Hello, today I was playing Sven, the Rogue Knight. I was laning alone against Alleria, the Windrunner and Krobelus, the Death Prophet. First of all I disagreed with being solo against those heroes in the first place but whatever. Anyway, I was having some serious issues with Krobelus, the Death Prophet using her Carrion Swarm ability which sends a swarm of bats to damage her enemies dealing 100/175/250/300 damage with a radius of 110-300 to harass me, as well as Alleria, the Windrunner using her Power Shot ability which causes her to charge a bow shot which deals increasing amounts of damage (120/200/280/360 maximum) depending on how long she charges it and the amount of units it passes through. With all the harass, I could never enter the lane and ran out of consumables very quickly (I am referring to Ancient Tangos of Essifation, and Healing Salves). What can I do about this?

the 2% bonus damage from 32 int when you have lv 7 + treads lets you double pact the satyr camp. before the patch it would be

pact for 300 (600>300)>satyr mindstealer heals 3 hp (300>303) passively>pact again (303>3)>mindstealer lives on 3 hp and you have to spend 2.2 seconds autoattack them.

the new pact does 306 damage at level 7.

basically any creep with multiples of 300 hp are much easier to farm in the jungle. ogre frostmages don't even have to be attacked any more, you just auto the orge bruisers and double pact. its the same shit with alpha wolves.

the new pact + OoV + treads you only need to autoattack each vhoul assassin once when you pact.

You wasted an item slot on that instead of getting any of the numerous important items like wards, dust, raindrops, wind lace, urn, tp, stick, etc that can easily change the outcome of a fight

He's got an aoe Heart, free crit, tons of armor, one of the best attack animations in the game making him scale extremely well with attack speed so that he attacks way faster than most other heroes, and an ult that hides him as well as deals massive damage and you ghost sceptered haha and he can still use items so get diffused.

prophets job lategame is to cut lanes by teleporting behind tree lines, deploying his army and teleporting away, never going anywhere near the enemy team. Then those trees give vision for his ults, which kill all the enemy waves. Now all 3 lanes are constantly hammering on the enemy base and they can never push out and you're slowly grinding away at their towers bit by bit as they're locked in

manta, necronomicon and to a lesser extent hotd are the only items you can buy to get remote pushing beyond your trees. Once you're flooded with gold, you can give it auras or stats to be able to take on creep waves all on its own or deal more dps to towers

if prophet EVER teleports into the enemy base and attacks with his hero in a real game against opponents above 2k mmr, he dies 3 seconds later, then the enemy team pushes mid and ends the game.

So I've just come back to DotA after 9 months away. Can someone explain why there is so much new shit in the game? This is like fucking LoL now.

DotA has a huge number of changes now. Back when I started playing in the early 6.4s, we didn't need so many new items and hero revamps to make the game interesting. Might as well make the argument that new pieces should constantly be added to the chess board. The game thrives on its strategy and depth, not on the ADHD of its playerbase.

That said, I think you answered my question. So how was DotA dying? Was its playerbase shrinking while LoL's was expanding or something? Is there a pic to show this?

Nigger back when I started playing in DotA Allstars we had new heroes added all the time. Dota got huge because it was constantly being updated and new things added. It started dieing because it got stagnant and Valve would rather release a bunch of hats instead of improve the game.

besides, it was possible to code that in dota 1,there was even a patch where it was added before dota 2 had fully taken over

all icefrog did was make it every 0.05 seconds your hero moved (MS-522)/20 distance in the direction your hero is moving, and if he was really competent, he'd have made it use a counter for the remainder and done a simple collision check for trees and against predefined zones for cliffs
I could have programmed that shit in 1 hour and had it ready to go
