I just did some testing with the pacified Abductor in mission 1-2.

I wanted to test whether the two augmentations Attack:Clinging and Attack:Connected applies when you cling onto an abductor in the Pod and shoot it from as close distance as possible.

0 Augmentations needed 70 bullets to kill.
Attack:Clinging needed 61 bullets (a 13% reduction in bullets needed)
Attack:Connected needed 70 bullets.

So it turns out I have been using the wrong Augmentations all this time.
I had been using Attack:Connected while clinging onto the abductor's pod to shoot it from as close distance as possible.

Best melee weapon in God Eater?

Scythes seem like they do low damage, especially that R+square special attack thing. Spears do nice damage and I love the backflip but they have some trouble hitting small targets like Chi-Yous.

This time I tested the Attack:Connect augmentation properly instead of clinging to the abductor.
This was using a different weapon, so you can't compare the bullet count with previous test.
On this particular weapon the Attack:Connection Augmentation apparently reduced the needed amount of bullets by 13%.

(you can't compare this percentage to the previous test either, because the previous weapon I tested had some shenanigans with Ice Element and reduced defense)

First images shows the distance from Abductor to the door.
Second image is shooting the Abductor from the other side of the door.

Surprisingly it turns out I do the same damage even if I'm semi far away. So I didn't get any extra bonus damage by shooting the Abductor from close distance.
So I guess that myth is busted. The tip which says your Assault Rifle will lose damage when too far away from the target must have meant a completely different distance, like 70-100 meters away.

As long as you're within the reach of the thorn it's the same damage I suspect.

I didn't have any problems outside of one boss both of its versions despite playing on hot difficulty.
You can completely nullify the steal mechanic with certain accessories or by having some doll items in your inventory. You can buy them at the inn for next to nothing.
Not that you really need those, since Mars or Jupiter should easily be able to rape Venus anyway

i do find that they went a bit over the top with visual effects during the races. if you have 6 ships ahead of you you can barely see the track. i guess i'll learn them as time goes on.

It did tive a boost, just not so much with the weapon I tested.

In your situation I would go into mission 1-2 and test the weapon type you use on the abductor yourself.
