

Should the player position be the center of the arrow (arrow x/y position remains same when rotating), or the tip of the arrow (currently in video, arrow moves when rotating)?

The player's party is a single Character actor. My Character's each store an array of CharacterSheets, which are supposed to by like those DnD things with all your stats (I don't know what they're actually called since I don't play). The CharacterSheet holds inventory, stats, health, etc. When the actor takes damage, it chooses a random character sheet to apply the damage to.

Opinions on background Mk. IV?

Well technically it's the sixth iteration but the first two were so shit I never even showed them

I went with anon's suggestion of making them lines like in Star Trek and I think I like the effect, but I need to know if it's visually confusing to others.

Oh, and

Day 12 of trying to make video games.

Made a new background. Also made a new enemy type (well, an old sprite with slightly new behavior) and put some more puzzles together that I'm pretty happy with.

Dealt with some confusing and frustrating sound problems. Space Jam version of this game is just destined to have shit sound at this point, but I want to make a much more finished game after the fact and I'll have to fix it for that.

Time to sleep, and when I wake up I'll make a win screen and then crank in as many puzzles as I can before the deadline.

Other than that, game seems like...a game. Not a great one, but a game. I'm happy. Only found two bugs on the player side and they're superficial (one keeps sound looping longer than it should until the player hits space again, the other fails to change the turtle to the spinning sprite).

Yeah a few are in the foreground. I wanted to try to give the illusion that the stars streaming by were something the player was inside of, not just in front of. I was afraid of exactly what you said.

Any suggestions or more in-depth criticism as far as "it looks pretty bad"?
