It also creates an illogical scenario that ignores the fact that even the best public speakers and lie masters can fail to convince someone of something, in favor of a world were everyone is JUST magically swayed by your seemingly god like powers.

Except knowledge in the game is vastly tied to believable progression: if you don't know how to fix a toaster, you probably don't know how to power up a nuclear silo that's broken.

Again, same as above. The higher your skill, the more convincing your arguments, knowledge, and lies are. This is not Fallout 3, where saying the exact same shit meant that an NPC totally believed you, or could totally see through your bullshit.

New Vegas was great in this regard because more often than not, failed responses that involved lying would convey some feeling of stutter and doubt by the player:

I use Immersive Minigames. That means that my skillchecks rely on a bit of luck, as well as being limited by skill thresholds. I don't like it when I fail, but realistically no one can pick a lock 100% in their first try, even if they have the skill.

It's literally the one case where skillchecks could have been better in the vanilla game, because one you have the skill needed to unlock terminals and locks, you won't ever fail unless you are some kind of retard that doesn't know how to unlock a door or how to win the password minigame.

It's been proven in Skyrim, where I never ever bothered investing in the Lockpicking (or Sneak, lel) tree. And Requiem fixed this by adding lockpicking thresholds.

This is actually something Bethesda did right in Oblivion, but managed to make it so opaque and difficult to use that few average players had any real insight into how it worked.

First you're presented with your skill screen, the amount of skill points you've gotten that level are shown, and are then distributed among your skills based on the percentage of XP that was gained using those particular skills.

Guys, I'm having a problem. I've installed The Space Marine mod, but all the armor and items for that matter are completely invisible. I've tried googling but can't find out how to fix it.

New Vegas' skill check system got rid of save scumming entirely, unless you were so desperate for dialogue options that you would go out of your way to avoid them, only to return when you were good enough at the specific skills.

I use Project Nevada that also allows you to blow up locks, but I get what you mean.

I don't remember where, but I recall a mod that could blow up the contents of the safe or other similar containers. That worked, because you risked getting a small amount of loot, or improved your skills to get all of it.

The more I learn about FO4, the more dumbed down it seems. Broken locks and terminal lockouts encouraged improving your skills. I see it in my playthrough now, because I can no longer 100% succeed against locks. Even an Easy lock with 88% chance to succeed (unlocked through skill checks) entails a 12% possibility that I fail, and another possibility that the lock breaks (or increases in difficulty) if my Luck check fails.

I live in Texas and I can't see why anyone would want a Fallout game set here.

Houston and Dallas/Ft. Worth may be large cities, but they neither have particularly interesting architecture, nor many historical landmarks.

Austin isn't that interesting either.

And San Antonio only really has the Alamo, which is super small, like bunker Hill small.

The only real theme a Texas game would have is the MUH COWBOYS! theme which was incorrectly given to it by old western movies that were normally filmed in places like Arizona and New Mexico, and New Vegas already covered that.

In Bethesda's defense, they ported the system over from the original Fallout games. Nothing was ever a guarantee, no matter how high your skill was. Bethesda took that system and added some guaranteed skill checks, but left in some percentage based ones. FO:NV was quite literally the first game in the Fallout series where skill checks were guaranteed if you had high enough skill and you can argue it's even more dumbed down.

Is that so? I'm being honest. I know for a fact that higher Speech skill would unlock new dialogue options, but I'm not sure if you could actually fail upon selecting that option (given that the game didn't point it out for you).

Moreover, I know things like Lockpicking in particular were based on chance, but what Bethesda did, instead, was replace it with a game that is impossible to fail unless you are handicapped.

-LA and San Fran are under firm control of the NCR
-Salt Lake city was said to have been entirely leveled by the nukes.
-Denver was stated to be totally overrun with dogs, with basically no humans living anywhere near it
-Tuscon and Phoenix barely get mentioned as just raider infested slums that the Legion took over

Really, the only major city left in the western U.S. that hasn't been either tamed, destroyed, or entirely abandoned, is Seattle.

A few things to note about this map

A. the small town Siri comes from in New Mexico is not marked because we have no idea were it is.

B. similarly, the small coal mining town in Montana the drifter comes from is not marked for the same reasons

C. Ulysses mentions Fort abandond and circle Junction in Lonesome Road, but since the NCR never made ito ut as far west as they did in Van Buren, we don't know where those places are, Ulysses dialogue suggests they are in northern Nevada/Utah, but no concrete info is given.

So how do I stop my game launcher from going into an infinite loop while using NMM, It even does it straight up from the Steam launcher as well.

So the combat scopes mod uses wo-g3.esp as a master, and the version of the g3 mod i have is just called g3.esp in my load order. What do i use to change the master?

Same thing with Tina's cookiepocalypse, it has the UMP mod merged into it and the combat scopes mod is still looking for the standalone file as it's master. How do i change it?

Scar is superfluous, every other female char in bethesda games have apparently suffered disfiguring facial damage. The face heals well and instinctively you are very prone to avoid damage there.
