Did they make climbing skill rating much easier or something with the patch? I jumped from skill rating 45 to 70 in the last 2 days all solo queue only playing Hanzo.

I was stuck between 40-50 for the last few weeks because I'm a meme Hanzo main and refused to play the overpowered characters like Zarya, Roadhog or Reaper, so I was basically stuck as "Underaverage' which I'm completely OK with.

However, since the patch, in the last 2 days I've climbed from being "under average" to skill rating 70, the top 1%. I've not changed anything at all. Still doing it solo queue, still playing only Hanzo.

What the hell happened?

Blizzard has no idea what to do with McCree.

First he was supposed to be a duelist, but everyone cried that he would beat everyone (except Roadhog) in a 1v1 within his flashbang range.

So then he was supposed to be a flanker/anti-flanker, but that didn't go well, then he's close range dps, now blizzard thinks he's now some mid-long range sniper? Yeah, that's sure been his role this whole time, ignore that S76 is a better pick at mid range for the team, and that dedicated snipers would be better at long.

Blizzard just has zero clue where McCree is supposed to fit, and his stated 'role' has been changed several times.

So yesterday I've tried to readjust my mindset from oogabooga to gitting gud + carrying.
the outcome was
1w1l on solo queue, with the realization that you can't carry as heal (if you have 3 tanks and are the only heal)
4w1l with one friend (fuck leavers)
and 4w2l with a full stack
But the best part was 100% less overall frustration.
It's just wasted effort to scream at the hanzo picker, he won't switch anyway.

Junkrat isn't OP. Just shits out damage and really dangerous in the right hands. If anything, his ult could use a HP boost. It's a weak version of D.vas ult and can be destroyed quick and easy because of only 100 HP.

He oughta be a better mid ranger than 76, he has a semi-auto. 75 damage, point blank, 67 at mid range, 50 at far. FtH gets 50 per shot, no spread, but hitscans disappear after 10 yards or so like a shotgun. Flashbang lasts as long as a Junktrap, but 10sec cool down, Roll has no cool down but doesn't reload.

It probably doesn't matter what you say. The simple answer is stay near cover + improve your aim. Also, if the enemy Pharah had nothing better to do than focus you and only you, the rest of your team probably wasn't keeping things busy enough in general.

You don't have to ignore the rest of the enemy team either, for that matter. If you see someone you can shoot, blast them and build ult. With Visor, Pharah is practically impossible NOT to kill if you catch her in the air.

How should I use my shield correctly? And what's it's range? That is it shield is projected a bit in front of D'va(unlike Rein's which is right next to him), right? So how far an ally needs to be until I no longer can protect him?

Juggle shooting and shielding to bait shots and keep the enemy guessing. The only time you should channel Defense Matrix for the duration is if you're nullifying an ultimate like Whole Hog or Death Blossom.

The shield extends for a decent ways in front of you, in a cone. You'll get accustomed to the distance after playing D.va for a bit.

That can be an effective use of your ultimate. Self Destruct isn't just for eliminations, it's a potent Area Denial tool. It forces the enemy to change positions, which can create an opportunity for your team.

If you're going for kills with Self Destruct, try coordinating with your team. If there's an ally Zarya, Mei, Reinhardt, etc. that can immobilize the enemy team before you launch your ultimate, chances are you'll get quite a few kills.

So long as Defense Matrix is active, it nullifies projectiles within its field. The field starts directly in front of you and extends a few feet in front of you in a cone. Any projectiles fired into it (or inside of it) disappear. The area is pretty wide.

Most characters can't damage you from the front while it's on. The exceptions to this are channeled beam weaponry (Mei, Zarya, Sym, Winston) and melee attacks (Rein) as well as explosions like D.va's ult. It only works on projectiles.

Also, it starts a tiny bit in front of D.va, so if someone gets in collision range of you and fires point blank, that may get past the shield. Also, any damage from the sides or back won't be nullified, it only extends from the front.

If a Roadhog pulls you, you'll be stunned momentarily. He may be able to get a shot off before you can raise Matrix but I'm not sure. I feel like I've blocked a few scrap cannon blasts after a hook, but I don't know if that's just shitty Hogs being shit.

How can you fuck up putting up a huge fuck-off shield in front of your team and walking forward? There's practically no aiming involved, except for the occasional Firestrike which has perhaps the largest projectile hitbox in the whole damned game. Wait, no, I lied - the biggest is Rein himself when he charges.

Mastering Charge and Firestrike and knowing when to be aggressive and when to hold back and support your team are the marks of a good Reinhardt. But at the floor all you need to do is remember you have a giant shield and keep it up in front of allies. Zen at least has to be careful and aim at people.
