Honestly, a full thunder team is truly annoying and strong. Nerua alone buffs too much thunder units:
- Teamwide thunder buffs: 20%HP and def
- Full thunder teams use her ace which on the top of her two buffs gives further: 35%reflex and HP
Nerua alone buffs HP twice, reflex and def. How is this supposedly balanced? Chitose, Patricia and Magnus doesn't even come close to her, specially Chitose. Not forgetting the fact she also gives CR/CAR to the backline.

Cynthia has huge critical damage and hits a lot, global slow as a passive and an active that can make it even worse for the enemy team, Bell always hit hard and have good buffs for the position and has an active that can combo with Cynthia's active. Luka is seem everywhere now:
- can equip IC
- she has good speed stats
- debuff position speed by 35% on pass which helps a lot to confront backlines, on the top of her being fast
- as if what I said before wasn't enough she also gives 20% crit to position
The worst is probably the fact she can equip IC, is fast and 35% slow on pass. Her speed stats and slow on pass probably needs a nerf.

Nerua is probably one of the biggest issues when related to thunder, there are people who run her ace with just the top 4 thunder units because of how good Nerua + her ace is. Nerua should be reworked or totem unit for other elements buffed to her level. And let's not forget those Leventor + Veronica combo which lowers so much defense of backlines .... at least they made Nikita position buffs usable for any element otherwise she would be another unit for a full thunder team.

With the ability to increase the damage inflicted to GKs, stack attack to the line (in addition to crit rate and receiving pass effect) and the capability to act as a reflex wall, Elaine is a godsend to any front line. Furthermore, her stone slots (Ardor, Thunder and Dark) allow her to make whatever role she takes even better (EBM/Silent Cold if she is to be more of a totem, Batallion if to be a more effective ball holder).

However, as good as Elaine is, she is not without her shortcomings. First of all, since Elaine is a Leader, her AI will attempt to attack if she has a health advantage, limiting her ability to survive being attacked when it comes to that time. The other way to handle her is to have a player with a lot of reflex/CAR attack her, such as Khirel and Yuri (or any player that can hold FTS, such as Hildegard), or someone with Super Play, like Malcolm, Anael or Bell, limiting Elaine's reflex bonus and cutting down at her health. There is also the fact that she is a Season 2 player, making her availability very limited (Sorry if I am opening fresh wounds there to those that did not get her last weekend).

But, if you can work around that and manage to get her, she will be a very good asset to any front line she is in.

Reminder that Elaine is balanced because Attackers exist and Silk is balanced because Vonchi exist.

Let us take some time to realise that Elaine gives a whopping:
1. 95% power (to add perspective, Choi gives 75% and already makes so much difference)
2. 50% crit (Iggy/Gerrard, the best standalone crit totems in the game, give 40% crit in comparison)
3. 45% receiving pass effect (Yuri, the strongest pass effect totem, gives 65%).

It's true that these passives need ramping which made her redundant in the previous "gotta go fast, one kick to end it all, One Kick Man!" meta. However the current resurgent of the multiple shots meta makes her the perfect totem since she gives so much added power to not only her striker but to her entire frontline. Her active was ridiculously strong even before the buff and needed no buffs - at three points it already amplifies damage by 22%. Her stones are deliciously versatile - add EBM to bump her total damage amp to 47% or add Silent Cold to boost her already decent pass effect (Elaine gives 600-700 to her striker once maxed stacks are reached; how much does your main assist-unit generic pass for?).

Personally I run her with SHoT (Silent Cold already on Luka) since it had 10% reflex (ahueahue) and with (a Teranox-holding) Black Daisy active, my Elaine has 155% crit damage. Do you know how much she steals for, especially in a Kirin frontline? I'll let you imagine it.

Finally, let's look at her base stats. She has the highest speed stat in the game - by a magnitude that would shame the distance of travelling from the Earth to the Sun. Sure, in game it translates to only a few points of action speed more than anyone else but it means that every point of action speed substat in her stones is incredibly effective on her. It also means that Luka's speed buff-debuff combo synergises well with Elaine. And guess who is (still) one of the most popular assist-types in the game? Nonetheless it also means that Elaine needs no speed bonus to repeatedly stack her passives; she just flies.

Her technique is also pretty high; she is capable of reaching 2k reflex on her own and can CA pretty consistently. She absolutely murders squishies in the backline with her reflex and high steal base stat. Her final passive is just a big you-know-which finger to a squishy, no-CAR linebreaker (looking at you, Virgil/Miho).

Synergises extremely well with units who allow Elaine to stack up fast and abuse her steal damage. Luka, of course, does this quite well but the winner is Kirin since he freezes his entire opposing line and lets Elaine maul them to death one by one. I've been up against SSS teams on the Korean server and poorly equipped backlines suffer like mad. A short video will come soon once I get the chance.

Tldr; OP passives, OP stats and current long matches are good for Elaine.

Since no one is really giving you a serious answer, here's my thoughts:

He is OP because all 2 of his passives greatly reduce the damage that your striker does while also having a 3rd passive that provides all the buffs that would increase survivability. My Leventor needs to take an extra 2-3 shots to beat a Duran lineup and if its against a Jin/Magnus/Silk line, then I might as well quit the game because it will take me at least 7 shots to kill. If any other player had just one of his totems, it would justify their usage. The fact that he has all 3 makes him OP.

How would I change him? I have two ideas. One is to make at least some of the totems trigger upon him being attacked. This still gives him his OPness in home games, but takes away some of the frustration for others who face him in a backline. The other thought I had is to make at least one of his passives conditional on him being alive. This would at least give people a way the option of dealing with him by having the striker face him.

Yep Vonchi/Choi and other dozen of players are much more problematic.

He have all in all conditions for totem, he is like better version of Nerua without element restriction. Ultimate totem without any lane breaking/stealing/CA or Active utility potential. I uses to call Duran broken in past, when he was making difference between 2HKO and 3HKO. Now when OHKO meta is ded and shoot count can go up to 10+ he does not give that much impact. Now utility and ball control is everything. I would pick Silk over Duran any day.

The general consensus seems to be that Askeladd is weak as a legend, mainly because she's a long passer with a weak defensive totem. Despite being a legend, most people compare her to the other thunder long passer Nikita and would opt for her instead of Askeladd because of her better defensive totem despite Askeladd's better utility. I suggest a few changes that might make people with Askeladd be more likely to use her:

1) Have her AI active pass to the striker: Askeladd is unique in that her active long pass provides action bar rather than offensive stats. However, her AI suffers from being the same as typical forward/long passers in that it passes to whichever teammate has the highest action bar rather than the striker. If you have five points in her active this is an insane waste and is also in most cases tactically unsound.

2) Give her another turn after she uses her active: Again, Askeladd's active is unique from other foward/long passers, and I think if she gets another turn after passing forward so that she has full action bar if the ball gets back to her she'll perform much better.

3) Buff her defensive totem and give it more useful stats: 15% max HP is weak, and 10% DR is pretty much insignificant with the diminishing returns on damage reduction. I suggest buffing her defensive totem to 20-25% HP and defense/crit resistance.

4) Add HP recovery to her stacking buff: As an assistor, she won't steal from enemy frontliners at an HP disadvantage. Having her heal a small amount of HP (10% or so, 5% in PvP) every time an enemy acts would go a long way to make sure she's always a potential threat in the backline rather than a dud.

These are my suggestions for buffing Askeladd. They highlight her uniqueness as a long passer while also making her a good backline choice, which is what's holding her back at the moment.

Do what thing? Long Pass cost a significant amount of spirits of 1.5bar, it is unlikely that whichever assist receiving the long ass will be also get another active pass off due to spirit constraint, outside of those running Prey's Sentence and Ardor Pass in prism or/and have a significant amount of spirit in reserve already. It means that there is a 33% chance of the striker receiving the pass assuming a 3 man front, which may or may not end up getting him killed, 66% chance of an assist or another frontline unit getting it, if they have enough ATB to move before the enemy, he/she will pass the ball to another unit, which may get that unit killed too and 50% of the time, that unit is the striker.

It is why long passes are a complete waste of spirit most of the time and you're better off running active healer in the longer passer's place, since it accomplishes significantly more. And the few long passers who do see use, aren't used for the long pass skill.

Also, IIRC the planned change was 30% ATB recovery for long passer and slightly higher for forward passers. That is not an insignificant amount, since passing also grant an additional 10% atb recovery. When combine with units that has innate ATB recovery, like WoM users or units that recover ATB on a shoot like William/Bora, there is a very high chance of the striker getting another shot off immediately after receiving the long pass. Even if the unit can't, the additional pass bonus along with striker's innately high offensive stat should make them win the dribble fight unless reflex steal procs.

Either way, long pass need a buff. As for how BB should do it, is up for debate. In its current form, it is trash.
