Is there any reason not to just dump a weakass pokemon to guard the gyms? It seems like no matter how strong a pokemon you set as a guard somebody can just grind the gym down with pokemon hundreds of CP lower. I know grabbing turf for your team is supposed to be fun but the system seems to just heavily encourage driving to a few gyms, dumping your trash mons, collecting some tokens, and repeat in 21 hours.

That's why you have to get people on your team to fill that gym to max. Make it so that people can't get through it, even with 6 pokemon.

You guys know how combat in this game works, right?

When you're battling enemy Pokemon in the gyms, there's a yellow flash a bit before the enemy Pokemon attacks. When the screen flashes yellow, swipe to the left or right. You'll dodge their attacks.

When it says they're using their special ability, just keep dodging. I haven't been hit by a special move yet.

Wait for the yellow. Dodge. Hit them with basic attack 1-3 times until you see yellow. Dodge. Repeat.

Hold down on your Pokemon to use your special move. EZ PZ.

I just soloed an entire gym with one Pokemon using this tip. 4/5 of them were higher level than me. Including a Jolteon (I had Vaporeon) 300+ levels than me. I'm having a grand time ass blasting those red faggots out of all the local gyms.

Use your strong pokes to attack it, but guard it with a mid-low level poke. Then go to shop after you've used your strong guy to beat a few gyms and collect the free tokens per gym.

Yes, all the time. It doesn't take that long if you can clear the gym consistently. Usually when I'm going around in a group, we grind spots for everyone. When I'm alone, I only do it if the gym is close to leveling up or if the roster is big enough so that you don't get just 100 prestige per win.

Tbh spoofing isn't really worth it, I've been doing for a day now and I just got soft banned from it. Basically they're starting to crack down on it now by tracking your location through google and if something doesn't add up they'll just hit you with a ban. It worked fine this morning but now if you even try you'll get a constant location error and unable to catch pokemon like this guy says and I can only assume if you continue it'll lead to a full ban. People need to understand that leveling is pointless because gyms are broken and unrewarding. You don't need high cp unless oyu want to battle gyms, and battling gyms does nothing but give stardust and a small amount of pokecoins. Stardust is only useful fo making your pokemon have higher cp. None of this affects your ability to catch pokemon.

You get the same pokemon no matter what level you are. If your goal is to catch 'em all, you don't need to powerlevel or lucky egg whatsoever.

In fact, you're better off not leveling or doing gyms, so everything is weaker and easier to catch.

Go to a public park with a few pokestops in it, make a literal circuit out of it, just ignore the radar and move as fast as you can. Pokemon spawn according to movement first and foremost. Moving into different pokestop regions boosts the spawn rate massively

You can still contribute in a similar way that you did in Ingress. Even if you don't take out all of the Pokemon in a gym and lose, the prestige will go down. Prestige is essentially the HP of the gym itself. Once it goes down enough, the gym will delevel, and the lowest CP pokemon will be kicked out. So if you just keep challenging the same gym over and over, even if your level and pokemon are garbage, you can still flip the gym.

rareness is realtive, and it depends on your goal.
If you get like, a lapras, yeah you're kinda fucked in terms of powering it up. But if you just want the pokedex entry, then you're good, cause lapras doesnt evolve.

Most of the mons that evolve are easy to catch, you just have to find the right spot for them to spawn often. starters are a little harder to catch, but they spawn pretty well in the right areas too.

If it's level 8 there should usually be someone there training on it to help boost its prestige. If not and you see someone capping your shit, just go train on it and try to outpace them. They shouldn't be able to clear it if you're training it properly and getting 1k+ prestige per training rep.

Trick is to cap a gym a little out of the way of highly populated areas. That way people don't flood it and it's easier to hold.

Everyone knows the game is shit, but since the vast majority of players are retard casuals who are terrible at completeing the pokedex, the game will live quite a while. Plus they'll add legendary events, and possibly gen 2 down the line to keep interest.

The real point is, it's something to bring people together. I'm mostly done with my dex and leveling is shit at 20, but now i can go bar crawling with fucking huge groups and help them take gyms and shit and be paraded as a pokegod just because i went full retard powerleveling when the game came out. It's ultimately pointless as a game, but it's an insanely unique social interaction to be a part of. The IRL aspect is what kept people playing past day 1.

All videogames are essentially pointless if you make shitty strawman arguments about how it doesn't do x y and z correctly and wastes your time. It's a shit app but its a great excuse to go outside, burn some calories, and meet cool people you never would have met otherwise.
