The one advantage I would say MV has over VX Ace is the ability to use resolutions higher than 800 x 600. But I'm not really a fan of the rest of it. Lack of a dedicated script editor within the program and the awkward way it has to duplicate all of the RTP into each project's folder is a pain, too. Not to mention the fact that to support multiple OSes it needs duplicates of music files in different formats, which bloats each individual project to horrible levels. Seems so backwards. I just checked the bgm folder alone is like 600mb, jesus.

It's worse than you think, since the Edgelord also covers all those races AND his own mixed races are hilariously overpowered beyond that.

I think, like Salamander in part 3, that some characters are just going to be so strong anyway that they're pretty much gamebreaking.

Luka's not the 2nd best in Paradox though. For long fights, he just doesn't match the Slime+Other-race options, or bring the reliability and utility and durability that the various Minor Chaos options have.

As I mentioned with Lona, Elf isn't an amazing race, but it's not terrible, and her 20% SP Regen trait is currently quite amazing since it lets her pour out a constant string of strong abilities, while leaving gear slots for things like Genji Helm and Ribbon to cover status weaknesses.

But young Promestein? Meh. Trait's okay but she's competing with a lot of Angels in upcoming parts.

I just don't want some of the others I like to get dumpster-tier Traits like poor Rachnee did.

If you want to kill basically all the non-boss fights in the Labyrinth fast though, you'd be hard pressed to ignore Sara and Queen Noah. Their fire sword Ruling nuke (with appropriate Slayer bonuses like Zombie and Insect) deals absurd damage which makes the Holy/Dark AOE nukes look like a joke, just because of how good Foe Effect+ is on top of their Trait multiplier.

But yeah, not taking them to a superboss fight anytime soon.

I agree with you on Luka for now, but I suspect that as the game progresses on Luka's just going to get stupidly powerful. He's already got an excellent trait and angel resists are almost as good as Minor Chaos.

His real benefit will be his unique specials, and I imagine having all 4 spirits will actually be ridiculously powerful, especially since they all double as nukes. Add in his unique sword and he'll have almost complete elemental coverage with the sword giving Fire, Ice, Lightning, and Holy. Slyph and Gnome give Wind and Earth respectively, Undine will give Water. He has natural access to Holy as well.

The only elements Luka doesn't have easy access to will be Dark, Sonic, Bio, and Pleasure, but that could easily change in the next part.

Also bear in mind that there is still a hidden intermediate race that requires Human and likely the first advanced race as well. On top of that he'll have access to the Angel advanced race.

That race isn't actually "hidden". Why it's in Intermediate, I don't know. Nero uses it. It's a combo of Human + Fallen Angel (the Advanced race off High Angel) and that Higher Yoma or whatever.

Luka's got 2/3 of that covered anyway.
