Not gonna lie, if Ian wanted to write out the Freedom Fighters as major characters this'd be a perfect way to do it. Even taking for granted that Sonic will save the day and nobody with a name will die, we could have the following:

- Nigel needs to recover, so Sally takes the throne in his absence. No asshole wheelchair Max, but the King is in no shape to rule.
- Sky Patrol is out of commission and needs to be repaired, if not completely rebuilt after this, meaning Rotor has to stay behind.
- As a member of the royal guard, Antoine's first duty is to the royal family, namely Sally, and Bunnie stays with her husband.
- And who knows what the fuck's going on with Nicole's programming. She could just stay with Sally, or she could need a thorough defrag, or she could be going full ReBoot Season 3.

So if Silver somehow was ever re-introduced into the mainline games, how would you do it?

I would give him a melee attack as well a "force push" type attack that blows enemies away from him. Just picking up and throwing things at enemies gets a bit boring and repetitive, so having other attacks and being able to grab enemies instantly would be able to alleviate that. I would also very much limit the scripted events he encounters, or at least make them less prevalent. Something like being able to bend bars to make a path is OK, but having him stand in place for 10 seconds doing a scripted event is unexceptable. Actually, I view him joining GUN as the ultimate culmination of his character development and the ultimate fulfillment of Maria's wish. He's putting aside his personal grudge for GUN in order to protect humanity like he promised. It's actually quite a brilliant piece of character development. In fact, Shadow has a really good character arc in 06. Shame the rest of the game is trash.

Also for him to keep harping on his past would be pointless, so what they did was ultimately for the better: having him move on, but not resetting his development
