Got trapped in a spawn cycle because of a goblin invasion.

i'm running a terrarria server for friends and i've had the fucking map get corrupted (file corruption not videogame corruption) twice in a row today, one when we started playing and again when we stopped.

I spend like 30 mins or an hour digging out a gigantic square room to eventually build into a mob grinder after the others left
and then I exit with my character and have the server save+exit the map
and when it goes back to the menu the world is fucking gone from the "pick a world to load" list

the only reason it isn't completely gone is because i had an automatic windows backup at like 2am today so i can get the file from there

seriously though how the fuck does the file get corrupted twice in a row
is this a known issue
am i fucking something up somehow

That's one of the reasons I can barely play Terraria. I get hung up on realism and trying to make sure everyone has their own beds and tables and chairs and bathrooms and shit and I just don't have the stamina to build 20+ full houses or even apartments/tenements/flats.

I like to use cheatsheet to just augment some homebuilding at the start while I play through content normally, so I can just have access to all blocks and tools to help build the practical and the fancy in my town area or in wild areas without using a map editor over and over. Been playing so long it's just a relief to do what I like the most, streamlined.

I use SimpleAutoChests because I'm a lazy fuck who isn't very social, so I can't get multiple people to farm things and I can't be everywhere at once.

Sushi's mods are nice. They allow you to get items from chests through crafting.

Enemy Prefixes (Prefixies for Enemies?) adds some nice variety to NPCs.

Anyone here have or had lag issues? I'm having a HUGE fps drop since I came back to Terraria last week. I have 600 hours into this game on this computer, last I playerd was at 1.3 release, and never had this before. It's not just the buildings - flying islands are always the same sunplate block hut on a tiny patch of dirt with some trees on a giant bowl of cloud, with some smaller clouds above it.
Sure, the old islands were just flying blobs of dirt, but they were at least different each time. I don't know why Redigit didn't just keep the old island shapes and just add clouds mashed into the sides or something.

Ehh I'm not sure. Having moving blocks (or blocks to change instances) to travel across the ocean to different islands or to shoot to the moon in a ship could be neat.
Hell the moon could have terrain gen as well, just instead of dungeons and corruption it could be like abandoned moonbases and crashed alien frigates with some space pirate aliens occupying it.

unless you want to make a dozen random hell-deep chasms there's nothing, you can't control where the beams will go
you can backup your world before beating the wall if you really want to avoid the corruption side hitting the jungle(hallow doesn't matter)
since jungle is the only irreversible biome you can dig a hole on each side of it so altar spawns don't spread in and purify what you want after you get the Steampunker

Basically, dig 2 big holes around the biome you want to protect. Has to be like 6 wide or something.

It's not that easy, but you can trench a safe shaft in the middle of the world, maybe a bit beyond the first big trees. Then trenching the main crimruptions and the oceans. and a safe area in the jungle for eventual Plantera assrape and chlorophyte mining. And then, fish up LOTS of crates, and smash one single altar so you can have pirates.
