Except D/D actually had consistency between Fusion, Synchro, xyz and Pendulum when they were starting out and could make the boards you saw in the anime with no issues.
The problem was that it came out during a time where they were so many better decks like Nekroz, Shaddolls and Tellars that it spent most of its time as rogue until the April list where it finally became meta since the support from the SD + SHVI and TDIL shifted the deck into overdrive.

Stardust Dragon is weird because only 3 (Stardust Dragon, Malefic, and Assault Mode) are specifically named 'Stardust Dragon' as compared to the other lists using the criteria of specifically the "Number 39: Utopia"s and level 7 "Odd-Eyes" dragons. If that's what you meant by 3, then yes.

face it, the deck is shit. It's "power plays" are fucking shit compard to even the minor meta decks currently, and even if your obese neckbeard opponent goes into diabetic shock during your opening hand youll just brick yourself and lose anyways.

Even if you somehow manage to claw and scrape your way to game 2 they die to literally every graveyard and DARK hate sidecard ever, which is literally what Dark World ended up being. Darklords will ironically go the same way.
