Decent night vision means my gals can see dudes from further away. Trouble is, I can't see shit. Without their lights on I can't tell what the terrain is. Setting everything on fire helps, but that's just an artificial day mission.

Follow up. When I click a character pool to import from, the list shows blank. Doesn't matter if it's an old list or one I just made. It'll make sounds when I mouse over the list like there are supposed to be selectable options, but nothings happening. I've already disabled the older version of longer names and am using the newer version. I don't think it's due to that, however, because I have tried to make new lists with only a single character and those will still show up blank. So I believe it is another issue.

When 4chan added the ability to see how many unique IPs are in a thread, extensions added a way to track which post is a new IP. So it's not very precise, all you can tell is that a post is a new IP in a thread. Any posts they make after that are just as anonymous.

I use 4chan X which has it, but Appchan X does it as well. Other extensions likely do as well, but I haven't bothered with them.

That's how I eventually wound up doing it. I just brought along a string of engineers with HE grenades, a couple of Riflemen, and a medic and blew in a no man's land.

I think the corpses are more the attempt to justify its presence in a game. If they do go that route, I'd at least like the choice to kill or keep them. It'd make a decent choice--bodies immediately, or wait a month and get another soldier. They could tie it in with Playable Ayys or something similar.

Because when firaxis adds something they make it an actual official part of the game and setting, not just the estranged mind of some apebaby modder nobody cares about, but an actual influence on how future development of the title ends up.

and what fireaxis did was basically add completely out-of-place retarded bullshit that didn't fit the theme or aesthetic of the rest of the game.

meanwhile what they could've actually added is an intel gathering system where rescuing/capturing high value targets leads to intel which gives you leads to investigate in alien facilities or ufos as you begin unraveling what the ayylmaos are up to

but instead they just fucking forcefeed it all with hardly an actual gameplay change from the first game. It's a goddamn disgrace. You don't even feel like a rebellious guerilla force because you're never actually the one with the initiative setting the pace of the fighting and investigation - you have it all spoonfed to you while the aliens are the ones who do all the attacks, like as if it's still the previous xcom game.

I'm seriously fucking disappointed in what they've done with the DLC and the game in general. It's amateur as fuck and reflects poorly on what they accomplished with the first game.

xcom 2 is a small step forward in tactical gameplay design; mostly quality of life changes rather than actual gameplay improvements

People seem to go with lot's of smaller gamelplay mods paired with larger ones. Improved AI is a good start. A better Advent changes up the game. .Guerrilla War removes timers and instead drops increasingly larger enemy reinforcements. Combine these with custom classes, larger squad sizes, etc.

Personal mix:

A Better Advent + ABA: Better Pods Plus + ABA: All The Enemies

Core of the magnificence. You don't need the Enemies addition if you aren't adding any outside ones, but I use it because I also use the Muton Centurion.

The rest are:

Grimy's Loot Mod(with PCS expansion) + Long War Perk Pack + Long War Laser Pack + Grenade Fall off Damage + Larger Starting Squad + Additional Mission Types

It's damn chaotic. I assaulted my first base today, and I met up with a pod that contained 3 shieldbearers(one normal, and the other two with different gear), a fire berserker(not on a retaliation mission!), and an ADMEC who could smoke the entire pod off as his activation move. I love this combination of pods, even if the balance is whacky as shit.

Word of advice, do adjust the timers somehow(while leaving those in the additional missions untouched). I got Configurable Mission Timers and bumped up all the vanilla timers.

MEC builds are a lot more opinionated. I never liked tanking, and built mine to be more on the offensive with a few survival perks in between. Others hated that idea and built them in a completely different fashion. I also never even touched a few MEC classes(Guardian, Goliath), while others swore by them. I asked for builds and such for ideas as to what I could have written in the guide. The response was extremely minimal and save for one guy's detailed criticism about the current builds I had laid out, there was nothing. Abandoned it in return

Honestly I don't really mind the criticism, it's a good thing to talk about. Back when this general was still long war central and this picture would get posted, there would always be a bit of discussion sparked about the builds. The usual criticism was the lack of hybrid builds, and how those builds usually steered towards specializing in just a certain area. Most prominent example would be for the engineer, where it was being argued to take sapper with smoke and mirrors. Everyone has their own tried and proved builds, so it's always nice to hear other sides of the story

Battle focus is basically your pause button. You'll need to use it every time you fight especially when a muton decides to fuck you over by walking into your cover.

Space your guys out and always try to have someone flank.

Try your best to get ayys out of cover because cover negates a lot of damage.

Also use tactical scan a lot because you will run oiut of ammo very often.

Maybe you could implement classes that actually had different resources costs and training time. Classes like Knights would have very high training time and high equipment costs. Bowman would have lower resource costs, but long training time. Crossbowman would have lower training time, but higher equipment costs then bowman. Peasansts/Footman would be cheap all around, but evetually could be upgraded to higher tiers.

Crossbowman could be extremely good right from the start, but not have as much progression as a bowman or knight class. Something like that. Then you also wouldn't have to make each class perfectly balanced with each other from a tactical perspective, instead also being balanced from a strategic perspective as well.

PirateZ is set in the far future where the original x-com failed and the earth was taken over by the "Star Gods" (read ethereals). Just like the original game over kinda implies, stuff sucks and everyone mostly turns into mutants of some kind. I'd say that it needs tweaking, frankly.

Mag weapons should have a chance to completely ignore armor or shred a target.

Lasers should have increased accuracy and critical chance.

Plasma weapons should be expensive, but better in all categories.

I've been playing horror games since I was a tiny tot, and none of them could do more than set me on edge except for the Penumbra games and Alien fucking Isolation. I started it on the hardest difficulty trying to be billy badass, and six hours later I uninstalled it because I was getting spooked too fucking hard. Only time I've ever sat back and said "No, this game is 2spoopy4me."

Funny, I did the same exact thing. I should re-install and start on an easier difficulty. I feel like if you die to often, horror games an lose their edge a bit. I just couldn't get past eve the first real alien encounter on hardest difficulty.

Dude, not even the alien movies left me SPOOKED like that game, I only played it because at the time I had a roommate, and we'd take turns playing it while the other recovered a bit doing anything else.

Holy fucking shit, I don't know if I want MORE or LESS games like that, but it's one of the few 10/10 games I've played in the last years.

It was the second time I had gotten killed by the ayy that did it. I got grabbed by a joe, got away from it, but by the time I did the ayy was after me. I shut doors behind me running for the tram station, and it fucking -opened them behind me-, chased me through the turnstile, and murdered my ass. After that point I decided I was done with Isolation for a while.

The entire game is utterly nerve wracking, with the way the ayy rubberbands around you constantly and the fact that it can -hear your breathing- and -hear you using your motion tracker-, and the way you lose perception of everything else around you when you're focusing on something close.

To top it all off, like >>148374345 said, the way it moves, looks, and sounds is almost perfectly done.


I want more games like it, but I'm afraid if we get them I may be put off of horror games entirely.

So I discovered something with the LW perk mod. The new sword attack shinobi and assault get, fleche, is slightly bugged and can proc hair trigger free actions somehow, that or another mod I have has borked let it happen. It also doesn't actually improve its damage based on how far you moved when using the ability but on how far you've moved in total that turn. So I just hit an early game sectoid for about 22 non-crit with the base machete.

I don't see much use in the GTS. It mainly just sits there for me. What would make it so special to rush? The AWC rushed gives you more chance for awesome perks and lines up to reduce soldiers healing times which if you're not scumming seems to matter a lot.

Anybody running the additional missions (defend resistance haven and such) have facility missions be borked?

This is the second time I've spawned in the complex like 1 foot from the objective. This was the first time.

You have to research the chip before you get the AWC, on the other hand you can start building the GTS asap. GTS let's you train up those rookies to have a class so that if you take wounds you can actually fill in some soldiers that aren't absolutely dead weight. Getting wet work early is a good idea if you can, squad size upgrades go without saying.

Mhmm. I found uses for swords early game in vanilla for sectoid removal and then respeced the soldier after sectoids become less of a threat but I get the feeling I'll be using them a lot with the LW perks.
The fact that an assualt can become brutal in melee while still stacking perks to buff up his flanking shots is pretty ridiculous. I'm fairly sure a team of 6 of them would be untouchable before sectopods and gatekeepers show up.

So you guys DO have an interest for FantasyCOM? Now, would you rather it be a mod for X2, or a completely new game? I've always had ideas for something like that.

Archon king is legitimately infuriating. He seems scripted to turn up at the absolute worst times. Like being a blue move away from the avenger entry ramp on a defense mission.

I think the only time I've rage quit a game harder was back in oldcom when a guy with a blaster launcher was stood infront of my fucking skyranger and reaction fired into it when I failed to kill him with 3 direct hits from heavy plasma.

Would be great, but why bother with aliens if you're going fantasy? You may as well have them be demonic incursions and go the whole hog. This would also handily cover why the enemy is struggling against people with swords and bows. They also have swords and bows they just get here with literal magic from hell.

They could've done with some variants for sure. EMP blade that can stun organic enemies and does extra damage to robots at the cost of reduced damage normally. A monomolecular blade that ignores armor etc. There's probably mods for that already desu but they would've been a nice inclusion into the base game and probably would've looked ended up looking better.
