Hey guys, I need some help

Recently with the help of some of vg's help I managed to get rxtools on my 3ds, seeing as there was a problem with the FBI injector and I had to adjust some shit with the hex editor.

Well there are quite some ds games I liked, and figured I'd buy an R4 card seeing as I have a NDS and a 3DS with cfw.

Well I have tried a million different solutions, but I keep getting either an error/stuck loading screen when placing the firmware on the sd card.

The R4 card is: R4itt 4 3ds/dsi/ds.
Pic related (screw at the back, might be fake), I got my software from "r4iit.net" like the cartridge said, but I have exhausted googling different solutions aswell as Ysmenu but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

it sounds like you got one of the shittier ones, no idea if it's going to work, but you can try downgrading ds_whitelist/twl firm and see if that helps

downgrading twl_firm and ds whitelist is something you do on the 3ds to get the 3ds to recognize the flash cart, not something you do to the flash cart

basically, if you have an ancient or really shitty flash cart, you downgrade two system titles (twl_firm and ds whitelist) on the 3ds to older versions. most of the checks for flash carts came on newer versions of those two system titles, so if you use older versions, the cart should load. unless it's a really, really shitty cart.

Just a quick 3DS modding question: Are any of the latest 3DS updates going to brick my system if installed under EMUNAND?

I assume the answer is no -- at the time I modded, I was told that it was safe to do a system update within the EMUNAND from then on -- but I'm just wary in case Nintendo's found a way to cause trouble from inside.

I haven't done any homebrew stuff since hacked my wii back in 2010. Id love help hacking my 3ds, I'm want to hack my ds so I can play cia files. I have version 11.0.0 and would love help installing a homebrew in the easiest way possible. if you're just going to buy another card (which you shouldn't have to), get a decent one. the "original" r4 is outdated and was only designed to work on ds, you're going to have to go through the same shit to get it to work. ask around here, there are a few varieties that work out of the box.

what i recommend is read the pastebins in the op, there should be some info there. if that doesn't help, there's stuff like time warp or whatever that might help. if that doesn't work, look up a guide for how to downgrade twl_firm and ds whitelist. the files for that should be in one of the pastebins somewhere, probably in a mega.

I got an error while in the middle of downgrading my 10.7.0 N3DS to 9.2.0 that forced me to restart into a partially downgraded system, and I'm getting an error while trying to use OOT3DHax to get into the Homebrew Launcher (probably because the hacked save is for just 10.7.0 N3DS).

How can get OOT3DHax to work again? Should I try to inject another hacked save into the cartridge but specify that save for O3DS 9.2.0-20U? Or am I fucked?

You can use HANS without CFW. Most of the Pokemon hacks have instructions on how to build it and you can find HANS-ready files for a bunch of hacks on 3dsiso (usually in the .cia category for lack of anything better). It'll be a code file and a huge .romfs file you put on your SD card, then you launch the game through HANS.

i have a dstt flashcart and ive been using the apache thunder launcher for a good amount of time just fine with no issues. i just booted up again today and its not working now. just hangs at the white loading screen. anyone know why? the most recent thing i did to my 3ds was add that NTR thing for the first time. dont know if that has anything to do with it but ya.

You just type it exactly like that in your console (exchange <path_to_game with the actual path to it, though). To open the console you can either press the Windows key + R and type cmd in there or (although I'm not sure about this since I don't use Windows but have seen people say that) right click inside the directory and choose to open the console in the current directory.
Make sure that it's in the directory with 3dsconv.py. Otherwise you have to type in the full path to the script.

It's possible to update the emunand_original even if I'm on Prailect's guide Part 5, section IV? Somehow, my brother reached to that step and he didn't fully updated his emunand in Part 4. The emunand gets a black screen with the sd card inserted, but if I remove it while it's still on black screen it works "normal" and gets "an error has occurred" message....and if i plugged in again all the emuand games appears.

I've been trying to get Monster Hunter Generations on my O3DS but when I try to run the game I just get the generic "An Error has occurred" message. I tried to post in the MH threads but it seems like no one else has this problem. All of my other games seem to be working fine but any copy of MHG I try downloading doesn't seem to work, even after reinstalling several times. First of all I suggest to not refer to homebrew that only has userland access as "homebrew", it creates misunderstanding
Then you said "JKSM for CFW", which is fine. The problem is that SDF only has a .cia as well. It also isn't homebrew at all, as it's a leaked tool officially developed by Nintendo. Homebrew software in the .3dsx format to export extdata exists: newer versions of FBI and svdt. I think they should work with userland access alone, at least for extracting/importing extdata, but I might be wrong.

I suggest against using SDF and svdt becuase of the former has a confusing folder structure and the latter has a bad interface.

On FBI, just select "Titles", then the game and then Import/Export extdata.

It's not the problem you're facing unless you're on an outdated version of Luma. The downgrade minver check is bypassed in Luma 5.5.

There are other issues with the downgrade, formatting EmuNAND before downgrading and making sure that it's not using the same folder as SysNAND tends to fix those, but some systems still have crashes during the downgrade. It happens.

If you're getting anything other than a system error screen when it's installing a specific .cia, it's almost certainly user error and you should explain *exactly* what's going wrong.

Yeah the DSTT got outdated when the DSi bricked them. However now it has made a comeback since it's one of the few flashcarts that is not only cheap but compatible with Luma.
If you have a9lh + Luma you don't need anything, just put it and boot. If you don't have Luma you might need to patch TWL_FIRM and/or a launcher

I just downgraded my N3DS to 9.2 following the Plailect guide (did it once on an O3DS I'm upgrading from), and got a black error screen when it was done, telling me to power down. I honestly didn't pay much attention to it, but after rebooting I remembered I didn't see that error when I downgraded my O3DS, so I checked earlier up in the guide and it says you've soft bricked if you get a black error screen after downgrading (have to go into recovery mode and upgrade to 11.0, etc.), but my N3DS rebooted into 9.2 just fine, and was even able to boot into homebrew launcher through browserhax and reinstall menuhax before it dawned on me to probably look up what was up with that black error screen.

I don't imagine a soft-bricked 3DS should be able to do that, so I should be safe to keep going, right?

So I installed NTR and used some cheats on fire emblem awakening because I'm a lazy piece of shit. Now it just crashes and reboots my 3ds right before a battle. Am I shit outta luck or is it fixable?

What do if EmuNAND9 won't boot from the homebrew launcher? Touchscreen just flashes black and red and then it kicks me back to the homebrew launcher menu.

The guide says it might fail to boot a few times, so I've been trying for like 10 minutes and it's been a 100% fail rate. Even tried re-downloading the .zip and re-copying the 3ds folder over to my microSD with the same result.

Your brightness, icon layout, and folders are distinct between your nands provided they're unlinked. What I've done is I've altered those three in my sysnand to such a degree that there is no way I can possibly confuse it with my emunand. You could give that a shot.

Worst case scenario something somehow borked and you just have to make a new rednand. Not a big deal. But don't update without being damn sure you're on emu.

You can't. The CIA you have installed isn't encrypted with the titlekey. If you install the titlekey your 3DS will try to decrypt it with the wrong key.
