GvG is rather new. Like not even a year in Korea. They removed exp loss from PK before GVG was even something in this game. At first it was like 10m to declare a war. Then they changed it to 3m declare cost with a 300k per 2 hour fee.

This "dead game" nonsense isn't true. I always have 1-2 people on my mini-map. Every town I've been to has had a handful of people in it.

Compare that to Aion, Wildstar, and even GW2 - I never run into other people while playing those games. Everyone in GW is either on their way to a world boss or just hangs out in Lion's Arch all day.

Well, the point is that you can do it while afk. It just takes longer to do it that way. It's the same with fishing. You'll get a full inventory quicker if you active fish than if you afk.

That being said I don't really care about the subscription package. It adds nothing that really interests me or that I think is worth it. If idiots want to dump money into that to support the game they can go ahead - I just think it's retarded. Before you get all autistic and start arguing the merits of 20% less tax (it's not actually 30%) I'll just point out the obvious and say that everyone realize that already; you don't need to share the mental gymnastics you did to justify your purchase. Man, I wonder when developers are going to realize that making the active progression curve steeper isn't a good idea.

By that, I mean the amount of effort needed to get to and/or maintain endgame content participation, as opposed to passive progression, which is essentially prestige, or "doing it because it's enjoyable and I like pretty dresses."
Then again, it seems like all the emphasis is on the progression and not the endgame.
