If he complains about animations being too long with weapons like Long Sword, Switch Axe and Gunlance in existence, then Dual Blades would be the opposite of what he wants. You can only cancel out of certain animations, after all. A lot otherwise lock you into the animation (especially the Demon Dance and spin)

Bone bludgeon has 4 available 'paths'

3 of them aren't unlocked yet so I can't upgrade into that path and i cant even see what the requirements are, to unlock those paths i have to 'level up' my weapon into a bone bludgeon +5, which costs materials in itself. When thats done i'll be able to see what the available paths are.

they could be terrible. i could go gather bones and ore and level up my weapon just to find out the 3 'locked' paths are terrible and i should go with the first one. but to do it i'll need to waste time and items. it's terrible. i dont know why its like this.

UGH so I decided to LS with adept style because I rolled that shit but landing that hit after the dodge is proving much too annoying.

Most monsters have moving attacks so when I dodge it puts a gap between us that is bigger than that small charge you get after the dodge.

So what are so fun new styles guys?

Guild offers nothing to what Switch Axe is like in Generations. You lose the roundhouse in Striker, that isn't something you need to use. Anytime you would be in Axe (which is like only after Trance Slashing) you'd already be back in Sword Mode because Energy Charge puts you back into it anyway. Energy Charge invalidates everything Axe mode has besides mobility and the overhead swing's reach, because it means you never need axe to recharge the gauge while Demon Riot means Sword Mode attacks do more damage. Striker gives access to all three, even if you only need two (Trance is, however, good when there's a large window to use its full combo) while also increasing the rate you recharge each art. Guild offers nothing over Striker

Huh, it's almost as if they just removed the pattern of name changes for barely any change to the weapon's design and instead made it levels before a new branch. Whereas before you'd get Bone Axe into Bone Axe+ into Bone Smasher. Now it's Bone Axe Lv. 1 into Lv. 2 and on while stats and sharpness still meet the same adjustment. And it's not like weapons didn't have previous crafts as a necessity to craft in previous games. There weren't always options to craft a weapon from scratch

Learn the tells, I killed it in starting armor and made my first armor set with its parts.
Just try not to lock yourself in an animation when it's on its tail, if it rears back while on the tail it's going to charge.
Try to attack in from the side if possible.

Hey guys, returning player here about to pick up Generations for my n3ds. I haven't played monhun since MHFU, so I had a question that wasn't totally addressed in the FAQ.

Solo bow: I've put a combined total of around 500 hours into MH1 and MHFU, so I'd hope that I'm not terrible. I plan on going into online hunting as well, but how viable would it be to start the game focusing entirely on bows?

Is it hard to output the damage needed to take down monsters solo in an appropriate time limit, and are they decent enough to hold their own without the perfect skills?

Adept bow is considered very solid.
Your starting bow has Rapid, which is the best all-around shot type. I've gone to the Nibelsnarf bow, which also is rapid and is able to be gotten in 3* village.
You'll want to run Adept Bow, learn what a Power Shot is and take Haste Rain or w/e it's called, the buff skill as your hunter art. If you want to do Guild Bow you should take the triple shot hunter art or evasion.
Congratulations, you're well on your way to success. Just craft the Teostra bow when you get the chance and you'll be golden.
