I'm enjoying Infitech so far. You can get around finite water by using raintanks from Forestry or Railcraft, or EIO's Reservoir. Once you get into Thaumcraft, it gives you a way of making steel that's faster than Bronze Blast Furnaces.

I always use voxelmap. Just get the liteloader jar, dump in in mods folder and dump the voxelmap .litemod in there too. The screen may flicker a little during the initial game loading but once you hit the main menu it's perfectly fine.

No such thing. A small reactor won't be efficient because you won't have room to put coolant on all four sides of every rod. And a cheap one won't have any coolant at all, so you'll only get half the maximum RF from the rods.

It's actually much cheaper than it seems, since Destabalized Redstone (Which is effectively just molten redstone, at 4 pieces per bucket) doesn't flow downward like Cryotheum. And since this is a 7x7x7 design, you'll need 20 buckets of Cryotheum and 12 buckets of Redstone.

If you want to be stingy and not use Cryotheum, you can use Diamond Blocks (80k RF/mB) or Gold Blocks (79k RF/mB) instead. The corners can be air, though making them Carbon is a cheap enough filler block to make sure the redstone doesn't flow everywhere.

Not sure if it still works, but you could put water in one hole, lava in another, and then have an empty block between them.

You may need a redstone signal to update the flow after the first break, but that should be simple enough to automate.

You have a good idea of determining first where the windows and other details would go, but it seems that you can't settle for whether to add log foundations or not. I guess the plunge down the sea on the left side answers that.

I'm sure you can still add foundations to the leftmost area, but you have to secure it to the cliff or add a stone pillar on the bottom for support.

The issue with Blightfall is they put shit to get end game material easy on the map. As soon as you get a boat and sprint to water you can get an Arcane Forge (underwater), and a full Thaum starter kit (innatree) with no repercussions.

If you know how to exploit Zombie type AI you can snag a smeltery with barely any effort as well. Only two guards on them and iirc theres three on the map in villages.

From there you can easily get two end game metals in some endstone in the south, that alloys to a metal only beaten by super endgame meme Tartarite that is at best 10% better.

As soon as you get a pair of that armor and put repair on it, and a sword of it with Moss, it's game ogre.

If I'm going to expand my mining operations, I'm going to need more power going into my central battery. One of the more exotic options available to me is a Matter Overdrive gravitational reactor, but I would need to use the Dislocation focus to bring a gravitational anomaly into the heart of my base. The thing will expand depending on how much "matter" I feed it, but if I lose control of it it'll become something much akin to a giant hungry node. On top of that, I already have 2 floors of my base dedicated to wheat farming to fuel biodiesel production. What am I going to do with all of that wheat if the anomaly outclasses the diesel generators?

Maybe I could switch to corn and build that tortilla factory I've been thinking about. Shame you can't put sombreros on golems...

Another point in favor of BC's quarry is that it starts from the top and slowly makes its way to the bottom of the world, which means that it's most likely going to take a while until you get to the good stuff. The Ender Quarry goes top-down while teleporting shit, RFTools's builder can start at literally any place you want (you can quarry someone else's base while being far away from them for fuck's sake), and the Digital Miner lets you hand-pick what you want to mine, holy fuck. At least the magically-inclined option are a little better since they need more effort to put together, with all you need to get TC's arcane bore to work well and Blood Magic's rituals as well.

From what I can gather from the code that exists, there's supposed to be a worldgen thing/crypt down at y8 or something. Fancy magic lock (3x3 sliding tile puzzle - not actually sure what's supposed to happen when you complete it), 3 sarcophagus, some decorative obsidian. The sarcophagus has a concealed internal inventory, that it generates some shitty loot in (5x gold string). I assume it drops when you break it or something.

You can use Witchery to create magical familiars (toads, owls, maybe rats?) by early/mid game. It adds some nice plants including one that creates snowballs when harvested. Also adds 2 new trees, each with a unique door. I won't even get into all the various buff items and the flying broom.

That'd be my little pet toy. I started working on it after watching Dataless's "Bob Mob Farm" where he uses giant slimes in minecarts to push the mobs off of their spawning platform. But the issues I had found was that there were no really good ways to leave spawnable space and be able to move the mobs to a killing chamber reliably. Sure, you could use OpenBlocks Fans around the entire outside to move them to an inner killing chamber below the idle platform, but that seemed like a lot of logistics.

The underside picture is effectively the nuts of the system; Tesseracts into MFR Grinders, with Thaumic Tinkerer Corporeal Attractors on redstone blocks. (You can put them on a lever, I won't tell anybody.) It moves all the mobs in a 15x15 area to itself, and the way it's set up (the first picture) means you can have 20 "modules" while staying in the central AFK point.

The reason why the center is full of glass (and devoid of machines; all machines should go below the spawning platform) is because this system takes advantage of a Vanilla mechanic; Pack Spawning. Every game tick, it will grab a random block per chunk, and see if it's a block with an air block directly above it. If it finds one, it will try to spawn mobs within a 41x1x41 radius of it, and up to 4 mobs per spawn. Since we're standing ~25 blocks from any spawnable block, this means that every block in the dark room is fair game for spawning, and a majority of the glass blocks are within 20 blocks of a spawnable platform, therefore increasing the rates of the spawns.

The only flaw in the design (and I'm trying to figure out a proper solution) is the speed of the monsters dying. The MFR Grinder is slow, to put it lightly. Even though it pushes out ~100,000 drops in an hour (rare loot included, even Thaumcraft loot packs) I feel that if the mobs die near-instantly from when they get to the center can seriously improve the rates of the spawner.

Do you think if I just built rings of dirt (multiple layers, 3 or 4 spaces of air between them vertically) lined with trap doors there would be enough space for mobs to spawn and eventually wander off onto conveyer belts or some such thing? From what I understand, mobs can't recognize closed trap doors as a space they can fall off of.

Sounds more like the BoP Magical Forest. It counts as a magical biome so you can grow mana beans in it, but it also spawns extra witches, day and night. Useful mid and late game, but pretty shitty early game.

That's how traditional mob traps work, but look at how few blocks you have to trigger the mob spawning mechanism. The reason why this farm can push the numbers it can is because of how the spawning algorithm works; it NEEDS blocks with air above it to start the spawning cycle, even if the blocks themselves can't be spawned on. I belive xiumavoid demonstrated this in his "Does string block mob spawns" mythbusting video, where he has a flatland world covered in string with 0 mobs spawning, but once he introduces a patch of Bedrock with no string on it (Mobs can't spawn on bedrock) suddenly the world had mobs spawning on top of the string.

Mobs can spawn on transparent TE's (String, Banners, etc) but they need to start with an air block above a block.

Basically: build a small "village" (6 doors) with a Testifikike nearby to keep it alive. Dump 2+ kikes below it, far enough so they aren't considered part of the village for purposes of "how many bazillions Jews", but they are for purposes of "hey, are we part of a village? Can we breed?". Supply them some rotten potatoes and you're golden.

Another problem with the current metals is their role is overburdened and inconsistent:
* Iron - tool-able, armour-able, strong enough to build doors with, magical (anvil), redstone signal generator (tripwire)...
* Gold - even more magical, enchantable, somehow measures time (clock), exerts mechanical power (booster rails)...

Considering most new ores have barely any use, swapping one of them with a metal would be nice.

Still, I agree the tier system could be improved even without new metals.

I think octrees or even 64rees would be a good idea even with 1m^3 blocks. Specially because the terrain is is mainly composed of 4 layers of dirt and then mainly stone.

But yeah: too small voxels = shit happens. I think (1/2 m)^3 or (1/3 m)^3 blocks would be safe, requiring to store 8 or 27 more blocks. However, there's a catch: the amount of data needed to store each block would be smaller, since you don't need to have 40 block states for each stair and stuff like that.

The left tower is a water tower to transport water to the building on the right. The right building is a cow and pig farm that I just got fully operational. I ran into loads of trouble along the way, with the last obstacle being me forgetting pigs are only 1 block high. It was really damn fun to build.

There are 2 fuckhuge wheat farms at the very top with 252 wheat in each of them that automatically harvest, but requires manual replanting.

It will automatically breed 16 pairs of cows and pigs every 7 or so minutes, transfer the babies to holding cells, and harvest them after they have matured. It produces cooked beef, dung, scoured leather or glue, and cooked pork or tallow.

I'm going to build another one to do sheep and chickens. Although breeding chickens are very different from the other farm animals.

Also if you're using Roguelike I highly suggest going into the configs and disabling natural generation. Sometimes you'll find a great spot for a project only to find out that a Roguelike dungeon has fucked the area to hell and back.

If you turn off natural generation, you can still spawn the dungeons with a console command.

The issue is that mobs spawn randomly outside of the red ring (24 Blocks, spherical) but will slowly despawn randomly and have their AI turned off outside of the green ring (32 blocks, spherical) and immediately despawn at 128 blocks. So if the killing mechanism is fast enough, and enough chunks are loaded (Default servers have a chunk inradius of 10, so a 21x21 chunk area can be loaded by one person) you could stack a second and possibly a third ring, maybe.

Again, the bottleneck is the killing mechanism. MFR Grinders are incredibly slow. I toyed with the idea of an RFTools Teleporter dialed to a killing chamber below, but that might get bottlenecked too.

Yo, I'm the Anon butchering your setup. Sorry about that. Instead of trying to wrap my head around it, I kinda just charged forward. I'll tell you right now I'm more of an aesthetics guy than a numbers guy.

My grid is just the chunks outlined. I'm playing single player so server sensibilities are a non-issue. I'm just going to pop a chunk loader in the center and make sure the entire complex is covered.

I'm optimistic about overcoming the bottleneck by using EnderIO attraction obelisks so get the pigmen all in one place. They have a range of 64 x/z and approx 17 y. I'll just drop them down far enough and have a Killin' Joe or even a dynamism tablet holding a sword finish the job.

3 layers won't be an issue.

Also by automation I meant mana producing, which is as simple as droppers, crates, an hourglass and toast.
The rest of the mod is not worth bothering with so I'm not going to bother setting up automatic run crafting ect. even though I easily could.

For now, I've found the recipe for the Blood Magic alchemy set. 1 Sand + 1 bucket of water = 4 clay (pieces, not blocks). I set up a system to auto fill and insert buckets of water, but am having trouble extracting the clay and empty buckets. I have to do that part manually

Plus bleed a whole lot.

nnnnewp. Gotta be Corporeal Attractors. Attraction Obelisks just make it so that the pigs are attentive to that spot and move towards it on their own ambition, but it will NOT move them to the point like the Corporeal Attractor will. The Corporeal attractor moves them to the central point, of which it's up to you to figure out a way to mass murder them (ExU spikes, MFR Grinders, DE Mob Killers, EiO Killer Joes if you pop out the center block).

Remember: The system works with you being AFK in the center. If you're using it for a hostile piggy farm, you are better off using a vanilla design to mob them to a killing chamber, of which ExU Spikes with XP Bonus and Looting will be of good use to you.

Food flowers, open crates above them, droppers above that and redstone and the top connected to an hourglass.
Drops toast on the flowers at a regular interval, and I have another mod automating the toast making. It's not such a hard concept that I'd need to give you pictures.
Botania is a shitty mod that has little to no buildup to anything that could be considered fun or interesting, it just throws a pile of words at you.
Thaumcraft (for the first time at least) is much better in almost every way because you feel like you're actually discovering the mod as you play through it, not just having a book full of stuff that might be kinda-useful-sort-of.

I have a meat to mana reactor using a Tier 1 Pig Soul Shard, and it's so effective (given sunlight) that I have to turn it off. It also doubles as my source of food since the reactor also uses lava to cook the fat bitches.

My main and constant issue with the corporeal attractor is that it overcomes gravity (and conveyer belts apparently). I'd have to set them all up on timers to give the pigmen time to fall out of range so I could get them to one place for killin. Obelisks however will draw them into holes without overcoming gravity so I can route them. It doesn't seem like the pigmen are aggro'd by the obelisk so I don't see the importance in only using attractors.

I guess I'm still not fulling understanding the mechanics at play here. As long as the chunk is loaded the mobs should be attracted to the obelisk from as far as 64 blocks away, right?

This old picture is enough for the likes of you. Gory's with toast supplied by the overrun from the wheat I make diesel out of. There's an hourglass near the center that I usually set to 10 seconds, just long enough to give the spreaders enough time to fully vent any mana.

When I want mana, I just pop a drawer full of wheat into the input and GO DO SOMETHING ELSE. It's not "grinding" if you have systems in place to do everything for you. Try to express your hateboner for Vazkii without misusing buzzwords.

Just because I can automate the grind, doesn't mean it's not an annoying slog through the early-game of the mod. If it wasn't for the saving grace that is Gorys, the amount of time you would have to sit around wanking off while waiting for half a pool to make a single fucking terrasteel would make anyone want to off themselves.
It is literally annoying, needless timegaiting that makes the mod an annoyance to use unless you fuck around with the aggravating microcrafting system to make a tony of Gorys.

But if I want terrasteel I need to come back and drop it, than wait around for the animation to play, then need to pick it up.

But continuing with that comparison, if you were able to make Terrasteel in a machine, it would take half of an entire energy cell to make. You're still able to make mana powder and other low tier ingredients after putting one bread in the flower, just like you can process a few ores and such with on coal in a generator.
