I'd say Viper is probably the perfect example of a guy who either has to win in 30 minutes or get his carries super far ahead so they can end at 40.
Like he is THE early game powerhouse late game mega creep type hero. Axe actually scales better than Viper if Axe's team has any amount of AoE really, 3 second bkb piercing disable and pure damage/hp removal ain't nothin to laugh at.

Oh definitely. Big miscalculation on their part. I think they were feeling overconfident because they'd won the last three team fights pretty hard, and were looking to end while out buybacks were down.

The more I play Dota the more I realize you don't win by making good plays, you win by not making bad plays. I mean you can make good plays until you're super far ahead too but the biggest decider for pretty much all of my games comes down to which team overextends first.

Medallion is better for mana regen for all heroes with int greater than 30. Memedrop is better regen for heroes below 30 int. Magical burst is overwhelming the threat early game as opposed to physical damage.

Medallion gives superior damage to any hero with above 60 base damage. Gives superior "survivability" to any hero that isnt a full agi morphling. Can be used on camps or roshan, boosts damage of allies, does not generate stick charges.

If RoA was built for stats, it would be stacked on many stat carries.

RoA gives excellent stats for agility heroes. Strength and Int heroes don't want it. The stats, mana regen and armor can be built easily and entirely in lane assuming you start with a ring of protection. It can also be disassembled.

It's a laning item you can get started on at minute -1. Medallion is something you may want around minute 10. Medallion is a support item don't build that shit on carries.

All the auras on Ring of Aquila come from (and do not change) Ring of Basilius. The only stats that agi heroes in particular get from it that str and int heroes do not is +9 damage.

Even so, the biggest threat early game is magic damage including for (usually) squishy agi heroes. Ring of Basi + Infused Memedrop is the cost effective option.

I mean, why? Ring of Aquila is sold before the end of the game despite possibly building into aura items you'd want supports to have (like vlads).
Medallion provides benefits that actually scale as the stats of the hero increase. 35% physical damage amp is good for helping kill enemy heroes or creeps at any point in the game.

Ring of Aquila is actually better as the support item. Since supports arent amassing stats for almost the entire game so its effectiveness is a flat line instead of a decreasing slope. There aren't many agi supports (veno or venge) which is why the item is pretty weak in general.

So you get a small pool of heroes who more or less start buying some slippers. Sniper, Drow, Viper, Venge and Veno. The only one id want a medallion on would be Venge and maybe Viper since he transitions into a supporting role for late game.
The others just want different items entirely. Sure they could benefit from the -armor on an enemy but medallion and crest are side grade items on them. The only reason they want a RoA to begin with is because they can put 500 gold into it at the start of the game. And it'll stay in their inventory until they get six slotted, making it an efficient use of gold.
Medallion is inefficient. It's much harder to build into and yields no significant bonuses in it's raw parts. RoA is nice because it combines two cheap items into one slot, and you can walk into lane at the start of the game with either one.

Supports picked right now generally have to be aggresive and do work which omni lacks in. His ability to zone or secure a lane is really poor because he is melee, doesn't trade hits well, and needs early farm/levels to be effective. When you want a defensive support there are much better/well rounded supports to pick who offer a bit more than he does. Repel is his strongest spell for the laning stages but repel isn't necessary for your safelane core because you can pick a support instead who zones and offers more utility

Pros don't really pick him because of those reasons, and he's countered by diffusal blade which is a popular pickup on tons of cores right now. Repel being unpurgable could probably make the hero a lot more valuable but he still suffers from being a melee support with no disable who needs farm/levels early on

After that you can build depending on what the game requires. Linkens/Manta/BKB/bfly/skadi/rapier/etc.

Radiance is a really underrated item on medusa and I think people should experiment with it more. Raw damage for splitshot/dps increase, aura gives you team fight advantage on a hero thats hard to kill, miss chance to keep you from taking a few hits to save mana. If your game is going smoothly you can get the other items + the radiance between 16-20min.

desu, the only reason pros don't pick omni is because they are very stubborn and refuse to draft around him. Hero can easily offlane with his free level 1 bkb and 5 armor or even just jungle with his armor, self heal, and attack speed reduction aura. We live in a world of iron talon, and as such there's really no such thing as a melee hero who's early game is ''too weak'' to pick. The hero has the highest winrate in the game and has had the highest winrate for patches upon patches even in the highest level of play for a reason, and it's because the hero is fundamentally broken.

Sure, in an optimal situation omni gets ''countered'' by diffusal blade. But what happens when the omni gets last picked and you don't have a carry that easily makes diffusal? chances are you fucking lose that game.

Even if you ''counter'' omni, it often fails because repel is only the tip of his bullshit iceberg. Purification is a 10 second cd spell that does more damage than a lv 1 laguna blade (in an aoe!), as well as healing for 360. I can't overstate how absurd this ability is on the cooldown it has. The damage alone makes most lv1 ults look like fucking garbage, and the healing is enough to nullify the damage done by almost any level 1 ult. His ridiculous ult and free permanent shiva's aura is really just gravy.

Abbadon absolutely crushes popular picks like BM/POTM/slardar with his spammable hard dispel shield and inability to get picked off like a normal support, and again this is reflected in his winrate...and would probably be reflected in pro games if they picked him ever. Unlike omni, there's no item progression that will ''counter'' abbadon, and there's no way short of mass silence effects to stop an abbadon from breaking cc with his ult and purging cc from the focused ally. His passive is, again, pretty much just gravy, although granting 15% movespeed to the team is relatively helpful along with 40% attack speed on towers for pushing.

His kit is so strong to begin with, and once he snags Agh's, you lose every fucking teamfight against him
It's a boat debuff activated instantly, even while disabled so it fucks Blink AOE initiation, and the damage doesn't even come back to you like boat buff
Pros are too terrified to pick melee supports
