3 focuses on this one animatronic called Springtrap. It's a withered golden colored Bonnie animatronic. At the end of the game it's revealed that Purple Guy (the killer) went back to Freddy's, presumably to get rid of any evidence. However, destroying the bots releases the ghosts of the children possessing them. The ghosts corner Purple in a small room and Purple puts on a springsuit (an animatronic suit that doubles as a regular suit performers can wear) to scare them off. However, he gets cocky and starts to laugh at them. The combined movement from his laugh mixed with the moisture in the room sets off the springsuit's spring mechanism (the thing that attaches the endoskeleton to the suit itself when the suit is being worn by an animatronic) and his body is painfully pierced by thousands of pieces of sharp metal. It's basically like an iron maiden. Purple then slumps to the floor and bleeds out. He's then found years later and brought to Fazbear's Fright as an attraction. For some reason his soul possesses the springsuit and he tries to kill you each night.
There are two endings to 3. In the "normal" ending Fazbear's Fright is burned down mysteriously and everything that survived was sold off. In the "good" ending you play a bunch of mini-games to appease the children.Beating all of the mini-games releases the children's spirits and they are put to rest

I'm glad I stuck out to you, the spook stories are always the most fun to write because back when I wrote them, I was writing based on straight up nightmares I had of the first game and being cornered in the office with Bonnie. It was just twice, but man it stuck with me for a bit.
