Meifang easily defeats Kagura offscreen.
Kajun gives Mai one of the Legacy Weapons, Outseal.
Mai fights off Meifang for a minute or two until Kajun teleports Mai's ass out of there.
Mai and Kajun is heading to Sector Seven since the zeroth squadron is after them.

If we don't play arcade mode and it's 3 acts then certain character's actions will seems very strange and random. If it's a character who can immobilize his enemy, then we have Jin. If it's a character with a fluid weapon, then we have Amane. Using strings isn't really a major selling point.

I'm pretty sure you can't get wake up DP'd with 0 vulnerability frames on a good knockdown.
Some of your combo enders will both put you close to the opponent and make it so no matter what they try you can land an attack before they wake up. So for these, wake up DP would get hit during the down tech if you 2A'd, usually.
Some characters can 2B instead which can catch them rolling in either direction as well instead (they can roll back away from 2As unless corner), again depending on the knockdown and character. In some knockdowns it would still beat out a down tech. But there aren't many cases where you can spam this compared to 2A.
If talking about emergency tech DPs, feints work the best. On knockdown, spam a couple of 2As and then jump barrier on their e tech, catches scrubs pretty well. Or you could run up and tap barrier guard, just be wary they might try to throw you and thus you can't be holding barrier or you'll be likely unable to tech the throw. Run up, upback barrier works too, but some DPs are harder to punish from the air.

Some cases yes. That's why you're supposed to feint with the 2As so they don't think to do that, but they still can do it late. Mind that if they late tech as a habit you can 2B OTG them into a blue beat or even red combo.
If you upback barrier and have a good jump in normal, you can actually punish them for whiffing that while falling.
Also, remember that most players won't risk a DP without 50 meter. Pay attention to their heat gauge to know how lame you should play on knockdown.
Generally, upback barrier only keeps opponent on defense (if no DP) in the corner and gives it up midscreen. Run up barrier keeps advantage in both situations if you can react unless they risk waking up (remember if they don't roll or e tech by the time you microdash to them, they're free to OTG attacks or can be 2A'd out of down tech). 2A jump barrier can still keep advantage but depending on their position they may be able to roll.
Also note DPs like Ragna's which can lead to 3k with your back to the corner will be attempted more often in that situation.
DPs are high risk here like any game, but not as much thanks to having rapid cancel available. Your best bet is to learn your character's safejump setups (setups in which the opponent cannot land a DP from etech, will get hit by a falling normal on down tech, and will get tagged no matter how they roll, off of specific knockdowns).

I've been trying to get past the 2nd intermediate tutorial stage for hours.
I can't seem to press A+B+C to make a rapid cancel fast enough and it always ends up triggering a grab instead.

Is it my button config?
I have left trigger set to A+B and right trigger set to B+C, so surely, pressing both would trigger a rapid cancel instead of mashing the face buttons?
