From Alicesoft I tried sengoku rance and Daiteikoku, I prefer squad/little armies level, and one of the most fun eroge I tried is Kamidori Alchemy Meister. I'm learning japanese but not at the level than I can understand even most basic things, at the moment less I know both katakana and hiragana, but less than 100 kanjis kun'yomi or On'yomi + the exception (fucking numerals I swear). I only started more or less seriously last month, I don't expect a good enough level to play games for another six months minimum.

All the 'rival' male characters - Bird/Arios/Genri (sort of)/Alex/Souun are a similar age to Rance.

Lark's age is unknown but he seems to be around the same mark.

And Kentarou is as well but he's also a protagonist of sorts

Leazas: Royal guard has always been all female.
Zeth: One's ability to use magic isn't affected by gender and only the strongest mages get to higher military ranks.

And they are Copandon/Maris/Cormick/Elizabeth/Cream/Uspira/Papaya/Chizuko/Nagi/Naoe Ai and of course Crook.

But some like Maris and Naoe Ai not only had relevant skills but had personal connections with the Lia/Kenshin who inherited their positions.

Most also have skills related to their professions. Papaya, Chizuko and Nagi got their positions solely due to magical ability which is based on magical ability and level cap which they were born with.


Copandon and Cormick have business related abilities but it still seems that they are too young for their achievements.

Most the military people are in decent positions given their age. Haurein is possibly a bit too young but Pegasus only just retired so it's a new spot plus her father is the head of the military.

Uspira and Cream are talented but still seem pretty young. In Uspira's case her country values magical ability above anything else so there is some justification.
In the corrupt shithole that is Helman where Stessel even has a vested interest in putting incompetent people in power, Cream's position seems unlikely. Though to be fair the fourth army is the dregs of the Helman military.

Elizabeth is younger than the other pentagon members but only Foot and Rodney are actually threats anyway and they're not really spoiled for choice. Elizabeth did have good leadership skills and conversation level one which could be useful for propaganda.

Actually come to think of it even though Rick was just promoted and there is a vacancy Menad is way too young for her position. Then again she did impress in the coup against Lia and Lia did want to push Menad towards Rick and away from Rance so we'll put that down to Lia.

The other replies you got are fine, but to actually answer your question - kind of. As long as you don't lose one of the special battles in Owari (which get progressively harder, although I've never pushed them to any extremes), I don't think you'll get a game over at any point.

I kept generic chars with 7s and 8s in search and a couple guys with 6.

I thought 3rd action fan would be the obvious choice but on my second playthrough I found myself running out of things to do a lot of the time. Like most of the time I would just attack once and do a purp event.
