The energy source isn't actually the core fragments. It's the teleporter to the outpost. You'll need 20 CF to get it working, though. Just follow the compass on the top-right of your screen.

Edit the player_modes or whatever file to remove item drop on death, but increase pixel loss to 100%. Not great, but better. Need for food is only worthwhile if you decide to never buy and only farm, and even then only until your farm gets to a fair size. Don't hesitate to disable it.

What is there to look forward to in this game, progression wise?
It seems there are only 4 techs per slot, and they are all buyable right at the start.
New armor and weapons are only numerical upgrades, but they don't really expand or change your playstyle.
Is there any real new mechanic or ability introduced as you get newer and newer tiers of ore?

It kinda feels that nothing really changes as you progress in the game, you do the same things in the same way, just with differently named ore and higher damage numbers.

Is being a nomad a ok strategy?

Normally you use the hoverbike remote ON THE HOVERBIKE to put it away. If you beamed away and left the hoverbike there, you may need to buy some auto repair parts from the same place you bought the bike to 'repair' (re: remake) it if it's gone. Or a new bike.

Someone found out a quick way to get pixels early on.
1: harvest wood logs (replant as you feel necessary)
2: turn logs into treated wood (1 log: 10 treated wood)
3: turn treated wood into ornate wood (1:30)
4: optional, as getting paper is a bit more time consuming, if you luck out and find someone selling it, buy it, otherwise its 1 log for 5 paper. take 1 ornate wood and 2 paper to make 50 ornate wall

Also would be advisable to have a seller or a lot of storage on hand while making stuff.

A full stack of 1000 logs is enough to make 300,000 Ornate wood for a *potential* 15,000,000 ornate wall, paper not withstanding, as you will need 600,000 paper.

Also, the portable terramart seller doesn't work with this.
