Alright, Godzilla 2.0 out on Nexus. Fixes 99% of the bugs, adds new weapons, etc. Tried to make the fight more tactical and positioning based, attacks are more powerful but delayed and telegraphed, so it's a little more interesting than tower defense, more like a MMO raid boss.

Lemme know if there's anything I can improve on. Or features I should add

Because Fallout 3 railroads you into the main quest more than any other bethesda game besides Fallout 4, and if you left any part of the map explored or missed half a dozen quests, too bad, because the game is over.

There's plenty of people (i.e. MOST) who finish a Bethesda game's main quest within like 10--20 hours, because it's the 'main' quest, like the average game's story mode, and that's simply the first thing they do.

Doing that with vanilla Fallout 3 can fuck you out of like 2/3s of the game, because it just ends.

You have a lot of freedom in Fallout 3. If I've missed sidequests and the like, it certainly wasn't because I lacked time.

If people choose to do the main quest first, so be it, but to blame it on the devs is fairly silly. I always treat games I play like I won't be able to continue playing after the end.

Does the order of the textures entries in nifskope matter? I have it currently at diffuse, normal, specular, blank, blank, glowmap, because that corresponds to the order in the material editor (with the two blanks being for the greyscale and environment map textures, respectively). One tut said that having gaps in the texture list can cause problems, but I haven't had any crashes yet.

The Institute had once created groups of reproductive-capable Gen III Synths to help repopulate in the event of disease outbreak/ total underground societal collapse. Members of this group included A2-31 (Harkness), G5-19, X6-88 and M7-97 (Danse)
The Synth!Shaun you were given at the end of the MQ was patched with all the extra organic bits to make him a real boy. He grows up to travel with the SS, and eventually marries Nat

Eh, the Legion clearly has capable metalworkers. Steel is easily made and abundant, and could be reinforced with a number of materials. Probably a good bit of prewar combat polymer in there.

Then again, the game never distinguishes between PA and non-PA pieces in any technical sense, but I don't remember Lanius' suit giving STR bonuses like PA should. Also, Caesar's a Luddite who probably wouldn't want PA in his ranks, relying on the sheer toughness of his men to win victories.

Gameplay aside, Lanius' exceptional physical qualities are the source of his battlefield prowess. He's a hardened combat veteran. His absurd HP is supposed to reflect that.

Fallout 3 and NV had more PA types, but most of how they worked, such as power armor training, was just gameplay shit made up for balance reasons.

Fo1 and Fo2 have raiders wearing normal leather and combat armor. I remember concept art showing some Khan rubber tire armor, though.

There were few good raider armour in FO3. I can name only 2 for myself. With new armour system in FO4 we can afford a ton of different armour combinations. Given that Far Harbor has as much content as Point Lookout, OA, and MZ combined, and Nuka World is looking to be as large as Dawnguard or Dragonborn, and thus the two of two of Fallout 3's DLC, we would have gotten the same amount of DLC as Fallout 3 got from just those two realses.

Shit like automotron, and the workshops, are just fun bonuses to give players the ability to build shit people have been using even worse mods to build for years.

On another note, a few extra things won't be in: two bosses and some NPCs won't have their proper weapons. It's an issue of testing and I haven't enough time to fix them.
Though the boss that isn't being shown isn't too interesting in my opinion anyway, and the other one doesn't have its model and its cell is still under heavy construction, so it wouldn't be that exciting too.

I did the quest a couple different ways before deciding which one I liked and to go from there.
I like how you also have to commit, otherwise the quest gets very difficult, as Julian's folks will get extremely good defense thanks to the meds, and Leonard's troops will have extremely good damage because you gave them all that ammo. They also start wielding guns instead of melee weapons.

As for the quest itself, it sounds like you missed some story bits. But the way you took it was definitely interesting, and the fact that you can go in there and enact your own version of justice, ignorant to this whole gang war and driven by your own devices... It's really neat, and makes one wish for more control like this in more Fallout games.

Also, I just sold the dead Ranger's equipment. Fetched quite a pretty penny at the Gun Runners. Sold the ugly Recon suit I had bought at the 188 Trading Post too, and with a bit of bartering skill managed to buy me a full suit of Reinforced Mark 2 Combat Armor, while still keeping both my NCR Ranger outfit and a Desert Eagle (for special ocassions).

Both the real skill (getting cheaper goods and selling more expensive ones), and player skill (knowing what it's best to trade).

I know it was a joke post, but I would really love to see Barter expanded in Fallout. Low skill means you can't tell the value of items, higher skill allows you to guess a value, with the best skill knowing exactly what each item is worth.

My head canon too, though additionally, i think they are set up for high rate of fire because its mainly robotic hands pulling the triggers, much faster than even a human could fire them. The institute can supply essentially limitless ammo too and just warp in supplies at will, huge ammo consumption is a non issue.

I modded them to have essentially 0 cooldown between shots, and modded prewar lasers to have a slower, even intrusively slow rate of fire, and be much more precision instruments with ammo conservation and damage per shot in mind. fighting synths though? Any time they fight, its a tidal wave of blue death suppressing fire that makes them by FAR the most dangerous humanoid opponents.

The automatic barrel is essentially a useless feature on the institute guns given all that, so i think im going to try to make those be plasma projectile barrels, though im not sure if that will work sticking a splitter on the end, that also modifies projectile type, thats gonna need some testing.

I liked the weapons. The arc on the incinerator was a nice touch. The laser pistol was pretty cool too. The hammer was great, shame there was no strong-man machine or whack-a-molerat challenge to go with it.

Need some advice here. I'm currently in the process of making my first char, and the stats seem almost useless, so I'm having a hard time understanding what exactly should I pick, since going by descriptions alone they all sound like potential dump stats. Special determines what perks you can get, which are intended to replace skills and the old perk system. You can boost your special later with perk points though, so there is some wiggle room. The SPECIAL changes are fairly significant, but really too much for me to type up so use the fucking wiki.

I really just recommend you get to the point right before you exit the vault and look at the various perks before reassigning your special to try to hit stuff you want the most. Or again look at the wiki and go through the perks. I can't really suggest much more unless you give us an idea of what the fuck sort of sole survivor you want to play. It's not that big of a deal anyways and you're probably going to make more than one character so you might as well experiment a bit.

I wouldn't go that far. The system achieves pretty much the same shit numbers wise as the last two titles, aside from being able to straight up dump all your points into one skill to get it up high early on, and there is at least an attempt to make single shot rifles, pistols and automatic weapons feel different perk wise on top of the vastly improved shooting and expanded VATS systems.

Yes they fumbled the execution in places with some terrible design choices and placement of in/of the perks pretty fucking hard, but there is plenty more to bitch about than the changed character building. I don't even get how everything thinks that switching the system in an rpg somehow makes it less of an rpg.

The issue is Fallout 4's perk system is nowhere near as expansive as Fallout 3 or New Vegas. By lowering the total amount of perks, they should have merged many of them together.

The Charisma perk tree has 30% of it taken up by intimidation style perks.

I don't know. Being forced to play a pre-war attorney who's married to a guy named Nate and out to get her son back isn't really roleplaying either.
I don't mind "having" to play a character preset in other games, if it drives the story. Dead Space 1 and 2 were absolute god-tier, for example, and I loved playing as Isaac Clarke and was able to immerse myself just fine.
However, in open-world sandbox games, were you expect to have as much freedom as possible, it just rubs me the wrong way.

Your reality argument makes no fucking sense. Fallout is a dark comedy series and always has been. Yes, the base mechanics should be based on reality but the perks have always been super human level OP shit. The idea that you should just waste five slots in the perk selection because "durr you can't use a pistol just because you can use a rifle" is retarded. Instead of splitting them up and limiting what the player could do, you could have added a new interesting perk in one of their places. It could have defined a different build type like a character that's e.g. radiation based. But no instead if you want X gun to be viable you have to level that up alongside Y.

Have you played any other Fallout game ever? Damage skills/perks were split over guns, big guns, energy and melee/unarmed. Fallout 4 made a silly decision to separate them over firing/design type and not ammunition type. This means instead of being skilled in e.g. ballistic pistols, machine guns, shotguns, sniper rifles etc. with Guns. And again, having to play a character preset is just fine, if it drives the story of the game. Though this does not necessarily make it an RPG. Dead Space is no RPG. Uncharted is no RPG. Both are great games nevertheless, because they're focused on the main characters.

how do i fix textures and geometry loading really fucking slowly when approaching a new outdoor cell? If I run in a straight line outside (from sanctuary to the place you meet preston at for example), when i reach a cell, the game either freezes up and loads the textures or i have to wait and stand still on the cell's edge while the textures load.

I didn't have this problem with a pirated copy ~3 months after the release but I now have it after i bought the game and the dlcs

Last I checked what people wanted in an RPG was freedom and specialisation combined sensibly. Not autisticly overbearing regulations that don't allow you to make out the damage of your chosen weapon type until you're level 40.

In every other Fallout game I can have my chosen damage skill maxed by Level 5 and roleplay as a master of that weapon type. Not in Fallout 4 where a decorated veteran apparently has the firing skills of greenhorn.

If I want to use mostly shotguns, I'm crippled because there's no longer a specific boost to shotguns, just a variable increase to all weapons that means I could never be better with a shotgun than a rifle.

Bethesda has had literally the same quality since Oblivion.
