The only way for a deck to dominate in this meta is to be PePe levels of broken.
For D/D/D to be topping so much and consistently in such a varied meta is proof that it's really one of the best archetypes ever made.

So the DD/Blue Eyes match-ups ended up with DD on top.

Lamia and her easy synchros that do not restrict you to fiends really made a huge difference for the deck. Howling/Berfomet combos were nice but limited.

2 years ago, I played it pretty much as a Leonidas Control deck with Valkyrie covenant or Yolo Kaiser play, with Temujin/Alexander combo being there just for field presence.

Reminder that this is the last day to sell anything meta-relevant (that isn't from SHVI) before prices crash in the USA. People in EU got another week to get it done. Only thing you might want to hold onto is Ghost Reaper since it'll get a reprint in Gold next year at the very soonest. Also, buy LON Royal Commands, the new errata it got in AP06 makes it so that it completely shits on FLIP monsters. If the new flagship archetype is half as good as Kozmo and BA these will be the new Mask of Restrict in half a year or so. Don't bother with anything else (like Crossout or Spirit of Backdraft) until we got more reveals, though.

Buying 3 of any structure deck right now is a bad idea since Felgrand is barely functional without Blue-Eyes and Monarchs are getting the hammer like you said. Everything older than that is shit.

Kozmos are very resilient and will not die with just one banlist. After the WCQ's are done people will try to get rid of the decks, you can probably get a full core on the cheap. A Gold Rare core might come close to the price of 3 structures if you´re lucky.

tincan or town to 1 will severely impact the deck, well, the standard deck in the case of tincan, not the FK variant.
if 2 or more of those get hit, the deck is gimped pretty hard, and facing it becomes "play past their one copy and win"
