If Mega Man choose to be converted from Rock into Super Fighting Robot Mega Man, Proto Man choose to leave Dr. Light's live and not let him repair him, Bass and Ballade choose to betray Wily and the MM9 Robot Masters choose to let Dr. Wily reprogram them, fearing they'd get scrapped...

Then what separates Robots from Reploids? If X was the "first robot to take his own decisions", what does that mean for Proto Man or Mega Man?

The only difference between them is that reploids aren't bound by the three laws I think. The line between robot master and reploid is really thin though so in short it technically doesn't matter? In some instances, I think the robot masters are more morally advanced than reploids. Many blindly follow Sigma's orders. Even Quick Man questioned Dr. Wily in Super Adventure Rockman.

TL;DR, Mega Man X's plot is poorly written because it has some glaring holes in it's lore.

Technically speaking, each of those decisions was ruled by their programming.

Rock was built to help. Depending on the source, sometimes it's to help Dr.Light, and other times it's just simply to help people. Either of those could be fufilled during the events of the first game by either helping Dr.Light stop his other robots, or helping everyone by protecting them from harm from the other robots.

Blues was following the third law in protecting his own existence, as he feared that he'd be different if he was repaired. There are two conflicts here, the first being that by protecting his own existance, he was effectively ending his own existance because he'd eventually go offline if not repaired. The second conflict is the decision conflicts with the second law of having to obey the orders given by human beings. His being able to get around these conflicts is generally attritubed to being a prototype.

Bass is constantly spouting about how his directive is to simply be the strongest. That would sometimes put him at odds with Dr.Wily. That can be seen as Wily simply fucking up wile programming him. But that raises the question of why didn't Wily "fix" Bass the first time he went against Wily?

I don't even remember the conditions around Ballade's betrayal so I won't comment.

The MM9 robot masters are a case similar to Blues, but there's no conflicts with the laws, as Wily is a human, offering to repair them to make them useful again. Though you'd think they'd be programmed with security measures to recognize crazy mad scientists and refuse them.

Ballade is a RKN (Rockman Killer Number), but his actions at the end of MM4GB went completely against his prime directive after you defeat both his forms.

If you go to the Mega Man article, you'll see "Rokkuman" where "Van" is, or a better example, Gospel.EXE's article as "Gosuperu" or Wily as "Uairi". The french "Vent" was intended for all regions.

Expectations can really ruin something, adds horse blinders stopping from appreciating the things you didn't expect to.
It's just so much more lighthearted than 1 the contrast is pretty jarring at first. Bud is bro tier in 2, just wish the the whole 3 EM net Navi thing happened in 2 rather than 1 game and however many years later.

2....just wasn't important to the sum total of the series.

1 ended with Geo finding the strength to trust people and have a normal life again, and 3 was his ultimate closure with regards to his dad.

2 should have focused on Solo, but really both Geo and the main villain hogged the spotlight from him. I would even go as far as to say that Solo should have been the main character of SF2, with some interaction between him and Pat(who I literally forgot about until I saw him in 3). Pat was left out to dry, and that's a damn shame.

I also disagree with the whole "Wizards" thing as a whole, but I understand that they did it because people wanted BN, not SF.

The final stage of 2 was it's best part and is what the focus should have really been on. Mu, and every level/boss should have had clear ties and lore related to it rather than have been random mythical.... beasts? the boss design theme is a little lost in SF 2.

The sole focus should've been Mu and it's archaeology with as much focus as 1 had establishing it's world and the EM-ians.

As for Solo, Vega, Hollow and Solo are find on their own and as much as I like Phantom's design, he should've been replaced in every chapter with Solo or atleast ditched after the introduction. Having Solo as the sole antagonist would put him to close to an evil alignment when he's dedicated true neutral and he needs the interactions with the other antagonists to flesh him out more.
