Holy shit, I just noticed that Ciri smiles when Emhyr calls her his daughter. Only happened on my second playthrough and I'm not sure what triggered it.

Replaying this, the open world is absolutely beautiful and rife with detail...but makes me imagine how many more resources might have been put to the main story if they'd just cut the size down a bit. Did it have to be 50% larger than Skyrim or whatever the final goal was?

During the battle of Sodden, her chest did get severely burned, along with her beautiful hair, but they have healed her completely and her not wanting to wear low cut clothes has more to do with psychological trauma. His paternal instincts got the better of him and even though his original plans were horrible, he never had the heart to go through with them. Well, pandering or not I've always thought that the unanimous praise they've gotten is worrying. TW3 was good but it still had issues, yet if you read the fan and critic opinions you'd think it was a flawless literary masterpiece. That would still be an issue even without the pandering in BnW. In any case, after the downgrade lies, waifu patch and declining writing quality in BnW I doubt I'll be preordering any future CDPR products.

Yen actually accomplishes very little on her own. First she fails to locate Ciri, forcing Emhyr to contact Geralt, then can't get past Ermion until Geralt comes to help her. She literally accomplished nothing in Skellige, while Geralt found a bunch of info about Ciri in Velen and Novigrad.

She is only able to lift Uma's curse because Geralt found Dandelion and learned the exact words of the curse. That's the thing about gaming and storytelling, you must tell the story mostly through the player character. You can't really show other characters doing major plot things on their own, like in the books or movies. That's why Ciri's bond with Geralt takes the front, while Yen is pushed aside, that's why all the major plot moving decisions depend on Geralt in a way. All others are replaceable imo, the story would be worse if they were replaced, but still.

I liked the sequences where we played as Henselt/Stennis in TW2 for this reason.

He got Whoreson to turn against everyone else, Cleaver was carried by rage and said "fuck it" to the cooperation with Dijkstra and Bedlam, Dijkstra's treasure was stolen by Whoreson (which was also probably Radovid's idea), so the others would start distrusting him (in which he may succeed or not). For Radovid that was enough of a distraction.

We see in the ending priests of Eternal Fire giving a support to Radovid. I don't think he ever planned any coups or anything like that, all he did was getting in their favors by helping them getting rid of the "filth" like mages and (possibly) nonhumans, as well as promising them a protection in case of Nilfgaard attack by shaping himself to be the saviour via propaganda. This way he takes the city indirectly from the inside, exploiting fearmongering and religious extremism, thus not triggering the "safety measures" established by Big Four until there is nothing they can do about it.
