Here's my idea.

An enemy player should contest the point during OT, just like in regular time. If the enemy team assumes advantage in the point, the timer is reset and counts down. Each time the timer is reset the max duration of OT is decreased.

Just my idea to halt endless tracer spam in OT while maintaining the frantic last ditch atmosphere.

Some obscene hooks sometimes are due to a combination of ping and just barely clipping your hitbox. His hook already has some problems but it happens with more than just his hook and it's not always just spaghet.

I sure love being forced to play Winston/Soldier every single match because the game has rapidly devolved into "muh healer". It's sucking all the fun out of the game. Yea I'm on a 12 game winstreak, because all I do, 100% of the time is sit on the enemy healer 24/7.

If I don't do that, we lose, if I pick a different hero, we lose, if I ram the monkey dick in Mercy's or Lucio's asshole, we win.

A good Tracer makes the game hell for everyone on both offense and defense.

The problem is that the average Tracer player is hot garbage. Her play has a large burden of knowledge attached to it ontop of using her kit properly.

Any shooter with healers demands a healer.
However what Blizz did was they made the healers capable of swinging entire battles.
Compare the TF2 Medic's ubercharge to Mercy or Lucio's ultimates.
The Ubercharge made whoever received it pretty scary, but it also only impacted one guy, required that guy to live long enough to ubercharge, and required the medic to be protected. This was also combined with the fact that the medic loudly announces his ubercharge is ready as soon as it is charged so enemies know about it.

You look at Mercy, who turns a massive loss into a huge tempo swing in your favor, and all that it requires is that she hides while at full charge and knows how to use her pretty fucking good mobility.

You look at Lucio, who is perhaps closest to a TF2 medic in that his effect requires his team to actually be able to keep themselves alive, but he also hits the entire team with shields for a huge push or defense. Not as individually strong, but potentially huge if he hits enough people.

So whereas in other shooters not targeting the medic is punishing, in Overwatch you lose if you don't target the medic.

No, you don't get it. Dedicated healers by game design and concept will always be mandatory. Like how are you not getting that? Someone who can restore health and hold off death will always be mandatory if it's an option. It's an advantage you cannot pass up. Zenyatta is underpowered, in fact, Blizzard wants to buff him. And he was the only hero to be used zero times in a recent tournament. If a healer is even slightly useful at being a healer they'll be mandatory. You should be asking to remove supports from the game entirely and just have more heroes with abilities like Soldier's biotic field.

I don't think Healers should be nerfed, and I would argue Mercy's and Lucio's healing abilities are overvalued a ton. Not that those heroes are not strong good picks, but if you watch high level gameplay, most Mercy and Lucio players use their Damage/Speed boost way more than their heals. I also think Symmetra gets a lot of undeserved shit just because she can't heal, when healing isn't the benchmark of a Support in the first place.

Not him, the original poster, but the reason active combat healing works is because Blizzard lets it work. They could easily have shifted the support role towards utility (Symmetra, Lucio speed boost) and general shooting (Zenyatta), but instead they chose to make healing extremely powerful. Presumably because girlfriends need something to play.

That isn't going to happen. I have to keep telling you. When a game ever has a healer class/champ/hero/whatever they'll always be mandatory. You cannot circumvent that. The only way to do so is to not have a healer class and so as long as Mercy, Lucio, and probably Zenyatta are in the game they'll always be mandatory. It's like chocolate in a chocolate cake. You can turn some high quality imported chocolate into shitty offbrand store chocolate but people will still use it because it's chocolate. And that's what I mean by the only way to stop that is to make them shit as in so bad it's not even chocolate anymore and you might as well remove them from the game because they'd never be picked. If you want to make healers non-mandatory in a game you give characters their own so-so off-healing abilities and don't make someone's gimmick/selling point as healing people. But that can't happen because every support not named Symmetra exists in the game.
