Mike Z's test is including the delay from the monitor and the controller to get an end result that the user experiences. Displaylag does the same thing, and if you compare XIV to those results, you're talking about like a half frame difference between XIV and as responsive as you could technically possibly make a video game.

Pretty much the best you can do is record it so that you can see both when an input is pressed and when it shows up on screen. It used to be a lot easier in the days of CRT's, but basically at this point you have to do what Mike Z and Displaylag do which is get a combined total input delay and then subtract outside factors from there. Know which model monitor you have and how much input delay it has and then subtract that. Input polling I wouldn't know how to accurately test for that but I'm sure there's a way to do so.

Honestly it's pretty obvious that SFV is balanced in that way. That's why there was no real zoning character until Guile came out, even Sim wasn't a real zoning character, grapplers took a hit, Guile is complained about often, anything that would make casuals struggle is just nerfed so that it's not that big of a deal. I mean yeah of course when a character who is coin toss oriented gets in you'll lose, that says nothing about the strength of command throws though. Ken players are doing the same shit with regular throws because it's just not possible to react to situations and hey guess what sometimes you make wrong guesses. It's sad to see playstyle diversity go down the drain because people whine.
