It's strange how you never hear about economic crisis in the ME universe. Humanity as a whole seems to have coasted right past geopolitical/socioeconomic/ethnic division and right into space utopia.

Probably because of the First Contact War. Once we became privy to other (hostile) life in the galaxy, it became less "blacks vs whites vs browns" to "humanity vs everything else." I hope humanity gets to that point IRL eventually.

Think about it: In every fictional setting, every other race is tied to one background. There's the militaristic race, the barbarian race, the mystical race, the industrious race, the sexy race, ect.

In the context of Mass Effect though, humanity doesn't really have their niche. The turians have the best military, salarians lead the galactic community in science, the asari have the most affluent race and political clout, the quarians are thriftier and are better engineers, and the krogans are the best fighters.

Where does humanity have the edge in any of that? Numbers? Maybe, but not to any significant degree. We're scrappy, but three of the five races mentioned above could easily kill a human in an unarmed fight. We love to lean on our hardware, but none of our tech outmatches the turians or the salarians (or even the quarians). And politically, it took the entire counsel being murdered to get us any sway at all, and even then the rest of the galaxy gives us no respek.

Humanity has what it's always had in fiction: Heart and resolve. And in scifi/fantasy, that edges out any other practical/sensible/rational advantages.

On her being almost as tall as Shepard, almost everyone in-game is the same height due to lazy modelers and engine limitations. But various merchandise does describe Tali as being 5'8/172 cm, which is pretty tall for a human woman, and probably well into "giantess" territory for quarians. Golo, an average quarian male, was only stated to be about 5'4 in one of the books.

The strength feats? I don't think so. Someone had to actually animate her doing all that stuff and in some cases she actually explicitly acknowledges it in the following dialogue, which means a lot of people had to put several days of work into it. So it obviously wasn't laziness or anything, and was their intent to have her be easily capable of, say, pulling a heavily armored man up from a precipice. We've already known strength-enhancing cybernetics and gene mods were common-place for elite soldiers since ME1, and that Tali was cybernetically augmented since ME2, so it makes sense.

"Logically" Shepard would have fallen to his death on the Geth Dreadnought if she couldn't pull him up. As this didn't happen, she must be freakishly strong. We repeatedly see her do things that athletic humans several times her size would struggle with.

The lazy writing explanation doesn't really make any sense. Because they didn't need to have her be able to pull up Shepard or punch out a geth. Neither were relevant to the main plot and easily could have been left out if they wanted to portray her as being within normal human levels of strength.

Yeah, and all your other companions are either biotics, from superhumanly strong species, or are (like Tali) high level military or paramilitary soldiers who are also likely to be enhanced in some way (much like those Armali snipers who were given strength-boosting implants to allow them to fire the old Widow). Except Kasumi I guess, but we already knew she was enhanced based on those jumps she performed to get to Hock's gunship.

Maybe. Problem is that Mass Effect is far too theatrical to account for anything like that. If we had a fun down to earth ME game where you were a space pirate or something with less super dynamic plot (Or whatever bioware calls it) then simply being able to enjoy the setting.

The Geth Dreadnought was stated to have artificial gravity, and judging by how everything falls on it its gravity is very similar to Earth's. Rannoch has x0.9 Earth's gravity.

It's best if you actually see it happen and how it all led to that. I can see Jack getting attached to other people. the helmet cam at the beginning is just a plot device which is then easily discarded again. they could have worked around it a bit though, let's say the squad's helmet cams went bust when he saved kaidan/ashley from the beacon because it let out some electro-magnetic interference, then later sovereign prevented recordings manually and in all meetings with the illusive man he could have blocked them with whatever the shit those few keys on his seat do. it could have been more believable theme as to why the council doesn't believe shepard.
