I started an Exvius account like 2 days ago, didn't put any time into it after the tutorial. Just opened it back up, saw I had a bunch of free stuff, so I used all my summoning tickets and lapis, hoping for a 5* unit to start the game with (preferably Golbez). Best I got was Shadow, nothing else abovve 3 stars. Should I reroll?

The rarity of a unit when you pull it means fuckall. Your odds of pulling a 5* are only about 1%. What matter is the max rarity of the unit.

Stars are meaningless on their own, BE is all about units. Since you can upgrade unit ranks, a 3* Cecil will always be a better pull than a 4* Shadow, for example. Depending of the rest of your 3* units, you might want to reroll.

Remember this rerollfest will "end" on July 17 (last day for new accounts to get free stuff like 1000 lapis and 10 summon tickets). Also, try to save your lapis and just use summon tickets (you can buy 11 tickets for the price of 10 lapis summons on the Chest icon), and if you don't get something good in 3~6 pulls, you should probably reroll anyway (try to save some tickets for future rate-up banners).

It's almost like it's a gacha game. Factually 5* characters are about a 5% draw rate while the others are about 10%. But even within that certain obviously great characters like Cecil, exdeath and CoD are 1% while less desirable ones like zidane are 3%

Same thing in the 4* pool, ones like Krile are about 5% if you pull a 4* while ones like shadow and cyan are 10%. the game knows who is better and who is not, it's intentional design

I equip gilg with lifesiphon and st cross. LS beginning of fight until 2 charges. Once those are spent its St Cross. Which still does great damage even compared to his SSB.

And on monks i usually have exploding fist for when I'm out of SB charges

Saint's cross is for damage so if you're using a knight for damage then you use it. If you don't have any knight SBs at all then you're probably bringing beatrix, agrias or Cecil so they can use protectga/shellga so armor strike on one of them in the other slot would be fine. If you have SC though you probably wouldn't be bothering with armor strike

I have a lot of knight SBs though so I use two and both have lifesiphon and one has protectga while the other has SC

Why even create her? Just to make me suffer? Every other healer in the game is either an aura-stacking mess or some overdesigned slut. Hell, Cecil is probably the cutest 5* healer in the game.
And yeah, BE sure have lots of descriptions and bits of lore, and some FF references (kinda silly how they say "from another world" instead of just a simple reference, like Buster Sword's description. It's not like time/dimension traveling is a common thing in BE's world).

Not every 5* character is drowning in auras. Cecil and Firion are pretty fine, for example. There are OCs with decent auras too, like Rakshasa (only her weapon gets a crazy aura). And I don't even get what Fina's costume is supposed to be if I just look at her combat sprite.
But Refia and Lenna looks fine, so I guess I will save my tickets for them.

If you have time and not enough stamina/energy/whatever its called you should do high level explorations and just grind. If you have a decent party you can get 3x the XP you would get from vortex. It just takes time

As far as exp/energy, vortex is still around the same (slightly better iirc) as the most exp efficient explorations. The difference is that you get less rank exp and no materials in exchange for being able to spend your energy quickly.

You certainly aren't getting better unit exp if you don't even grind explorations until exp cap (which is when the monsters stop spawning).

You go for the exploration that has the shit you (either from monster drops or collection points) and then you kill shit until there's nothing left to kill while visiting all three collection points. Phantom Forest is my personal favorite since it gives tons of magicite and its exp/energy ratio is only slightly worse than the highest exp vortex. I haven't farmed any other exploration maps yet so I can't say how they compare.

Oh, and Phantom Forest is easy enough to do with only one or two characters + a friend so it's great if you want to level a specific character fast.

I feel like I'm the only person who likes Vaan, I mean he's not like my favorite but I never had a problem with him, seems like a pretty cool kid who just did the best he could on the streets along with his qt gf. Had some pretty funny moments, pretty much a realistic nativity and innocence about him but also shows growth and maturity relatively quickly throughout the story. Steam version of 4 isn't terrible but it used the mobile UI which is terrible. It also introduced an easy mode that most people played, or maybe phone did I dunno, that undermined the entire purpose of the DS version.

Play 4 on DS or PSP for your first time. Or maybe snes or gba, doesn't really matter. DS is better as a replay imo though with how much it changes. DS version also has the best translation by a mile, PSP script is just the GBA script, and GBA script is better than snes but not by a whole lot.

6 play the gba version with fixes or the snes version. gba version fixed popular bugs like one of the evasions not working and the other doing both, and vanish + status effect and a bunch of other stuff. It also has a better translation but it's not drastically different
