Think of it, you'd have to kidnap and train various girls of all different appeal (loli, cake, gyaru, etc) then install them in various locations around the city, all while trying to drive traffic to them without getting busted by the cops. No. Because it simply takes away even the slightest illusion of agency. It's because I want to play a game and not just watch something I essentially just click to advance.

The rest really sounds like you are just trying to justify this way too desperately.
It's not bad game design because it forces you to lose at a point. It's bad game design because it constantly does so, yet the battles are still tedious and even if you do end up winning where you are not supposed to, the game just ignores it and plays out like you lost anyway.
You could actually make a game like Thug Hero Party and still have it end up like an actual game. It's just incredibly badly executed and that is very bad game design. It's not like the game could be turned into a piece of garbage anyway, as that is what it currently is.

The ratio of good to bad games out of a sample of around 500 games that I've played is probably 5% amazing, 15% decent/passably fun, 40% bad and 40% irredeemably shit that not even a person with literally nothing else to do in his life like me can enjoy, I can at least fap maybe once to the bad games but I end up deleting the terrible ones before the first hour of gameplay is done.
