What's the point of playing? The matchmaking literally only gets worse as I go up because there's not enough even skilled players to match me with, I don't get any cool rewards like in league to show off my high rank (Unless I'm in the top 500, but then that's way too much work for a shitty animated icon that no one else ever sees) I don't even have anyone to duoq with because all my friends are in the 50's.

I don't have it in me to grind out 300 wins for golden weapons. They need to come out with new content every month because this game gets stale fast.

Hanzo needs a greatly reduced movement penalty while drawing and firing arrows.

Winston needs a much less shit shield.

Bastion needs to be like heavy where he revs up and down from a high DPS but much less mobile form (but not stationary). This would obviously require an extreme overhaul on his ranged damage.

Tobjorn's turret needs to be worth using.

I am consistently seeing more Winstons than Roadhogs in high-level (tourney and comp) play, despite all the Winston trashing that goes on in /owg/ and /v/. It's almost guaranteed that Winston will come out at least once from each team, while Roadhog is the least picked tank.

After the recent patches, Genji, Zenyatta, McCree and D.Va have seen a skyrocketing of use. Pharah and Soldier have fallen off the planet. Reaper, Mercy and Roadhog have seen a huge usage drop. Winston, however, is still around, still filling holes that these teams need filled.

Because his usefulness comes from coordinated play. You can't just be winston and leap on people to win the game.

He is not an offensive presence because his damage is garbage. He's not a defensive presence because his shield is garbage. He draws aggro and forces engagements. Unless you have a team to take advantage of that he is feed tier.

He's not even doing what the devs intend him to do. He's one of the worst characters to bully supports because of the many escape tools they have and Winston is only mobile in bursts.

Iktfw. I really hope that over time the 70+ population increases so i can have interesting matches. This game's design makes things worse because bad players trying to play dps or being unable to play healer/tanker properly somehow. If it was similar to TF2 you could at least have fun with the 60s. 70+ is true the hell where players either go to die or become pros.

I don't even play anymore, just checking news site for skins, Sombra or whatever else they're cooking to see if it can make me want me to play again. I wonder if the average 40~69 player feels bored already and keep on just because muh lore/characters/fan comics or if they're still having fun.

I can pubstomp as Zarya because shitters don't know how to not shoot the shields.

Rien is the only formal tank and is pretty S tier because of it. He can carry teams by shielding the payload.

Winston can't carry shit. Winston really suffers because of recent metagame shifts being hard on the defenseless tanks like pig and monkey.

I'm not suggesting that Winston, or anyone else for that matter, should be able to carry. I'm just saying he's sorta like Symmetra in that most of his kit sucks because one aspect of character is really good.

In addition to that there are many situations in which the character is straight useless because he's checked by more heroes than anything else in the game.

It's not like Winston is garbage. I just think he's really hurting from Dva both checking him and usurping him as the superior mobile tank.

I'm really new to FPS games and this genre of arena style combat in general. So, I have a lot of questions.

First off, I'm used to playing stuff like MonHun, RPG's etc. SO I know my reaction times are utter trash and that I need to improve them. I know i need to get good. That being said, there are some oddities in terms of balance that i noticed, that I don't know how to address. If possible please avoid simplistic answers. Explain to someone who's very new to this shit, why a character is "bad" or "good"

How come it's so hard to react to Mei? Can someone explain why this is balanced and fair?

What is with people constantly jumping? Why doesn't their aim get affected? I get very annoyed because I cant seem to land any shots, but they have 0 troubles hitting me while jumping. How can I counter this? It feels like constantly jumping is just a "Here have a 30-40% miss chance buff for as long as you use it with no reprocussions"

Why are there "easy characters" and hard to use ones in terms of skill floors? Doesn't this make the game unbalanced based on the fact newer players like me are as good as some of the average when using easy characters? Won't people who are good, using easy characters play way better than they should?

I prefer using Ana, Mercy, Tracer and Zarya. I'm opening to playing others but those seem to fight my playstyle best. That being said, why does Ana feel so underwhelming and holy shit why is it so hard to hit moving targets? Like...I don't mean in terms of mouse sensitivity if that makes sense, I mean like character's bodies move so sporadically, that i find myself just playing Ana's rifle like a really slow assault rifle, Scoping in is ridiculous to hit anything with. I have better unscoped accuracy than i do scoped, and it feels like my rounds, when unscoped move somehow faster than when I'm scoped in. Also what is quick scoping and do I have to learn it/learn to avoid it?

I did my placement matches or whatever and started at 40, but fell after many matches to 25. I figured I wouldn't start out very good and would need to work. But I feel like a lot of my matches were lost because our Reinhardt would sit at spawn and swing his hammer 1v6ing them and dying instantly, or That Dwarf dude...Torbjohn or whatever, would set up a turret pushing the vehicle, and never place a new one as we moved forwards. As a Mecry or Ana I feel like i can't do enough to save everyone. Also I get a fuck load of hatred for playing Ana. I seem to do well enough with her, I use her Ultimate at what I think is proper tiems and I tend to use it on DPS with their ults, or on Tanks. My damage and healing averages out to be the same on her (as in say at random, 5000 damage, 5000 healing) but I usually only get golds in healing, if any. Why do people hate on her so much? Is she that underwhelming to play?

You have to exercise tracking. You said you are new in FPS. So it'll come to you.

Some characters are easy to play by the very nature of what role/mechanic they are supposed to fill. Take Bastion. You are fucking minigun. How can you not easily shred people? But he also highlights why he is a balanced: he is shit at anything than low level play. The turret aspect is easily circumvented if you are semi-decent.

Bunny hopping is normal in fps. Standing stationary and moving predictably is asking to get shot. How to shoot while hopping? Become proficient.
Mei is a pubstomper. She is not a threat in any kind of organized play. She's actually really weak.
You're not as good as the others when you use "easy" characters. This is not a game of intensive and individual skill based play. Several of the 1 star characters have fairly high ceilings, and vice versa.
A character is mainly "bad" or "good" depending on the situation. Are you attacking or defending/what kind of map is it/what is your opposing team comp, etc.
Hardly anyone scopes with Ana. That's more to do with the character than the norm in fps games. Usually quickscoping is preferred. I'm not gonna tell you what that is though cause it's a Google away.

Do they not realise that if they defend it, the enemy team won't be able to move it.

But that's wrong. If you play on higher than beginner levels you WILL get used to the fast paced combat, you will make progress and it will happen faster than you think. Its in our DNA. Due to his movement making him really un-fun to go up against, we have decided to give Genji a stamina bar that depletes every time he uses his double jump, climbs a wall, or sword dashes he uses a bit of the bar, and can only get it back through dying or standing still. His ultimate replenishes half of the bar.
As a result of this, sword dash no longer has a cool down but consumes 60% of his stamina bar.

Recall now sends Tracer back between 1 and 6 seconds, determined randomly, with a random chance of immediately charging her ultimate upon finishing the recall.
Due to Blink being considered an un-fun mechanic, it now has a 0.25 second cast time.

After a concussion mine jump, Junkrat deals 250 damage to any enemy whom he lands directly on top of.
The bear trap has a random chance to go off every time an ally runs over it.
He now drops twice as many bombs on death.

Due to sniping being un-fun, Widowmaker's scoped in rifle shoots sensor darts that causes struck enemies to be visible no matter where they are.
Her grappling hook now has a 1 second cooldown.

New to fpses guy:
'Bunny hopping' is about exploiting a movement bug in an engine like the quake 2 one. This is bunnyhopping https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_1LvSQgTWk . You cannot do it in Overwatch. The engine doesn't work like that. Jumping around like a fucking idiot isn't bunnyhopping, it's being a fucking idiot.

Jumping around all the time gets you killed because your air control is shittier than your ground control and you are less able to dodge in the air. When someone is jumping you know where they're going so they're easier to track and it's easier to land rockets under their feet where they land, which pops them in the air which makes them easier to hit again.

Getting good exercise: Pick Zarya. Shoot her ball thingos at people's feet at close range. If you pop them up try and track their arc with her laser. If in doubt, stop and think instead of shooting. You'll die a bunch but you'll get better at it. In setup time pick spots on the ground and put plasma balls on them.

If you find it really hard to place plasma, turn your mouse sensitivity down. Later you can turn it back up a bit but if you're used to rts games and that kind of thing you've probably got it way too high.

Now I'm going to go watch old defrag movies and cry into a pint of ice cream.

They need to focus on improving defense next. Tanks are great, support feels pretty solid, assault is fine save for Pharah and maybe throw soldier a bone.

The FTH buff just means he can actually take out squishy flanker types like he's supposed to
