I dont think you understand my predicament. I have 5 legit games installed and a DSiWare game and i want to keep my 5 legit games when doing the whole downgrade to emunand to a9lh but according to the guide and logic, i cant keep them because of the dsi game because i need to format my system before even attempting a downgrade. Either way, you did a partial downgrade which is fine, it just means you need to go back to the second half of Part 1 and install menuhax through browserhax; menuhax will become your "entrypoint" from now on and is much easier than booting up OoT.

Start at Step 8 of Part 1.

>>

"browserhax" is just going into your 3DS browser and entering in that url on Step 8.

From there, you'll install "menuhax" which will let you load into the homebrew menu just by holding down on the dpad any time you boot up, if you follow the steps correctly, and will become your "entry point".

people don't know why it's even there people have said they have tried more than 70 times trying to get the downgrade to boot and never got it, if you somehow manage to get it it's a miracle but you'll be trying a lot, it's really unreliable but at least you can use it to install like oothax

Cool, I'll try to do basehaxx then since this smashhaxx isn't working anyway. >>

well you need access to homebrew in the first place so how are you going to get that? only cubic freakyhax and smilebasic are primary entrypoints all the other ones require either powersaves device or already having homebrew

wii u will force an update if you let it complete the download and it will automatically download (a) if the console is on or (b) if the console is "off" and you have standby support or whatever turned on

easiest way to fix this is to turn that shit off and to block nintendo's cdn servers, either through dns or through your router

>>
>>148181249
https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/wiki/FAQ-and-Troubleshooting

Well. I had to go to the FAQ on Luma3DS and download the NANDFIRMS and NTRFIRMS files and follow the instructions it talks about carefully.
I had to use 5.2 Luma3DS since 5.5 won't boot it.
So I had to hold select on the first boot of Luma3DS, enable "SysNAND is updated", let it go to the sysNAND menu, then open up settings and close it while holding down.
This takes me back to the homebrew browser, which I can then launch Luma back into CFW (that can now patch the sysNAND), then I go into H&S patched with FBI and install the three o3DS cias revelant to the 9.2 sysNAND (Native90, TWL, and AGB).
Then I had to turn off the console and reboot it, getting into the homebrew menu. Launch luma holding select and turn SysNAND is updated option off, this reboots me back into sysNAND.
I tried to boot back into luma3DS but it black screened. So I turned off the 3ds and botted it back up into homebrew menu and then Luma.
This time I got into luma, and then I launched health and safety again, and installed Native104, AGB, and TWL cia's.

Right so after that I turn my 3DS off. And I put Luma 5.5 on the card and redo the downgrade and THIS time, It succeeded. (My emuNAND firm was on 11.0 as well so I know Luma's working as intended now)

Now I can cross my fingers on getting the OTP part.

I have the default 4GB SD right now. Is it possible to do all the neccessary steps to hack the 3DS on that SD, then just copy and paste it's contents to a bigger SD in the future?
>>
Almost done (On 5.V.3 of the guide) and I've gotta say that these people are goddamn geniuses to figure this all out, and Plailect is a motherfucking angel for writing it all down just so that lazy assholes like me can play pirated chinese children's games.
>>
>>148185350
Yes you can copy all the stuff to another SD later. But I don't know if 4GB is enough. I only had 8GB and I'm pretty sure I was cutting it close sometimes.
>>
>>148185350

Yes. However, at one point you have to make one extra trip to transfer backups to your PC. Source: A9LH + Luma'd an O3DS XL with 4 GB SD card.
>>
>>148185350
Nope, you need at least 8 I think -- my last backup when I was done was 4.8 GB in size.
>>
>>148183589
I think you need to do this when you use Luma because Gateway really made a pigs ear of their downgrade solution to 4.5 (quick and messy job from what I've read) and left a load of garbage files overlapping the memory.
This method basically resets the areas Luma uses.
So yeah, you got to unpatch what you patched. Even if you weren't aware you did it, else the downgrade to 2.1.0 fails on the last part each time.

Btw. I got the OTP now, and I'm restoring an emuNAND. So whoop. Another A9LH 3ds for the pile.

>>
>>148186386

I did it two months back so I don't remember exactly, but at one point you back up both your Sysnand and your Emunand and with 4GB you can only fit the Sys or Emu backup, so you have to choose one, make it, then cut and paste it to your computer, then come back to the 3DS, make the other one, cut and paste.

Then you're back to following the guide word for word.

>>
>>148190372
There is no real benefit by switching CFWs.
And yeah. Updating your emuNAND to the latest will make you be able to access the eShop. Just update your Cakes to the latest nightly from http://ny1.hashbang.sh:8834/nightly/ (official nightly buildbot) and from the github repo firmurls, the latest NATIVE_FIRM for your 3DS. Since 11.0 did some nasty things, you will have to update.
And while you are on github's repo of Cakes go check the wiki. There's a link to several .cake patches including the 3ds_injector.cake (which for some reason links to a deprecated fork which in turn links to the correct one).
>>
>>148190618
>FileZilla Server

Yeah, about that...
>>
>>148190847
I thought this WOULD be the server since it's where the files are coming from? And the 3DS would be a client since it's accessing my PC to get the files?
>>
>>148190372
>>148190831
I forgot to mention. The 3ds_injector.cake from Wolfvak is for region emulation. So, you might have to use that if you are from Europe (unless Rhythm Heaven got a European release already).
And if you aren't, well it's still a good thing to have.

No, anon, the client can transfer files to and from the server, doesn't matter. FTPD makes your 3DS a server, you need the client on your PC. Download the FileZilla client version and at the top should be this shit, which you can fill out and connect with.

Good evening gentlemen and London.
I have created a quick and easy guide for shitposting with guaranteed replies.
Shitposters, these are entry level tips.
Anons, please continue as you were.
In order to make or spot a shitpost, you need to ask yourself if it meets any of these requirements.
Does the post
>have a question answered by the OP
>have transgender slurs pertaining to Aurora Wright
>ask for when something is released
>ask for a DS emulator without firm patching or a flash cart
>contain the number 5
>pertain to the PlayStation Vita© console
>contain a running joke otherwise known as a 'meme'
>contain the word 'leak' or any variant thereof
>ask for when something will be released
>ask about github projects without Google 1st page knowledge
>talks about 3dsiso
>talk about gbaTemp
>begin a flame war between Rei, Aurora, and mid-kid
>break a global rule
>break a board rule
>have a name besides Anonymous
>have a tripcode attached, secure or insecure
If the post in question has none of these, then I recommend some changes.
Shitposters should retype their post to include one or two of these. Guaranteed replies are useful in keeping these threads alive when the lack of actual content is clear.
Anonymous can answer concisely to both with respectful and well-written posts that bump the thread so it is not flooded by any general.
Examples of other generals that have and may flood the board include /utg/, /ksg/, /fnafg/, and obviously /nintyg/.
Remember to follow this guideline, and absolutely everything that can go wrong will go left.
Not right.

So I'm scared. I'm on step 12 of updating to 9.2. The guide tells me to press select to eject my SD Card.

Do I just take out the SD card while it is still on this screen? I'm scared.
>>

How? Seems to work perfectly on MHG, X/Y/ORAS and other graphics-heavy games. You can even install clock patches for loading times mang

It's good that you're reading the guide and making sure you're not fucking up. Don't worry about it.
>>
>>148197932

Okay, one more question: will there be any problems if I download a GBA game using this method?
>>
>>148198443
I cannot personally answer that question since I have not emulated GBA games on my 3DS. I'm sure someone else can answer that.
>>
>>148197932
It's not overclocking, what the N3DS does is downgrades its specs when you play a game made for the O3DS. All the settings do is remove that underclocking so games that rely heavily on GPU and CPU get noticeable framerate boosts.
>>
>>148198050
Oh, I never knew that. It barely runs at those normal clock speed unless its something like Xenoblade Chronicles or Hyrule Warriors where it NEEDS to run at such speeds. You might as well call it overclocking for simplicity's sake.
>>
>>148198543

To kind of ignore most of your questions here, all I had to do was download CIA versions of the ROMs and install them through FBI.

Sysnand without signature checks is done by holding a certain button at startup (Y I think, but better ask someone else) and checking it off on a list.

Is there a way to acess the eshop on emuNAND if NNID is unlinked since going through sysNAND's homebrew method is saying I need to update
>>
>>148209308
You should only have EmuNAND up to the point that you finish the A9LH (hack of the Arm9 processor) and then you're just on SysNAND, but a modified one. You need to EmuNAND to get the A9LH hacked to let you overwrite the SysNAND with the CFW.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I only did it the other day but I think that was the gist of it.

Okay, well go back to that link I posted a few replies back with all the GBA games in it. Download some that you like, put them on the SD, then put that back in the 3DS.

Then find the Health and Safety thing that come on the 3DS as standard. If you highlight it, the icon on the top screen should be a cube with FBI written on it. If so, open it and click on "SD", then find the game you put on the SD, click on it and choose "Install and Delete". Then back to the main home page of the 3DS (just press Home).

>>148210338
If you have Luma CFW (which you will if your friend used the guide in the OP) then you don't need that. You just install the GBA ROM CIAs through FBI. I was in your position a few hours ago. I ended up in that thread on GBAtemp.net but I checked around a bit more and it turns out you don't need that for Luma.

Ask you friend if he put Luma on. If you can't for some reason, just look for any icons that mention it on the 3DS.
>>
>>148210338
luma auto includes it
>>
>>148210495
I think I do have Luma.
When I boot into Emunand by holding L, it says Luma3ds and there is a Luma folder in the SD root.
I also remember patching it with starupdater because I had an online issue.

Again, many thanks and forgive my noobish ineptitude.

My homebrew menu wont boot up anymore.

I just installed EmuNAND9 and recopied over my SD card's files. Now holding down on boot doesn't open homebrew and I can't get it to work with the browser hack either. When I do that it gets stuck on a red screen.

Any ideas?
>>
>>148211558
Well I'm no expert and I'm not sure what your friend did or didn't do so it's hard to say.

All I can suggest is downloading a GBA game (.cia, of course) and then trying to install it with FBI. It'll either work or it won't.

The system check thing is something you choose from a startup option. You hold a certain button and then you get this list of options. One of them turns off the signature check. It may already be like that. Unfortunately I can't remember the button.

That MHG .cia in the thread. Do I just extract it to my SD card and use FBI to install from .cia?

So I think I can finally upgrade from my old 3ds xl to a new one. Thinking of doing a simple trade-in with the old one formatted.

Is it safe to buy a new one and get a firmware below 10.6 (EU, buying in UK)? Is there any way to know the firmware of the new product before buying it?

The last thing I want is just giving away my hacked 3ds and getting stuck in 11.0 or searching for freakyforms...

Just buy american carts and play them on Luma, it's a win win

>>
>>148236507
1. 16 GB is perfect, you'll fit a few games in there and once you're finished switching to a bigger size is a simple copy/paste
2. I'd say ~5 hours for a beginner from start to finish, and a majority of it is simple waiting so find some music to listen to or something to watch during the process.
If you are a New 3DS you don't want to leave your 3ds on 2.1 (Which is end of part 4) otherwise you risk a brick if you leave it in sleep mode, the guide tells you this.

10.3 is perfect, you can follow the guide exactly with that version.
>>
>>148236618

Yeah, I know, thats why I start seriously considering taking at least parts 1-3, for region free.

IF I find a shop that would import.
>>
>>148236507
16gb is definitely enough to do it all, although you may want to get a bigger one if you're planning on storing games on there.

The whole process took me around 5 and a half hours so I'd say reserve at least an hour and a half for each part of the guide.

Also, you can buy other region carts and play them using Luma or you can buy the carts to support the devs and just download CIAs so that you don't have to carry around a bunch of carts.
>>
>>148236525
If you're using a9lh, you need to launch it from a9lh instead. If you followed the guide then it's set to X or something (update your \luma\payloads\x_Decrypt9.bin with a new one if it's outdated).
>>
>>148236760
If you're planning on at least taking parts 1-3 then you might as well finish the guide as it will take a lot less maintenance down the line.
>>
>>148236726

>Also, you can buy other region carts and play them using Luma or you can buy the carts to support the devs and just download CIAs so that you don't have to carry around a bunch of carts.

I heard that I can make CIA files out of existing carts, is that true?

>>148236882

But I heard that 4-5 are extra risky.
>>
>>148237076
You can make CIA files out of existing carts using Decrypt9 but it takes a long time and isn't worth it if you're able to download them.

Parts 4-5 aren't really risky as long as you read every point in the guide. Plus, you make backups along the way that you can use to restore if anything goes wrong so don't worry.

>>148238010

>>
>>148236861
Oh right shit, I forgot about that step. Thanks for the heads-up.
>>
>>148238118
When the guide tells you to remove the SD card, it'll likely be whilst you're inside of an application that can eject the SD card safely. This means that you can remove it and when you put it back in, you tell the application that you've inserted the card again.
>>
>>148238118

Certain homebrew apps will say "press select to eject SD card" and "press B to mount SD card"

That means they'll release the SD card for you to safely remove it and insert into your PC, and gain control of the SD card again when you reinsert it

Just follow the guide.

If you are trying to update your RedNAND, it must say Emu before your system version.

If it says Sys or ver. you fucked up somewhere and shouldn't update.

>>148242779

They don't auto update 3DS consoles. You've got nothing to fear.
>>
>>148242930
alright cool, just making sure
>>
So, speculation on how long after release until they break the Nintendo NX wide open?
>>
>>148243558
Depends. I'd say expect 3-5 years for usable exploits, based on what I've seen of the Wii, 3DS, and Wii U.

>3-5 years
So PS Vita exploits s-soon, r-right?
>>
>>148243838
well they can copy games now, right?
>>
>>148244103

If you count the Blackfin, I guess.

what are the good 3DS emulators, and which ones should be avoided/replaced with DS versions if possible?
>>
>>148244548

I find GameYob sounds a bit clearer on the DS. That's why I use the DSi version. I need to use Sudokuhax for something.

what gba emulator works best on 3ds
>>
>>148244843

don't emulate, use VC injections
>>
Right now, there's no way to play ds games on the 3ds without actually buying the physical ds game or buying a flashcart right?
>>
>>148244680
sudokuhax? and can you install DS stuff the way you can 3DS .cias or do you need a launcher of some kind?

>>
>>148244934
where can i find a tutoral for that
>>
>>148245073
There's an SD card-based optical disk emulator if you want to pay 100 bucks and wait in line for one.
>>
>>148244103
It's basically the old friend account sharing except much longer and uncomfortable to set up
>>148244342
Designed to become utterly useless very quickly
>>
>>148245064

I injected sudokuhax into my DS internet settings app with this guide, but it looks pretty outdated.

This used to be super useful for reinstalling the MSET exploit way back when, but nowadays it's not very useful.
I'm sure you can get a CIA of sudoku, but I don't know how you'd then inject the save file to launch the hax.

>>148245162

what CFW are you using?
>>
>>148245407
im using luma
>>
>>148245350

It's also pretty useless unless they can get around the problem of act.dat being limited to individual consoles
>>
>>148245490

a9lh + Luma?
Just install CIAs. Here's a bunch to get you started.
