First up, holy shit the game is so much better when you aren't wagglan to attack, it feels so much better to hit a button.

Start with the reboot at Sonic 252 and Universe 55. Since Archie is shit at trades, your best bet is to read them online on SonicScanF. Also don't worry about there being two books, since Universe isn't mandatory. It's only there if you want to read about characters that aren't Sonic and the FFs, like Shadow, Knuckles, Silver, and Blaze. Universe does have some of the best stories though so I recommend reading it anyways. Anyone got the reading order?

Playing Lost World for the first time. Upto the last Zone.
Why do all the stages in this game have no rhyme or reason, there's a act in Sky Road that clearly belongs in Desert Ruins, a fucking random candy and honeycomb level in the before mentioned Zone. It feels like they made these zones before they even knew what sort of game they were making. Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse but this game confuses me for something that's supposed to be another simple adventure.

Focus your studies.
Learn line of action/skeleton first. this helps you get your proportions down.
Develop line techniques
Do a hand session, or an eye session etc. Study other artists to see how they've chosen to draw how they do.
Style isn't an excuse for bad proportion.
Every artist no matter how realistic or cartoony has had to learn the basics first, you can't skip them because you want to draw dexters lab style and think they're only needed for hyper realistic renderings.
Everything is simple shapes, learn those and construction is easy from that point. Circles and cylinders make up nearly everything.
Keep track of your results and set yourself some kind of schedule.
What is your end goal? How do you achieve that aim?
Break it all into small chunks, like spend a day learning hands, or faces. And later learn difficult things like comic panel layout (if you want to get into comics) or how to convey a sense of speed.
Practice consistently.
Take criticism.
but most importantlyENJOY WHAT YOU DO. Even learning the hard stuff should be fun, because you're mastering a craft and making it your bitch. Learning new shit and understanding it should be enjoyable.

In Sonic's world, The "Blank The Animal" naming convention is something that only the most powerful/well known of the species is able to take.
It works like Ultra Despair girls, except instead of being the best at Blank, it's being the best of your particular species.
So Sonic is "The Hedgehog" (And the first name is a taken name) because he's the best Hedgehog around. It's why he's so incensed at Shadow, because he's laying claim to the name. It's also why Tails is still known as Miles partly, because he's just recently received the name. Conversely, it's why Amy Rose is just Amy Rose, and not Amy The Hedgehog.
Big the Cat and Blaze the Cat are from two different universes/dimensions, and Silver is "The hedgehog" of his time. Likewise, Cream is allowed to take "The Rabbit" name, because her mother, the current "The Rabbit" lets her. It's sort of an Informal thing, where you claim the name and then you're making an open declaration that you're open to fight/compete with others who also claim the name.

Hey /sthg/, Story time.
So two weeks ago i checked on humble bundle and i noticed that the "Sonic 25th Anniversary bundle" was a thing. I asked a few friends about it and while i got some positive remarks. Most people just told me that i was dumb to even try getting the bundle. Proclaiming that sonic is dead and stuff.
I haven't been invested in sonic since sonic colors. Things change i guess.
So i decided to get the bundle to someone's despite. Saying that i'll regret my choice getting into replaying all the sonic games...
While i have played the classic games into a tea. I never touched the adventure games since i was a child. Hearing all the hate, I came in pretty pessimistic about all of it.
At first SA:DX Was robbing me the wrong way with all of the glitchy clipping issues and as an animator the "lip-sync" was just terrible... until someone recommenced me the BetterSADX Mod, I slammed that shit into my files and i think everything was perfect. While the game aged like pissed... It was quite the memory trip to when i was a kid sitting close to the tv. Hoping i could beat the first stage in under a minute but never really making it there.
Now after SA, It was now time to replay SA2:B. I've had plenty of crashes and overall lots of technical issues with the game.. But i stuck though and man. I don't get all the hate this game is has gotten over the years. It's still very solid.
I know this is TL;DR. But i wanted to get into /vg/ for once and post something i think i can only say this here. These past two years haven't been kind to sonic. Yes the twitter is the most awesome thing. But i still do believe that everyone is over exaggerating all the hate, When really we should stop and maybe think why we are burning everything that could be a diamond in the pile of mush people like to think is the sonic franchise.

Nate was shit. I wanted him gone the moment I saw him. Was archie going for midget morgan Freeman? Part of it was just underestimating Penders, so they didn't come out the gate with hardcore legal powers, and the other half was SEGA not sending them any lawyers, since they were busy buying Atlus at the time and also don't care that much about the particulars of the comic, and telling Archie to end it quickly. It never actually went to trial, they settled out of court, but by all means Archie should've had an easy case since, as a licensed product, everything in the comics belongs to SEGA no matter what.
