The comic shouldn't have any continuity or original characters/settings desu. The set up should be similar to the games: self contained with only the core game cast, and maybe the others once in a while to act as cheerleaders

Oh, and also keep it really simple. Most complicated/serious it should get is maybe Colors or Lost World. Scratch the whole "No original settings" bit, otherwise you run out of things to do really quickly. Well, I wouldn't say it's "better", they're mostly equal, but the DS version was made by DIMPS and was practically the same as Sonic Rush.
It also has sidequests given to you by other characters, basically the same as the ones in Generations where you're trapped within a certain part of the level and have to complete an objective.
It even has a Super Sonic "secret" boss just like the Advance and Rush games, in the form of Nega Mother Wisp.
...Okay, maybe it is a little better. But you should play the Wii version too.

SEGA is treating the anniversary year as having started on June 23rd, as opposed to being the year 2016. Which when you think about it makes sense. Sonic turned 25 in June, so now after that we are celebrating the accomplishment of the franchise lasting that long.

Also SEGA did say they want to focus on actually finishing games now, and as opposed to other times they've made promises about quality this time they were more specific in citing Atlus as teaching them to release games when they're finished as opposed to the Western model of releasing games according to a pre-determined schedule no matter what.

I had a dream about Julie-Su, Scourge, and the others ending up in Wasteland from Epic Mickey. Due to renovations, forgotten or non-existent characters from all forms of media were allowed there. There were even Golden and Silver Age versions of famous DC superheroes to watch over the place.

Later, Julie-Su, Scourge, and Shard reluctantly team up with Thrash to send them back to their reality. Little do they know, however, that the reality they knew and loved (maybe not in Scourge's case, though) was replaced with a much different universe of its own.

The dream ended before they had a chance to react, though. Maybe I'll think of something tonight.

Not that kind of Blaze fag. Not anymore, at least. I just loved those games. It had enough paths to make exploration feel fresh while keeping the option to blitz through there if you're gud enough, mashing out six or seven tricks in the small window between the beginning and end of a rail to keep that boost meter bursting, and making sure you're at the right altitude to boost so you can skip some platforming all came together for good gameplay in my eyes. The story was light, more focused on characters than special gimmicks, and better for it. The bosses weren't that special, but if you don't think fights against other playable characters aren't the tightest shit then get the fuck out of my face, the Act 7 boss was phenomenal in every regard, from the music going "uwaaa~" lewdly to the button mashing finish. The ending was pretty good, too, very playable Super Sonic, which is much welcome in Sonic games. I guess the lack of a Super Sonic in the regular levels could be considered a minus, but if you're already good at the game or at least adept enough to form this conception of yourself, you'd have to wonder just how much faster you could get without full free vertical and horizontal movement, because regular Sonic and Blaze are fucking berserk once you know how to play them properly.

I'm really upset that we never got a third game, and I'm also upset that they tossed out the Generations format. It was a great format that needed refining, not to be in the trash in favor of whatever the fuck they think they're doing now.
