The pso2 team announced they took on more staff before the beginning of episode 4 and their ideas are what fueled much of what you saw in the recent updates. Much of the new people at sega aren't familiar with pso2 like the regulars. The two people directing EP4 have some experience with phantasy star though. (Nakamura EP2) (Hamasaki's (Zero / Po2 / EP3 (balance adjustment)

As for the team that went and created the anime, look at the histories of each of the people connected to the project. Most of the staff would be unfamiliar to the pso2 setting but they know school anime settings because thats the only type of projects they were participating in the most.

Games have stopped being games.

Many games have become more expensive to uphold and create because what has gone into it costs money.Their are usually small teams devoted to tackling each thing months in advance or they could end up with issues.


Many teams go broke way before the project is even started and some even run into trouble so they gotta micro transact everything to just break even.

The worst part is when the mechanics team drops the ball then the game can't even be a game anymore because it lacks the ability to be played like a game. Yet the pay button still works.

Luckily that isn't the case here but the issue here is wanting to alter an already working system with an incomplete system.

I would say this is correct however the amount of time I spent frequently playing stands by itself.

I spent a lot of time in sh and vh quests because of many alt-characters to finish client orders.I've run into many clones, tagami's and mesatans but p.portals outside of shaqs. Non existent to me to the point I don't even hear the omen chime it makes when you enter its same map.

Stances: Earth Stance, Heaven Stance; PAs during Earth Stance apply heavy hitstun and status. Normals gain bonus PP and can knock light mobs into others for damage. PAs during Heaven Stance gain bonus damage and hits per attack depending on height on PA. High chance of inflicting Jellen or Zalure.
Weapons: Kanabō
Large bat type weapon that excels in breaking parts (bonus damage) and causing massive damage by hurtling enemies into each other (behavior changed when unlaunchable). Most PAs take a stance and charge up before use. Can charge a leap by holding the jump button with this weapon equipped (most height from a neutral jump, covers distance if a direction is held on release). Can also leap after charging a PA and hold the charge, or release midair. PA effects differ according to active stance.
Sample PAs: Oni Punish: Baseball style swing, sends enemies in a Barta-like arc. Mobs deal extra damage to enemies nearby on landing depending on distance travelled, and can blow through enemies in Earth Stance (placeholder when invalid, can hit multiple parts). In Heaven Stance, player chases flying mob in the air after initial hit for 2 more 360 swings, can direct last hit downwards (when invalid, player moves towards direction facing/target at set intervals).
Daidarabotchi Drop: Charges a giant overhead swing that deals AOE damage and has a chance to proc bind in Earth Stance. Enemies are jolted at an angle and may collide with each other for extra damage. In Heaven Stance, AOE is reduced to half, damage increases based on height, valid enemies are launched upwards by this PA and deal damage on landing, will inflict Zalure.
Concept: Potentially stronger than sword in mobbing in terms of damage, but only proportional to mob density or by knocking mobs into a crowd. Lots of charges + leap system are much riskier for situational reward. Heaven Stance great for bossing, but weak against small weakpoints (Earth better with mobs swarming).

Photekko: Hand held spiked guards that specialize in counterattacks and grapples. Pressing jump while airborne allows you to jump to a nearby enemy and attach yourself to a lockable part - cannot regen PP and steadily lose PP during. Each PA can be 'charged' by holding; releasing during an attack increases damage and adds effects to the attack. 'Charged' PAs that do not counterattack deal no extra damage, but uncharged deals fair DPS in comparsion.

Attached version: Punches the target causing knockback where possible and launches you upwards. Heaven builds more height, Earth deals more damage.
Transient Wind: Takes a slouching, unguarded stance, then flashes forwards with a double straight. Counterattack: Adds an additional strike. Earth Stance: generates an Il Zan like effect behind you, colliding enemies damage each other, inflicts Burn - on Counter, generates an explosion soon after in that line, dealing great damage and additional enemy falling damage. Heaven Stance: Initiates a grab attack at the opponent that tears the Photekko outwards, generating a 270 degree AOE. On Counter: pulls enemies in before the attack and hits three times, inflicts Zalure. Attached: tears claws outwards for great damage but blows you backwards. Earth: Drops you straight to the ground. Heaven: maintains height but leaves you vulnerable for around a second.
Concept: A less situational counterpart to the Kanabo's large openings. Not quite better at mobbing in a good situation but much easier to do so with by mixing uncharged PAs and counterattack PAs. Useful on mobile bosses.

Obake Break: Inflicts 50% wound on self, step is disabled, all AOEs are 30% larger and damage dealt ramps up to 25% the more attacks you deal in this mode (ten hits to cap, enemy colliding counts). Togglable with a 30 second cooldown, but health does not recover.
Yurei Break: Inflicts 25% wound on self, but charges and run speed are 30% faster for 30 seconds.
