Crapcom made minor buffs to Rathalos that has made him waayyy harder than he used to be.

He spends double the amount of time in the air. His fireballs no longer require full body turns (he'll just snap them) and also he'll do them a bit faster. He also charges after every dash, instead of just standing there.

He's slower, his talons can just miss with you running or a regular Demon Dodge rather than panic diving. I bounce between them, I would only warn against Striker Lance before you get a good amount of green sharpness. I always like starting with Hammer because of low sharpness, but SnS with oils make it a lot stronger early on compared to previous games. You could go either way, personally I think the SnS arts make it much more fun to play.

For solo clears all you have to do is search mhx and the weapon name in Japanese, the top results are often top clears.

What's fun is highly aggressive monsters with virgin-tight hitboxes and proper tells/frames. Wish Capcom would learn this.

Instant-charges, teleporting attacks, massive hitboxes - boring. Shit hitboxes - boring. Slow shit harmless monster you pound on for awhile - boring. Monster charges an attack and holds it for an extra 2 seconds waiting for you to blow your dodge roll early then instantly hitting - boring.
