As for attributes, flesh cannon is your priority. All the linked attributes are wanted, get all the ones that increase damage and the one that reduces aoe defence. Magic missile is good to up as well.

You're not really going to have fun til at least Rank 4 on a Swordie, since your DPS is always subpar compared to other classes at your level. I suppose if you went Barbarian at Rank 3 that might mitigate it a bit, as stuns help a fair bit. One of the major issues is that if you didn't take Peltasta you're going to have a bad time in and out of groups due to 1) having to chase down mobs and 2) not being able to pull and maintain aggro.

Knight armor and a guardsman shield plus aspersion is good enough to take 1's from blue spion archers.
