A lot of the localization choices don't make sense. Bushido to adept is fine and they explained their reasoning for it. Raizex and Dinovaldo could have been translated directly. Gamuto to Gammoth is fine because Gamuto sounds a little Japanese. Tamamitsune sounds a lot Japanese but that's fine because the monster is a lot Japanese and Mizutsune sounds a lot Japanese anyway so what the fuck. Nyanter to prowler is dumb because the game's already full of cat puns so it's not like westerners wouldn't know what the fuck Nyanter means. Frankly I think prowler is more confusing.

I;ve been suing gunlance through 4G and have so far stuck to bushido style and Blast Dash as my art.

The only real pros for gunners are that Bowguns can snipe high damage body parts at any time while BMs have to wait for certain animations and openings to reach vulnerable areas.
Not as applicable for Bow users though, they kinda feel like a mix of Bowguns and Blades, need to stay at mid range for critical distance while still being incredibly squishy.
Honestly playing Bow properly and well is possibly one of the hardest things to do, although Adept style makes it significantly easier.

Great Sword is just so effective that, once you get timing and placing down pat, you don't need other weapons. It's boring, but that makes it comfy.

I'd recommend Aerial GS only because it's such a different playstyle to normal GS that it might open yourself up to different stuff.

Then again, why bother? GS will always be relevant, so you can just stick with what you know. You're locking yourself out of a lot of content, but I've never played Gunner so I'm not one to talk.

It doesn't really benefit that much; at least not compared to other weapons. Absolute Evasion allows you to try riskier charges, and bail when you otherwise wouldn't be able to / if you judged poorly. But otherwise it's nothing to write home about.

But landing a Brimstone is my favorite fucking thing in the goddamn world, and a Brimstone 2 on a sleeping monster is an immediate quest clear.

The best place to get dash extract to mix with well done steaks for mega dash juice is Gypceros (low rank drops more)

If you're cool with just shitty normal dash juice you can farm honey and bitterbugs to combine into catalysts to mix with rare steaks.

Not sure if you can force the chef to make rare or well done steaks, but the meat is something you're forced to farm no matter what.

You don't have to quit all at once, though. Capcom has skills like Stam Recov. Up and Constitution to help you manage your stamina better.

Yes, only one set of armor.
But the armor from deviants that unlock in low rank start with low rank defense.
Deviant arzuros starts with 26 defense on his blademaster armor pieces at lvl 1 while glavenus starts with 70.
But once you upgrade them to lvl 10 arzuros has 116 defense and glavenus 124 per piece.

Just an example, but all of them are somewhat in that range at lvl 10

Once you get to a certain point in the guild hall your rank isn't locked to the stars you're at anymore. It turns into an experience and level sort of thing, akin to traditional vidya games where doing a quest yields XP and filling your experience bar gives you +1 HR.
It counts every quest you've done before that point too. So if you say, did a million hunts before you unlocked that you'd go straight from 7 to 999 or whatever.

In MH4U I went from 7 or whatever it was straight to 90.

Well, I haven't used Aerial hammer yet, but I do frequently use aerial GS. Lagi has parts that are very resilient to damage, and aerial style can be very difficult in hitting specific points. Chances are you're hitting places like the forelegs and back spikes too much which gimps your damage. Focus on hitting the head/neck/torso for good damage, and consider bringing pitfall traps to reliably KO lagi more.
