you have to be level five to put pokemon in a gym. If your team already owns it your pokemon goes straight in, if a different team owns it you have to beat their pokemon and kick them out.

So I walked about 5 miles to the nearest Pokestop, and the only thing it offered was for me to add in a module (which I didn't have). At a certain point the game told me to "go to a Pokestop" but the notification went away when my app crashed.

Did I miss a tutorial? What are Pokestops for and what do they offer? Currently level 4.

Let's talk legit Pokemon strategy here, people.

Only getting 2 moves is pretty huge. Type advantage is always in play, but you don't get 4 move types to counter a diverse range of Pokemon like in the handheld versions. This may make gym-busting a little difficult, since you can't have 1 Pokemon that can shit on most of the possible enemy types.

That said, anyone know of a good starter investment Pokemon? No I don't mean what's a good starter choice, I mean what Pokemon is worth investing dust/candy into in this game.

Currently I've ran into a CP-81 Oddish with Razor Leaf and Moonblast. It sounds like a solid starting point so I could get some poison/grass power going on with Vileplume.

Anyone begun making a good team yet on day 1?

Your oddish evo line is fine but it gets absolutely walled by any fire type. I think Pidgey is the best 'early' pokemon because the types effective against it such as Ice, Rock, Electric are less common. It also gets STAB on flying and normal moves though I'm not sure if that's a mechanic in this game. I also think Water types could be pretty good, I've got a Krabby.

This game drains my phone at a faster rate than it can even charge... This is going to be rough. It'll be hard to keep this app running while out and about.

My game crashed/server went down while I was supposed to be catching my starter. Now that I started again there is no starter pokemon. In fact there's nothing to catch. Great. You'd think they would test for a fatal bug like this especially when the server's will be going down all the time.

You can claim stuff from Pokestops every 5 minutes if I recall correctly. I don't think gyms have an effect on that?

If you meant the defender bonus however, it caps at 10 gyms (so 100 coins) and you can claim it daily. If you claim it before you've 10 gyms in your posession, you'll lose out on the remaining ones.
